It’s over tomorrow, the heat is over for another year

Firstly I appreciate this is not the same for the rest of the country Flowers

but we’ve had it horrific here (London). I’ve never felt so shit in my life as I have for the last 10 weeks. I’ve spent between £250-350 a month on electricity (portable air conditioners). I’ve felt anxious, headachy, it’s FUCKED with my peri menopause (brain fog, no words, cognitive decline). I’ve felt tearful and as if it would go on forever. There are moments where I’ve thought I can’t take another moment of this. My sleep is proper fucked.

this has to change. I’ve done everything on a personsl
level I can. Air conditioners only when necessary, above 26 inside (DH has long Covid so literally throws up in heat). His asthma is exacerbated. The dogs have had the shittest summer. I’ve had a couple of rescues that can’t go out about 22 degrees. I reckon they’ve been walked briefly 3 times a week. We deliberately went away on a cheap caravan holiday twice just so they could smile. There were endless days I couldn’t work as too hot in my home office and clients cancelled.

I cannot wait til Saturday.

I hope for solidarity from others. I want to wear a fucking hoodie again. I’ve spent every day sat around in my underwear inside for vast stretches of the day. This is not sexy.

I totally agree. We've got a terrible fire going on locally , praying for rain to give our firefighters a break. People have lost everything today, their homes, everything they own and this weather is just destroying our countryside.

🙏🙏🙏 for the rain now! I can not wait for winter.

Starlightstargazer · Yesterday 22:37

I can’t wait! It’s been relentless heat here. I feel so sad for the farmers, people who’ve lost homes, wildlife! We need a balance and not extremes (said to whoever controls the climate!!)

ThumbTowers · Yesterday 22:38

Solidarity here too, I absolutely hate this weather. It feels never ending. Would gladly buy a portable air con unit but can't find them in stock anywhere. I feel like my life is paused.

We have lots of fans. They work really well.

Sunshineandrainbow · Yesterday 22:40

It's fucking awful, currently sat naked on bed with ice pack on thighs with fan on max.

Is the weekend better then as I have stopped looking at the weather as work has been horrendous and it felt easier to just not know.

hotmumshit · Yesterday 22:41

Is it really over though? What makes you think its over?

God, please let it be over.

Cockerpoomom · Yesterday 22:42

We will be moaning next when we get the never ending rain which will cause floods, we just can't win.

Terrible to see those homes on fire in the news - they’ve lost everything. A lot of plants have died and I don’t feel I can bear another minute of it. Have to take a train and tube tomorrow- dreading it.

PrettyLittleRose · Yesterday 22:44

No way is it over! It's over for maybe 4-5 days, maybe a week, but we will have another heatwave before the summer is over. Maybe even more than one! Even tomorrow it's going to be 27C where I am!

Nousernameideaaga · Yesterday 22:44

I’m with you OP 🥵

Just hope that when the rain does arrive not too many suffer due to floods

Cant wait for autumn 🎃

hugasaurus · Yesterday 22:45

I’ve been so thankful for Scottish weather this summer! Hope you all get some much-needed relief down south. Those temperatures look awful.

LaurieFairyCake · Yesterday 22:45

There’s loads of air conditioners on Amazon from 365 pounds to be delivered in next 2 weeks. They will only be more expensive next year

its DEFINITELY OVER
nothing above 26 for two weeks

AFTER tomorrow - 36 in London tomorrow. Then two weeks of nothing about 26.

squirrelchops2 · Yesterday 22:46

I feel for farmers having to feed winter stocks now and animals. Also anyone or anything hurt in fires but in all honesty apart from today I've not been bothered by the heat.

ItsPickleRick · Yesterday 22:47

I’m with you.

I usually love hot weather, but watching the country burn, the wildlife that is suffering, and the people who have lost their homes today has been awful. I have horses, there is no grass. They are struggling in these temperatures.

We are not built for this heat. Our local firefighters are averaging 6 shouts a day at the minute.

Forecast 29 degrees tomorrow and overcast, and then lower temperatures and some rain from Saturday onwards. Please let this be the end 🙏

LaurieFairyCake · Yesterday 22:47

I like rain. I’m from up north. I feel happy in rain. Happier in 15 degrees though. Fuck me I love a scarf. I own hundreds.

lovingthebeachlife · Yesterday 22:51

is it definitely over? Throughout the whole summer the weather app has showed rain & cooler temps a week away, but it never happens!

Shinyandnew1 · Yesterday 22:51

We aren’t far from London and it’s still saying 27 here Saturday/Monday/Tuesday. Still lots of 🥵

OneNewEagle · Yesterday 22:53

I’m in the SE, my forecast doesn’t show it’s over at all. No rain mentioned.

Sunshineandrainbow · Yesterday 22:53

Oh no I looked and says 31 for me tomorrow on BBC

33 for me…I prefer not to look.

GentleSheep · Yesterday 22:54

It's not 'over' tomorrow, sorry to say! Maybe not the peak temperature but still hot and no sign of rain. W. Midlands tomorrow will be 30 and then a whole week of 24-26 endless sun. Too hot for me and am dying for some proper rain!

LaurieFairyCake · Yesterday 22:55

Over AFTER tomorrow. SATURDAY is the down. One more day
