Lindsay Clancy confession

Midnightmoonface · 26/08/2026 14:27

How do you feel about the confession from Lindsay Clancy only being made after the professionals told her what she did upon coming around from her coma?

I definitely thought she made a confession, but it seems like there’s a huge doubt on that detail actually. It seems like when she woke she didn’t remember anything, and she was “informed” of what she had done and her confession followed this.

Why would you assume that?

Reddington said to one of the prosecution witnesses that she couldn't be heard talking on the call, and the DA did not object or rebut it.

And then to the last prosecution witness Reddington asked him and the witness said she could not be heard talking on the call, again the DA did not object or rebut it.

So that was the 2 times that Reddington brought up that she couldn't talk during the 911 call the the DA said nothing about, which would definitely suggest that the reporters who said they heard her talking are mistaken.

Didn’t LC land directly next to the window of the basement? It’s literally below the second floor window where she jumped. She was responsive at least. Do you believe, there is zero chance there was any way she could have communicated to PC where the children were when he asked?

This is obviously in the case that some people have heard or deny they heard the word basement. Red insinuated the word couldn’t be heard but he also didn’t flat out say it wasn’t there.

What’s the alternative?

No I think it's possible that she was able to talk, but I don't think we can take as fact that she spoke the exact words that Patrick remembered.

He said she said 'I tried to kill myself' and the prosecution experts took those exact words as fact when doing their assessment of whether she had been in psychosis at the time.

Memories are not infallible and especially not in such a traumatic situation, which the experts obviously know.

I said in my first post it's possible he asked her did you try to kill yourself and she groaned yes, she may even have said I had to kill myself rather than tried to, the point is that eyewitnesses recollections of highly traumatic events are often not accurate at all, so when so much meaning is assigned to the exact words she apparently said in evaluating when she was psychotic at the time that is extremely problematic.

Patricks recollection of the words wouldn't be an issue if the prosecution witnesses hadn't put so much weight on them.

Reddington said she couldn't talk twice and even one of the prosectution witnesses agreed he hadn't heard her talk on the 911 call, the CW did not object or rebut that, which does to me heavily suggest that she could not be heard on the call.

The whole thing doesn't make any sense. They are going of what her husband said the whole thing us shockin.I dont think she done it and there is 3 innocent children now gone its all so very very sad

You can honestly tell the people who have followed the trial closely and those who just read headlines or watched highlight videos. Anyone paying close attention can see the huge holes in Patrick’s testimony.

She was clearly failed by medical professionals before the murders, but on top of that there was an improper investigation with huge failures forensically. Patrick is involved in this somewhere.

Now the children are cremated, Lindsay appears to the world as a monster and he has a shiny new life going hiking in Costa Rica and running marathons within weeks of his triple bereavement. There was certainly some sort of domestic abuse taking place by him.

Remember she had to call the police to do a welfare check when her eldest child was 6 months old and she was working a night shift because Patrick would not answer the phone or respond to the baby crying?? Why did the police not see this as a huge red flag?

This is such a lazy argument, I’ve followed the trial closely and think it was murder suicide, maybe you didn’t follow it as closely as I did 🤷‍♀️. It’s just different opinions based on what we’ve heard and read.

Genuinely you don’t think there is anything inconsistent in the investigation or Patrick’s testimony?

TofuTuesday · 30/08/2026 09:25

No i genuinely don’t, i think it was a traumatic chaotic scene and whether he heard her or not, the kids were in the basement. I also don’t believe she had a brief, unrepeated, fairly lucid period of psychosis where she acted in an organised manner to kill them one by one.

You can tell the people who have spent the last few weeks on social media and think they’ve solved something that people have been working on for three years.

She failed herself. She was offered help. Not the help she wanted though so she changed it to suit her. That’s what happened. She planned and killed her children but failed to kill herself. She wanted PC to find her and the children.

