Firstly I appreciate this is not the same for the rest of the country

but we’ve had it horrific here (London). I’ve never felt so shit in my life as I have for the last 10 weeks. I’ve spent between £250-350 a month on electricity (portable air conditioners). I’ve felt anxious, headachy, it’s FUCKED with my peri menopause (brain fog, no words, cognitive decline). I’ve felt tearful and as if it would go on forever. There are moments where I’ve thought I can’t take another moment of this. My sleep is proper fucked.

this has to change. I’ve done everything on a personsl
level I can. Air conditioners only when necessary, above 26 inside (DH has long Covid so literally throws up in heat). His asthma is exacerbated. The dogs have had the shittest summer. I’ve had a couple of rescues that can’t go out about 22 degrees. I reckon they’ve been walked briefly 3 times a week. We deliberately went away on a cheap caravan holiday twice just so they could smile. There were endless days I couldn’t work as too hot in my home office and clients cancelled.

I cannot wait til Saturday.

I hope for solidarity from others. I want to wear a fucking hoodie again. I’ve spent every day sat around in my underwear inside for vast stretches of the day. This is not sexy.

Amusing for you maybe, but quite worrying for those of us thinking about the prices of food and availability of water in the near future.

(I wouldn’t dream of going to Spain or anywhere else in Southern Europe between June-September. Hot weather makes me irritable and I burn very easily so these ‘heatwaves’ haven’t been particularly amusing to me).

I’m on the south coast and we had a good few hours of rain this morning- I was delighted. That was the first proper rain shower we’ve had for nearly 9 weeks . Nowhere near enough yet, but I’m glad it came down steadily and not a deluge as that would have caused flooding.

Well, there's loads more in Ireland, some torrential earlier, no doubt coming Wales/ England's way soon.

I'm taking the credit for the cooler temps and rain local to me anyway. I just finally bit the bullet and bought an expensive ceiling fan for my bedroom so OF COURSE it's now turned chilly 😂

In my experience yes. They work very well.

Good news - the Met Office long range forecast has updated to remove the mention of possible heatwaves.

I guess this doesn't mean they're completely impossible but they clearly think they're less likely than before.

Here we've had our third consecutive night of showers - it doesn't look like it's very much but hopefully a little bit soaks in.

I highly recommend freezer slippers for cooling you down. Amazon have them and just make sure you put socks on first. They are great.

Finally, some big fat drops of rain. If we have had some before this, it must have been when I was asleep. Had a little dance around the garden, Hope the neighbours didn't see! It smells amazing!

In Northern Ireland and it is actually quite chilly today. Had rain, some v heavy. Jumper on. Am actually thinking of putting the heating on for an hour.

Anyway, I hope that gives someone hope.

Just had a lovely big downpour here in my part of Hertfordshire. I haven't seen any rain since mid June apart from a slight overnight piddle earlier this week. Today it was torrential, if short lived, but it has been glorious!!

Just read that the Sussexes have rocked up in the UK by private jet from California. Despite rabbiting on about climate change and protecting the planet, they have chosen probably the most environmentally damaging option possible. Sick of these privileged twats lecturing us endlessly. Why can't they travel first class on a regular flight, they're not even titled royals anymore!
