Heard from a couple of people that lorraine kelly is a piece of work. Think she admits that she plays a character on screen, lots of these people do, thats why they come across as totally false. Mine are the prince and princess of wales, we know nothing about them apart from gushing media spin that is peddled out in exchange for photo opps.

I can't stand the Wales. I know that people on here loathe Harry and Meghan, but to me they are no worse than the other two. I wish that the whole RF would just disappear, it's the 21st century. We don't need royalty.

Only needed to read the first page to feel a warm glow of satisfaction that I am not alone in my celebrity hates.

IndigoBabble · 29/08/2026 22:40

Cliff Richard. Gives me the ick

He's vile, but I don't think anyone thinks otherwise. I doubt he counts as a 'national treasure'.

Absolutely James Corden, massively overrates himself.

I don't really understand why Miriam Margolis is famous. Does anyone have a favourite Miriam Margolis performance? Is there some brilliant seam of work she has done that I have missed?

As far as I am aware she was a cartoon bunny in an advert in the 80s and gurned at a turnip in Blackadder. I quite enjoyed that but it's hardly a filmography to rival Dame Judi. She also read the Barbara Pym books on Radio 4 but I don't think she was very good. Joanna David and Penelope Wilton did it much better.

Miriam Margoyles starred in a few Dickens adaptations in the 80s and 90s. She was passionate about Dickens, that's the odd thing about her. When she appeared on chat shows back then, she was very warm and genuinely interesting and funny and likeable (though they did expect people to behave themselves on TV then). Why she decided to reinvent herself as some foul-mouthed old harpy is beyond me. It's depressing.

Can't think of any I like, perhaps David Attenborough would be the only decent one, as at least he has done something useful for the world. Otherwise too much smugness and too much exposure. Don't think the Royals are in this category though.

Abustedflush · 29/08/2026 22:44

Miriam Margoles
Stephen Fry

He is on my list of “ Far too old, give it up mate, enough is enough now”
I, too, find him an embarrassment, why does he not feel it?
Its the yearly ‘sexy’ calendar, the clothes, that hair… no! Stop it!

PartoftheBand · 29/08/2026 22:46

I'm glad to see Chris Packham mentioned a few times. I find him very irritating but thought I was the only one.

Casualuser · 29/08/2026 22:48

Heard Chris Peckham has amazing management. They must be a fucking majacian.

Also loathe Michael McIntyre as mentioned by others. I worked with him a few times on charity events years ago and he was hard work which I will forgive as it can be a slog doing these things when you're building your career. He was extremely extremely funny though, brilliant at ad libbing and seemed very natural and talented.

Now he's so bland to me, I can't recognise that hilarious, spontaneous person he used to be, the jokes are so dull and formulaic, all the skipping about and silly voices. He comes across as being unbearably smug and pleased with himself, having his name in titles of everything and clearly believing his own hype. Maybe just the effects of prime time type success but feels such a shame. I can't see he'll have huge longevity with the current schtick but maybe I'm wrong, he will have made a lot of money I guess!

Unlike the rest of my family, I find him funny, but there's an irony about someone as successful and loaded as Michael making fun of the 'posh' people who can afford to shop in Waitrose. 🙄

I’ve just had a google… I wonder if she would have had so much stage stardom if it wasn’t for the Tim Rice “special relationship” going on at the same time🤔

On 'EPOS' as it is cringinly called the day after this years' Eurovision, she did this huge speech wishing Look Mum,no Computer luck and how we were all behind him. Telling us all about the programs that would be on to celebrate. All after the dimal score of 1, either the show is pre-recorded and they played out the wrong show or she read completely the wrong script with no awareness of the nonsense she was spouting.

Funny how so many mentioned are a product of the BBC machine.

If they all got on a space ship and didn’t leave a forwarding address, would we, the general public, actually miss them, would our lives change in any way at all?
Serious question?
How long would it take us ordinary folk to notice?

Yerroblemom1923 · 29/08/2026 22:52

Cliff Richard

RtHonLadyMuck · 29/08/2026 22:52

Alison Hammond (but is she an NT? I’m not sure 🤔)

Probably because the BBC gives certain favourites work for life, promotes them as treasures even when most people are sick of them

TheImpOfThePerverse2026 · 29/08/2026 22:57

Robbie Coltrane in National Treasure was a good watch 😔

Pipsquiggle · 29/08/2026 22:57

StrathSellsFlats think there would still be tons of tourists in the UK if all the royals took a long walk of a short pier. They are the top of the tree of the class system so the status quo works for a few.

Twilight7777 · 29/08/2026 23:01

Another one for David Jason. 👀

There’s plenty here in history and scenery for tourists, yes I agree, but I’d real curious how many of us ordinary folk actually give the RF a thought during our day? If they just disappeared, would we notice?

I hate all the condescending stuff where they surprise the ordinary people, go to a pub or spend ten minutes serving in a soup kitchen

ScruffMuffin · 29/08/2026 23:05

I keep thinking of more!

Seb Coe. I know someone who worked with him, and he was full of "don't you know who I am?"
Donovan (if he counts) - insufferable name dropper.
Zoe Ball - gob on a stick. I like her dad though.

Funny how often David Attenborough has been mentioned. I don't feel strongly either way, but in an old thread about celebrities people had met, pretty much 50% said he was lovely, and 50% thought he was unpleasant.

I like Billy Connolly and think he's the funniest guy alive!