We spend so much time saying we can’t judge LC and her behaviour before and after the killings but we do with PC. How dare he move on with his life. For LC though, she’s human she needs some normality.

I personally can’t imagine how LC or PC can carry on with what happened to their children. But I’ve not felt their emotions so I don’t get to say how I would react.

I've not seen any of the "Patrick did it" believers produce a realistic timeline of how he did so considering he is on cctv in two places while the crime was taking place.

What evidence is there to suggest the crime took place while Patrick was in CVS or in 3V though? His testimony claims that, but there is no physical evidence to suggest it.
The body temperature of Lindsay and the fact that the baby was able be resuscitated give an alternative time line.

Well the fact that they were able to resuscitate Callan for one thing. Also who rung him back from Lindsay's phone if she was already lying in the snow?

LCs body temp has been discussed so much and explained. Her broken spine meant her temp dropped really quickly. She was also led next to a leaking pipe which is why she was wet as well. Plus the fact they were able to resuscitate Callan shows that it had been a recent occurrence.

Id be interested to hear your theory. Because two points have already been cancelled out.

lljkk · 31/08/2026 09:51

I'm gonna hide this thread.

It's bad enough these awful events happened, but the people who want to compound the tragedy by insisting an innocent person and very bereaved man did the crime instead, wtf is wrong with You.

Reminds me of the enthusiasm for vilifying Nicola Bulley's husband.

MN is such a Man-Hater place.

I feel like the defence did bring it up, in a round about way. That is why they have looked at his timeline for being out of the house during the trial.

She wasn’t heard on the 911 call, she could not speak as she had cut her throat. With her left hand.

She also had a crushed thyroid and was soaked from head to waist, right next to the garden hose (left outside in winter???)

PixieFairySprite · 03/09/2026 17:18

I don't get all the conspiracy around this.

A tragic set of circumstances but it does seem very obvious that she was extremely mentally unwell, psychotic and hallucinating.

Remmy123 · 29/08/2026 09:06

Totally agree with this - it's become a circus.

akso shocked the parents got over a million via a go fund me

Edited

Patrick had a Go Fund me pot of $1 million + kept the $675 from the private sale of the house. The house was sold to his friend the assistant district attorney and none of the money went to Lindsay.

Have you even seen the way Patrick has memorialised the children? They've been cremated together and share a headstone. That didn't cost $1million now did it?

Her GoFund me is for her defence and for her parents, who have dropped everything and are living in hotels.

I have a major issue with what Lindsay apparently said to Patrick before the 9/11 call, not from the perspective of thinking that Patrick did it, but because the prosecution experts used those exact words he said she said as part of their evidence for reaching their conclusions, and we all know that people often remember things wrong, have you ever heard someone retelling a story about who said or did what when it's been an adrenaline fuelled situation, they are often not accurate, and obviously as psychologists and psychiatrists they understand memories because it's year one college stuff, so they should never have taken the account of those words as fact to assess whether she was psychotic at the time.

This was a highly traumatic situation so it's very possible Patrick misremembered what she said, maybe he asked if she tried to kill herself and she just tried to grunt a yes, rather than saying 'I tried to kill myself'.

Also he said he asked where the kids were and she said they were in the basement, but didn't he say that it took a few minutes to be able to make the call? so surely he would have asked her almost immediately where the kids were and then if she said they were in the basement why would he then ask her again when they were on the 9/11 call?

Reports vary about what reporters heard, some said they heard her say basement, others said they didn't hear her say anything, some reporters said Patrick said she jumped out the window, others said that he asked did she fall out of the window....so even when reporters were listening intently to report back what was said, reports varied.

In Patricks testimony he said he parked his car next to Lindsays when he arrived home. 3 minutes later he said that he didn't see Lindsays car as it was dark and her car is black. He also relayed the order in which he found the children in 2 different tellings. This is how reliable a traumatic event alters one's memory.

Lindsay said she remembered cutting the screen in the bedroom but the screen was intact.

