Which organisations if any have you decided to never use again for one reason or another?

I'll start with British Gas, awful company, very expensive and customer service is non existent..there is a reason they have lost a few million customers of recent years, close second place is EE for similar reasoning.

Presumably you are also boycotting the Guardian for the same "crime"

I am boycotting Guardian for numerous reasons but started with them blaming the mass organised sexual assault of over a thousand women in Cologne on NYE by immigrants in 2015/16 on the women for having iPhones.

Given that i urgently needed a working phone so that the police, CPS, my support worker not to mention my friends and family could contact me and that the circumstances were highly unusual it does not seem an unreasonble request to me. Then factor in that I had been a customer for about a decade with no problems, the fact that 3 is worth several billion so a good will gesture in unusual circumstances . I had a really nice email from their head office saying that mine was an exceptional case and they were more than happy to help me. The reason I left when my contract was up was the way the initial rude and callous response saying that it was my fault the phone was broken. Hope this has clarified things for you

It was a nice gesture by them but I too am shocked that you think they were responsible for replacing the phone you dropped during an assault. And that despite this gesture you have boycotted them.

Tesco as well. Dreadful customer relations in our local Tesco - a really rude under manager. When I politely and quietly made a comment about the store layout, I was so dumbfounded at her reaction that I didn't note her name tag before leaving. I then wrote an equally polite letter to head office and received a terse one sentence reply. I've not been in our local store since, and if I visit another Tesco (a rare occasion), I pay cash and don't use my Tesco card. They won't know but it makes me feel better !

Never been back since they stopped me and made me empty both my bags of shopping as the alarm went off, the cashier had not disabled the alarm on something i had bought. I had proof of purchase on their wretched app but the store technology wasn't working very well so it took ages to show on their screen. They refused to speak the cashier, treated me like a thief, it was so embarrasing with lots of shoppers staring at me and while they were searching my shopping other people were leaving the store with the alarm going off regularly. If they had apologised, it would have made a difference but they were so rude. When the same thing has happened in Asda they just deactivated the alarm and sent me on my way.

Amazon. Although I do find this hard to do sometimes.

Yes, it was a nice gesture. I hoped that they would assist me at a very difficult time in my life, and as I pointed out earlier, they were so rude and stated that it was my fault, a horrible thing to say given the circumstances. I am sorry that it has shocked you

It wasn’t their fault though so it was unreasonable to expect them to replace your phone. I am surprised you don’t see that. If it was anyone’s fault it was the assailants.

At the time your were shook up so perhaps understandable you were looking to people to make it right. But to still think they were responsible now and should be boycotted for it is odd.

Mine very rarely fail, sounds like you've been really unlucky.

DHs frequently fail. He usually gets told it's because he has the latest Apple phone.

You probably got a rude response from three for what you were expecting them to do for something that wasn't there fault. You dropped your phone but expected three to pay honestly the mind boggles

Just think that if they had listened to me instead of saying "the damage to the phone is your fault, you will need to send it back, pay the postage, pay the cost of repairs and it will take several weeks for it to be returned to you" I had a full apology from their head office, it's about listening to people, being flexible about how a company responds to indvidual cases. I was the victim of a serious crime If they had done that they would have kept my custom As i mentioned in pp 3 are a very wealthy company and a cheapo phone must have been within budget for them.

I dropped my phone when a stranger lunged at me and perpetrated a serious sexual assault for which he received a significant prison term. It's interesting that you are one of three posters on here who are all blaming me in very similar terms. There is never any excuse for rude customer service, I did not contact them to demand a new phone I just explained the circumstances and politely asked if they could help me. Telling a victim of crime that is "your fault for dropping your phone " as if i was just being careless is a poor response. They were rude, I wasn't and as I have already explained I had a full apology from their head office.

Why have you posted the same reply to my comment about Tesco as you did to my comment about 3?

No you went to the CEO in the hopes of getting your own way and it worked..they give in for a quiet life. I can't believe you even think it was morally right to do that. That's like me going to Tesco buying eggs dropping them and then taking them back to Tesco for a replacement.

