Misandry and Mumsnet

Is it acceptable to hate on men openly without apology? Would it be ok of it were the other way round.

As a woman and mother of sons, the attitudes and comments on MN border on hate speech and I think Mumsnet HQ should do something about it.

Is this really how we want to balance the scales?

More men than women suffer serious assaults.
The vast majority of people who assault them are men.
The vast majority of people who assault women are men, too.
Therefore I think it's reasonable to draw a conclusion about men.
You'll find that men draw the same conclusion.

The only men who claim not to share this conclusion are men complaining at women for surfacing this general conclusion.
I doubt they complain at men saying the same things.
That's because they're misogynists attempting to control women.
Fuck them.

You absolutely can generalise about men committing far more rapes than women and loads of people are doing exactly that in this very thread.

Tell me you don’t know the definition of rape in uk law, without telling me.

Assuming this is aimed at me... Err what?

Actually, I think they aren't trained. It was decided a fair while ago that overpowering crims is such a chaotic thing that you can't give people a set of holds that mean they win every fight. So they wing it. (I'm told.)

If such training did exist then women could get that training so they could walk men home. Or do you think women are inherently less good at overpowering crims?

The average man is between 50 and 100% stronger than the average women and 12% faster. So what do you think?
A female police officer has some protection, in that some men who will happily attack a female member of the public may think twice about committing the offence of assaulting a police officer wearing a body cam, who can call for back up and his immediate arrest. She also has a baton, CS spray and handcuffs.

You need a penis to rape in uk law.

the only people who can rape are those who possess a penis. So men.

100% of people who commit the offence of rape in the uk are men.

it’s not a generalisation. It’s a legal fact.

A woman can't rape, under UK law a rape can only be committed with a penis. Your reply about men committing more rapes than women was a bit pointless

They are trained.

im a 5ft woman in her 50s. With disabilities.

I couldn’t fight off a man built like a potato and all of about 5ft 7.

id take any training but unfortunately when you’re being raped you don’t always fight back.

perhaps you’re not aware of the undercurrent of victim blaming and slightly mocking tone in your post but you might want to bear it in mind going forward.

Eh? I'm sure you're not claiming that facts and a generalisations are always mutually exclusive. Yet I can't read it any other way. Help me out.

Christ, it wasn't even my assertion, I was agreeing with someone else's.

Taztoy · 27/08/2026 19:37

Who decided it a while ago @DannyDeever ? Where can I read the guidance on that? I’d be really interested to rebut their assumptions and interested why they made such a short sighted decision. Can you share a link that identifies who made this decision and the basis on which it was made please. Thanks.

Nope. I can't evidence it at all. Hitchen's law applies. Two friends who are police officers told me verbally.

Both, as was what I said. Most ducks have bills. That is a fact and also a generalisation. They are not mutually exclusive.

Weird. You really were saying that they are mutually exclusive. 🤯

Poor Danny has trouble with rational thought, it seems.
Here's the info he seemed incapable of googling for himself.

Yes I think women are inherently less good at overpowering crims violent rapists, i don't think that fact can be refuted TBH or there wouldn't actually as much violent crime commited against women.

What point are you actually trying to make? That women should just try harder when attacked?

Please stop with the emojis. It’s offensive.

I never said such a thing.

that is a legal fact. A woman cannot rape as she does not possess a penis with which to commit the relevant offence.

cantthinkofagoodusername2026 · 27/08/2026 19:47

Misandry isn’t the same as misogyny though, is it? As someone once said: men are afraid of women laughing at them, while women are afraid of men killing them.
If a woman hates men, she just wants them to leave her alone. If a man hates a woman, he seeks to harm her.

I think he's trying for another gotcha. He is trying to imply that unless we agree that women should walk men home to protect them, we are saying that women aren't as fit as men to be police officers. He isn't very good at gotchas and this is a particularly poor attempt.

Taztoy · 27/08/2026 19:52

So @DannyDeever what should I have done to stop my very violent rapist? Can you tell me what I should have done according to you and your copper mates?

Whereas my niece is currently training to be a police officer. They are definitely undergo self defence and personal safety training. Not only that, when trained they have to have regular refresher training.

I'm not claiming they don't have self defence and personal safety training. I'm claiming I was told they don't have "overpowering and arresting scrotes" training beciase it's so chaotic there aren't set moves youncan apply. It's literally a no holds barred aggression fueled fight.

Perhaps they're different forces.

Either way. Your evidence is "your niece told you" and my evidence is "two mates told me" so forumites can apply Hitchen's law and ignore us both!