Midnightmoonface · 26/08/2026 14:39

I’m not sure how that relates to a legal confession.

My point was if you don’t remember something, or have no knowledge of it, and someone else then told you what happened, and you repeat that, is that a confession that you have made?

No, its not a confession. Its surely just repeating what someone has informed you about. If you have NO knowledge.....

fashionqueen0123 · 28/08/2026 11:10

I thought they did test them and the only prints found were his.

They didn't test for prints but they did test for DNA. Only Patricks were present but then he did untie the bands. Weird that there were no prints found on the knife that Lindsay used to cut her own throat, with her non dominant left hand. She 'used' several different versions of suicide and as a nurse she would have know which way to cut her own wrists to be successful.

Also way would Lindsay need to google search carotid? As a nurse she would not only know where it is but also how to spell it, the search for word carotid was spelt incorrectly.

EverMerge · 03/09/2026 17:48

God if only all these professionals were as clever at thinking as you lot!

Just because you have not seen the evidence does not mean it does not exist. This case is about her criminal responsibility.

The prosecution do not have to prove she committed the crime. If they did all these questions you ask would be answered. Because the only evidence is not “Patrick told her” (fyi she was the person who told doctors and psychiatrists all the details, not PC)

"It’s not really odd that some people think the husband did it - statistically it’s far more likely"

Really how many statistics are there on people who have murdered their kids then successfully pinned it on their depressed partner who hid things from their doctors? Where both defence and prosecution accept the depressed partner did it? That's a lot of conditional probabilities.

Or are these statistics based solely on the fact that he has a penis and she doesn't? People suspect him solely for being a man then concoct outlandish theories for how he must have done it.

Pure misandry

"interesting that her MIL is supporting and giving evidence for her"

Case dismissed then 🤣

Edited

Not suggesting the husband did it but equally the case against her (I.e. that it was premeditated) is based on conditional probabilities.
I haven't seen anything myself which makes me think that it's beyond reasonable doubt that she planned this.

Walkden · 03/09/2026 18:39

"Not suggesting the husband did it but equally the case against her (I.e. that it was premeditated) is based on conditional probabilities"

Granted - but many commentators and indeed posters on Mumsnet seem to be denying that she killed them at all.

Can you really apply population statistics to a situation where you have a depressed psychotic woman and a man with no history of violence..

EraOfTheGrey · 03/09/2026 20:04

She says she did it but she doesn't have a memory of doing it. She obviously believed she did it because of the dark thoughts she admitted to having prior. It wasn't a leap for her.

Exactly, it can be incredibly unreliable so using Patricks recollection of her words at that time as evidence she wasn't psychotic was intellectually dishonest from the CW experts. Reddington did of course touch on the memory possibly being flawed, but he should have really made concede how unreliable the memory can be in situations like that.

When asked Patrick couldn't answer whether the 5:24 email that he sent to work was sent from his surface pro whilst at home or from his phone when he was out. This email was important to the timeline.

I don't think the CW has proven with a reasonable doubt that Lindsay wasn't in psychosis.

Everyone can offer a theory, their theory and therefore their opinion but it won't stand scrutiny if they deviate from fact. So much of this case is based on 'expert' opinion. I can't believe a Dr who says a episiotomy is just a tear, the same Dr is a psychiatrist in a children's hospital (or was before he resigned a day after testimony.)
I can't put stock in a psychiatrist who only had a license for 1 month and treated Lindsay over Zoom. The same psychiatrist who changed Lindsays medications 13 times in 4 months, 8 different medications. Nurse Practitioner gave Lindsay 8 prescriptions in 6 weeks. That is just 2 medical 'experts' that Lindsay was treated by. She tried to get help and everyone threw medications at her.

I won't even go into the ER doctor who saw Lindsay on admission and forgot everything about her, no recollection of her injuries or details of her appearance. This was after reading her medical notes prior to the testimony. The medical professionals really dropped the ball.