I'm sure if you were a business owner you wouldn't be replacing items that a customer damaged accidentally regardless of the circumstances.

newyearnoeu · 27/08/2026 14:29

BT broadband. They were an absolute incompetent nightmare when I moved house nearly 11 years ago, to the point where I locked one of their engineers in the house and wouldn't let him leave until I'd checked he'd actually fixed the problem (makes me sound like a psychopath but turned out he hadn't so I felt vindicated!). Whenever I check they still come at the bottom of the good service rankings so have never been tempted to go back to them.

It wasn't helped by the way they had outsourced all of their customer service abroad - at one point they wrote us a letter with the house name as our surname - it was a very obvious one e.g. addressed to Mrs Primrose Cottage!

In what way are they actually more eco-friendly?

Another Fussy fan here too.

Come to think of it, EasyJet scammed me in Covid too! I'd paid £60 for a flight and they refunded £20. I requested the other £40, and they agreed I was owed the money but never paid it.

RyanAir also scammed me for £40... in the days when they still had desks at airports we paid extra for desk checkin rather than online checkin. In between booking they removed the desk option but never refunded our fees.

So they're neck and neck. Grin

I think RyanAir tried to screw me over during covid as they made it almost impossible to try and claim my cancelled flight back. Unfortunately for them precisely because of covid and lockdown I had literally nothing better to do than keep nagging them so eventually got it!

Dyson because of his Brexit stance.

I'm trying to shop locally so any brand that claims "designed in Britain" with lots of flags to show 'authenticity' but when you delve it might be designed (probably picked from a list) in Britain but it's made and shipped from china. A lot of bag makes do this.

Asda because I don't know why as they sell deodorant but the whole place stinks of BO and walking it's aisles is like the dawn of the dead.

Asda is the mankiest supermarket. No matter which one I've been in it just seems manky. Their meat is very off-putting. I do like their fresh pizza counter though. 😳

Evri. Car broke down on dual carriageway with no hard shoulder. Police towed it to a verge. Sent keys to a friend via next day delivery with Evri. Friend was to arrange a local garage to tow car away to repair it. Keys didn’t arrive for 7 days. Car was impounded. Cost me £300 to have it released. Evri offered me £10 compensation (which I never got) were rude, willfully stupid and unapologetic. Will never use them again and I urge you not to either.

bogstandardaf · 27/08/2026 16:38

British Gas and Scottish Power as others have said.

Dyson (and anything they sponsor like Bath Rugby) due to Brexit and general hypocritical business behaviour.

Companies who only allow returns by taking parcels to a corner store and have no provision at all for collection from home for people with disabilities (even for a fee), in my experience this includes Clarks and Moss.

bogstandardaf · 27/08/2026 17:25

I would also add Student loans company / student finance england.

If you have a child/grandchild still in primary, start saving a little bit every month now, so they don't get this horrible missold debt as an adult. It was too late for my DC as the hike to 9k tution fees was while they were already in secondary and the scandal about changing the interest rate massively upwards at will had not yet happened and it had not been discovered that it was a total lie about only repaying e.g. £25-20 pcm and it not being included in any credit affordability checks etc. Stay well clear if you can. Start planning early. Sadly it will end up being a privilege of the middle and upper classes in the future to able to avoid their children being burdened with this unrepayable and life-changing debt, but for a few years everyone fell for it and children from all walks of life are now saddled with huge debt that only increases every year and is most definitely not £25-30 pcm and is most definitely included in credit affordability checks, causing lifelong financial problems.

FawnDrench · 27/08/2026 17:39

Royal Mail - my heart sinks if I’m informed they are delivering a package or whatever because I never get any reliable info. They NEVER deliver on the date they say they will.
Absolutely dire “service”.

Tryonemoretime · 27/08/2026 18:06

Debenhams. I bought something on line, the quality was shocking and I quickly returned it and asked for a refund. It took many emails before the refund arrived.
Also Shein and Temu.
Also my local Italian restaurant. I'm coeliac and had eaten there safely for years. Then, unknowingly to me, it changed hands. The plate arrived with a Gluten Free flag on it and the food was delicious. I ate it all and then my very new son and daughter in law drove me home. Good thing we didn't hang around out town.
We'd just got home and I had a coeliac reaction. Sorry for TMI but for me that means uncontrollable and sudden diarrhoea with no warning and one or two days feeling ghastly. If that had happened in town ..... I called the restaurant to inform them to make sure they didn't 'poison' anyone else. They were very dismissive - and offered me 10 % off my next meal there!
