OP posts:

Alan Titchmarsh
Michael McIntyre (whose hair moves independently to the rest of him)
Miriam Margoyles (makes me feel anxious because you never know what crudity is coming next)
Dawn French
Josh Widdecombe

Billy connolly
Can't bear stand ups who laugh at their own jokes

dustabsorber · 29/08/2026 23:09

King Charles

K90 · 29/08/2026 23:09

Emma Thompson , since I saw her mom dancing at an Adele concert . Cringe !

Casualuser · 29/08/2026 23:10

I remember when the PR machine backed charles and di, nothing new under the sun.

AInightingale · 29/08/2026 23:11

Johnny Ball as mentioned by pp, and Jenni Murray were two talented and genuinely well-liked BBC stars, and they were both cancelled by that organisation!

SuperGinger · 29/08/2026 23:11

Marian Margoyles - vulgar
Eamon Holmes - one of the least pleasant people I've met

RaraRachael · 29/08/2026 23:13

I agree with Sandi Toksvig. I have to turn her off.
Also Clare Balding nd Claudia Winkleman.
I don't get how some people are everywhere yet there are loads of equally good and better presenters.

notacooldad · 29/08/2026 23:13

I like Billy Connolly and think he's the funniest guy alive!
I used to but one 'dark humour ' joke put me off him gor ever and I cant beat to hear him now.
I really dont like Miriam Margolies.

No one else really bothers me.

ScruffMuffin · 29/08/2026 23:16

@notacooldad I seem to have missed that one!

I haven't got a TV and don't watch programmes online either, so admittedly usually years behind everyone else. There are lots of people on this thread I haven't heard of!

I do watch films, and Youtube, and read a lot.

butterpuffed · 29/08/2026 23:17

Lorraine Kelly , can't bear her .
And Susanna 'I'm so clever' Reid

FuckingAnnoyed · 29/08/2026 23:18

Ilovemyshed · 29/08/2026 19:29

Mary Berry

Totally agree. Met her through work a long time ago and she was horrible.

ruffler45 · 29/08/2026 23:19

I wonder how much does "over exposure" affect everyone's decisions?

Some NTs are never off the screen

malware · 29/08/2026 23:20

Joanna Lumley. Whenever she has an opinion I disagree with her. I find the whole dahllllinggg thing superficial and when she tries to engage with real issues I find that all a bit superficial too.

Sorry Joanna. I am sure you are alright in real life. I just don't think your public personna has enough substance.

SherbertsHerberts · 29/08/2026 23:20

Prue Leith.

I’ve worked with pretty much everyone mentioned here.

I like Rylan and Lorraineand Chris Packham (mentioned a lot here) they’re both super smart and have a sense of humiur

i I cannot abide Sandi T or Maureen Lipman

Why doesn’t Chris Packham’s ‘sense of humour’ come across then? He always seems charmless and slightly irritable on tv.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/08/2026 23:24

Purplebunnie · 29/08/2026 22:35

I only consider Attenborough, Lumley and Dench to be NT, and I like them all. The rest really haven't reached the status or whatever you want to call it

But I do agree with a lot of the dislikes on here especially Margyoles, she really is quite disgusting but of course she would love that I think that of her

Dead Ringers has a recurring ‘National Treasures superheroes’ thing which is Judy Dench, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart and … Alan Bennett. They’re all good ‘uns in my book. So are Attenborough and Lumley except when the latter is doing travel programs.

lifeinthemidlands · 29/08/2026 23:29

Lisa Tarbuck. When she does her show on radio 2 she's like the really annoying person at work who just witters on, chatting shit about things and people you don't know or care about.

notacooldad · 29/08/2026 23:31

I seem to have missed that one!

The Ken Bigley one where he was held hostage in Iraq and the captors were threatening to behead him. Connelly asked the audience if they wished his captors would "just get on with it"
They did indeed kill him. Of course its not Connelly's fault they did,it was just an absolutely horrible thing to say when the man's family were suffering so much.
Connelly defended his comments as Freedom of speech.

Maybe others agree with him but it turned me off him for ever.

Sauceandwhizz · 29/08/2026 23:37

David Bowie. I dont know if it has to be people still alive but never liked him, or his music. For various reasons...

My mum has an irrational dislike of Meatloaf but that's clearly not in the national treasure (or alive) category.

Melancholyflower · 29/08/2026 23:38

Pipsquiggle · 29/08/2026 22:23

Tim Minchin
Russell Brand - although it looks like he will have his comeuppance

I don't think anyone considers either of them a National Treasure, do they?

SmugglersHaunt · 29/08/2026 23:38

Stephen Fry
Dawn French
David Attenborough
Lenny Henry
David Beckham
Miriam Margolyes
Lulu
Cliff Richard
The Cheeky Girls

TallSturdyGirls · 29/08/2026 23:39

Thebutterflyslovemybush · 29/08/2026 18:36

The BBC (ducks for cover)

This is hardly a new take. Pretty much every gullible person I know has fallen for anti-bbc propaganda. Amusingly many of them are the same people that used to blindly follow everything the BBC said.
Surely it's somewhere in the middle. They are much better than most broadcasters but like everything run by humans has flaws.

TallSturdyGirls · 29/08/2026 23:40

Screamingabdabz · 29/08/2026 23:22

I love Packham. His autism sometimes comes across as bristly but that is part of why I love him.

Blinky21 · 29/08/2026 23:42

Miriam Margolyes is not a national treasure, as much as I like her personally.
For me it's the whole Royal Family and Helan Mirran
