Does anyone else feel the UK is heading towards a crisis?

Price rises not coming down, cost of living gone mad, car crashes, heatwave after heat wave, wild fires.
NHS is falling, NHS dentist is like winning the loto, threats from russia.
Bills cost more than anything.
Benefit bill is out of control.
People getting attacked.

I may have missed a few things, but it feels like the UK is just building up to something big gonna kick off.
Im sure it won't but life is just crap right now.
Not to mention we are gonna get a hell of a winter with this EL nion predicted.

I feel like saying lets have a full war and end this crap then re start again( figure of speech), not living just surviving.
And the cost of being a parent now is unreal.

Rant over.

BoredZelda - I have been following your arguments on this for some time now and I am worried that you fail to grasp the position. The pamphlets are issued by the UK Government to the boat refugees / migrants or asylum seekers (whatever fits the statistics you keep talking about). If you equate this with other leaflets or pamphlets we issued to British soldiers whilst abroad the natural inference would be that the boats paddling across to our sunny shores are also filled by an army or rather an invasion. (of course most of the occupants are male)
You also missing the point that this is not about groups of whatever other categories we wish to create. It is the lack of integration by these groups et al. The mere fact that we issue a pamphlet is an indictment that we have lost the argument. It is a sad state of affairs that we have to state what should be fairly obvious to decent law abiding citizens. Whilst it is not a prerogative of a certain groups et al to be labelled as solely responsible for all attacks on women (there are plenty of indigenous culprits) it is the underlying culture that is an issue. You can quote numbers and statistics all day and throw accusations of what my political persuasions may or may not be (or indeed you can hide behind your alleged migrant status) you also know nothing of me, my heritage or indeed my religion. Your attempt to label me is indicative of an ignorance that hides behind loud accusations to intimidate. I express my views and concern to what I see in modern Britain for which I do not need to have statistics issued by a Government (or rather Governments) that have let it all happen without considering what a large section of society things but is frighten to express for fear of people like you. Numbers can be manipulated to fit your argument and if you rely on numbers you have to be prepared to set a limit of what is acceptable and what is not. Is it 1%, 5% or 20% or whatever percentage that is acceptable. Be prepared to be challenged when that percentage is breached and not support what all Governments have done in the past; when the numbers no longer support your argument just change the definition. That reminds of a book - Winston Smith's job was exactly that to change definitions and other facts to fit the situation in hand.

Well said…

Was it similar to this?

We have had to have a publicity campaign to tell men not to choke women. That it is illegal.😢

With these posts is it to show countries are pretty much the same?

Sudan, Iran, Afghanistan is the same to here? Is that what some posters believe

Because you are offensive and Mumsnet agreed I’m guessing?

Yes, apparently they do 👀

Oh absolutely. It’s the absolutely tiny number of asylum seekers that are DEFINITELY the problem. They’re living in hotels being paid for by us whilst somehow also simultaneously taking all the council houses. They’re lazy and claiming all the benefits so they don’t have to work whilst somehow also “coming over here, taking all our jobs”. They’re committing all the rapes, whilst simultaneously kindly allowing the white british men who commit the vast majority of rapes and sexual assaults in the UK to have a go as well. They’re forcing us all to be Muslim and implementing Sharia law, despite less than 7% of the UK being Muslim and the vast majority of those being British born.

That’s definitely the issue, not the billionaires and huge corporations evading their taxes whilst benefiting from the system. Asylum seekers are definitely the issue, not people like Farage who want you to hate brown people and focus your anger on the fact you don’t have what he has on immigrants, who don’t have what he has either, not on him and his pals for profiteering mercilessly and taking more than their share.

Well done, you for figuring it out….. Hmm

Sanity at last.

