Who else is excited for Autumn!?

I'm so excited for Autumn, all the beautiful colours, the cool breezes, the food, the clothes. This roasting sticky summer has gone on for ever. I love Autumn so much.

Here is an alternative thread for those struggling with all of it, hopefully it will be a place for likeminded souls?

I like Autumn @JeanSimmons and it will be welcome after the stifling death valley summer we have had. And I do like Halloween, and all the lovely Autumn colours in nature, and I put Autumn decorations up too, and always go to Blackpool early October for 2 days to see the lights! (And sometimes see a show, go out for a meal, spend some time by the beach if it's not too chilly!) And I enjoy the little Autumn/Winter markets and Christmas light switch-ons and so on.

And of course I love Christmas. 🎄And I do like a bit of snow.

But I don't like WINTER. It's too cold, and wet and grey and grim, and I don't like it being dark at 4pm! I am so glad when January is over, as at least then we're close to Spring, then there's Valentine's Day, and we have 3 family birthdays in February, and then the snowdrops and daffodils and tulips, then it's Easter, then the lighter nights are back ...

Today is the day I get my blankets out!!! Some for the sofa, one for the bed (well, it’ll be in my bedroom for now).

I’ve almost forgotten what they look like.

Love Autumn! kids back at school, so the world belongs to adults again, the colours, the harvests, the sense of getting prepared for winter, fixing and mending things at the allotment, that had to wait as the crops needed all my attention, researching seed catalogues to decide what to grow next year, harvest festival, halloween, bonfire night, then looking forward to Advent- its bliss, and my favourite season of all.

Which isn't for another two months. I'm talking about autumn, not winter (although winter has its joys as well!)

Anyone making a pumpkin pie? I’m going to try this year, but I won’t be able to get the ingredients I want until around Thanksgiving as they’re only sold then. I had it once, it was honestly the most unexpectedly delicious thing. I think that’s the last Thursday in October? So definitely fits in with autumn.

Reading all the posts giving reasons as to why everyone is looking forward to autumn. Hoping it may rub off on me and I too can join in the excitement! Nope its not working I will miss summer 😢 so much 😭

You can still do lots in the rain! It never stops me doing anything.

Outdoor craft fairs, walks, food festivals, music festivals all become endurance tests and are not at all enjoyable in the rain, so it is a hard disagree from me.

Completely agree. Its the most beautiful time of year. Cold, crisp mornings out with the dog, wooly hats and red noses. Yes it might rain but hey it rains in all seasons.

Well you can miss summer and look forward to autumn as long as you don’t piss on everyone’s chips please 😆.
Basically, autumn is coming whether people like it or not so they can either look forward to it which is the normal stance for normal people or there are threads out there for moaning on.
Bring out the blankets, the rain, the dark, the candles, the mist! I am officially in bliss starting one second past midnight.

Blimey. Have to be careful what you say on THIS thread. I said I hate winter. I agreed with the OP and said I actually LIKE Autumn (which is what the thread is about!) before you jumped on me. Way to make people feel unwelcome... Not many people are going to be staying on this thread if you're going to be so snippy, and make them feel so unwelcome. As I said, the thread is about being excited for Autumn and liking Autumn, and I said I did.....

I think I'll make myself comfortable elsewhere. @JeanSimmons Good luck with your thread, but with @NoCommentingFromNowOn policing the thread, and telling people what they can and cannot say, and you backing her up. I think I'm done.

I much prefer the colder weather, autumn is great but winter and snow are my favourite. Currently suffering the relentless heat as DH decided to extend our holiday with his family in Italy for a few more days. I am looking longingly at forecasts for other places where I wouldn't be suffering 30+°c daytime and 24°c at night. The insect bites are driving me insane, but that's just me.

I'm excited about making apple and blackberry crumble from my garden - the blackberries are frozen and waiting in the freezer and the apples should be ready in October.

I also fancy taking the kids for a bike ride/scoot along the seafront now there's less tourists and I don't have to worry about sunscreen.

Autumn's my favourite season. But the shops are already selling for Christmas...I'll think about that after Bonfire Night, feels like people skip over Autumn a lot.

I don't like the way festive seasons are extended so much. It doesn't make them feel special any more. Apart from present buying I don't even think about Christmas until December.

I used to start present shopping in December, though now I run a shop it's a busy work month so I've had to start doing it in November. I generally don't like Christmas stuff until December, even though I wear Christmas jumpers pretty much every day in December. But I keep it in it's December box 😂

I love autumn, but the last few years there's been a distinct shortage of crisp, frosty mornings, I'd love to see more of those! I'm glad to see the back of this summer, even if it's just for my dog's benefit, she has a thick fluffy double coat and really struggles in the terrible heat we've had. I don't like it either!

Hi everyone - my fellow autumn lovers and those who aren’t particularly fond of the season.

It’s a lovely day and the sun is shining, so I decided to spend some time outdoors. Gosh, I spent nearly two hours wandering through my enchanted spinney and taking photos. Time well spent! Perhaps the photos will inspire some autumnal creations.

This weekend, I’m trying to be more productive by bringing some autumnal charm into my lounge.