Our dentist was nhs it is now private - we pay monthly for a family plan for all 5 of us and it gives everyone 2 check ups and me and my dp as adults 2 visits to the hygienists inbetween, money off the treatments and X-rays etc etc and our dentist has referred my eldest to the orthodontists at the hospital for braces and it was accepted.
the monthly plan is about £45 for all of us and yes we could spend that money eating out or whatever but I prioritise this direct debit as keeping everyone’s teeth healthy is important and will hopefully help promote good oral health to my kids but also avoid problems as they get older.

Same. I think it's actually less stressful being private. At least I have a dentist. It's a monthly outgoing, but I don't get any surprise bills unless we need to pay a technician's fee. I treat it like a phone contract. A little every month is better than a whopping dentist bill every 6 months, and my teeth have always been crap.

Can’t work out if you’re being ironic.
I quietly hope you are as I am really not sure how the erasure of our farms will benefit us either personally or nationally. Can you please explain how it will? Thank you.

Farmers just need to knuckle down and pay their taxes like the rest of us have to.

Oh it can but the far right want to create a myth it can’t .

I was warned in the late 1990s by one of my teachers not to expect a state pension and an NHS. He was not far right and didn't seem to have an agenda.

It was the 90s when Australia realised that they had a massive problem on the way and made some pretty fundamental long term changes. The UK has a tendency to follow Australia. However, UK politicians (and the senior civil servants advising them) have consistently failed to properly address the inevitable and obvious problem, just farting around with SERPS, S2P, contracting out, etc., only to scrap all those. They couldn't run a booze up in a brewery, and I'm talking about ALL parties, as they're all incompetent muppets when it comes to pensions and have all made mammoth mistakes. But as always, it Joe Public who pays the price of their incompetence.

@BoredZeldado you see any differences between here and say Afghanistan in terms of how women and girls are treated?

Also Sudan, Eritrea or Pakistan to widen it out a bit

How a nation under their own laws treats women has absolutely no bearing on whether and ideology will transfer to another nation because of a very small percentage of people move there. But, that’s not really an example of them bringing an ideology that will affect women generally, beyond what we have already in the U.K. Women already have to be wary of men they don’t know, that hasn’t changed for centuries. They also have to be wary of men they do know but that’s another issue. Are these men coming over and insisting we wear a burka? That we stop educating girls? That we cannot drive or sing in public spaces? What of their ideology will impact us beyond the suggestion we might be sexually assaulted (despite the fact that the vast majority of asylum seekers and refugees have no criminal record for this in the U.K.), because it appears the result of that is that we need to be concerned for our safety, and that’s been the case for me since I was a kid in the 80s.

Is that all you’ve got?

I would respond to each of your points in detail but when I did it last time, you had it deleted. (Funny how those who espouse freedom of speech will do that)

In any event, you have been very clear you don’t need statistics, facts, data or even experiences of other people to back up your stance. That’s absolutely fine. People can make up their own minds about that.

You realise when you resort to petty insults, you are simply showing you have nowhere else to go?

I could have this response removed for being against MN guidelines, but I prefer not to censor others for giving their opinions. Better to let it stand so people can see their thoughts.

What do you think is causing it all worldwide? Just the way things go?

Did I miss where this became an ideology in British Culture? These would be counted in the number of women in the U.K. killed by a partner/family annually. It’s roughly 1% of that number, so is it really accurate to say they are bringing an ideology that doesn’t exist here? Are British White men not violent to women? Does it matter to the victim that it is referred to as “honour” violence rather than controlling or jealousy violence?

The question isn’t about whether those men do those things, the question is whether those things do not already happen in such massive numbers that bringing that to our shores fundamentally changes the fabric of society (as has been claimed here), or is something we are wholly shocked to see men doing.

I’m sure you’ll say “yeah, why bring in more” but as I’ve said before, focusing only on women’s’ safety in the context of immigration is like closing a window when it’s raining and ignoring the fucking great hole in the roof.

Yes but you’re skipping over the victims of the crimes. It didn’t have to happen at all.

We could have a system that stops it.
