Why hasn’t Brad Pitt been cancelled?

Why hasn’t Brad Pitt been cancelled? I don’t even really pay attention to celebrity news but I see occasional things that he’s divorced, alcoholic, was abusive to his wife and children, children don’t want his last name, etc. Especially because his ex (Angelina Jolie) seems to be idolised for her beauty and humanitarian work. It’s not like people don’t like her!

Is Brad Pitt just too handsome? What’s the deal?

She can choose not to. Which it sounds like she did, to not drag her kids into it. It wasn’t only an option in the 90s. HTH.

Domestic violence victims cannot drop charges in California, and in most American states, if not all. They can't bring them, either.

But California definitely has policy against this. It's called a no-drop policy. You are completely wrong that AJ could decide not to press charges.

Cancelling people sounds pretty dystopian to me.

All this stuff trickles down eventually into everyday life and before long, we will be back to ordinary people being "shunned" for something that wasn't strong enough to go to court but was instead tried in the court of public opinion.

It's always men-usually white men-who are cancelled, so I wonder how we would feel if our husbands or sons were shunned for wolf whistling. Far fetched? Maybe. Maybe not.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, rapists and murderers are about to be set free after having served only a portion of their sentence and Asian men who took active roles in rape gangs are not shunned or cancelled by their communities.

Tis all bollocks.

This is such s silly comparison. The fact some men in some communities are not punished does not mean that powerful white abusers should be left of the hook. Statistically, many while male abusers are not cancelled even though they should.

Don't follow celeb news so know nothing about this but cancelling people because of their private lives is a bit strong. Just don't watch him if you disapprove. Unless someone's 'crimes' mean they should work in certain areas then it's up to their employers whoever they may be.

I don’t. Watch them I mean. Pitt or Leto or Jackson.

Pitt - the US is quite tolerant of domestic abuse particularly among movie stars; Leto none of the girls who spoke out have filed a formal police report afaik so it’s never been formalised; but Jackson should have been cancelled 100%.

We have a blanket ban on Michael Jackson in our house, I have personally cancelled him as far as I can.

Victorius19 · Yesterday 10:58

I'd pretty much hazard a guess that he and Angelina are as bad as each other. I feel horribly sorry for the children that she appears to be manipulating.

Cheese55 · Yesterday 11:08

glitterpaperchain · Yesterday 10:45

I don't think cancelling is really a thing. The amount of men who have been 'cancelled' yet their careers are doing just fine

Yes I've often thought that. What money is Philip scholfield living off. He's relatively young so savings would've run out if he had any.

SamAylward · Yesterday 11:09

Perhaps because most decent people find the concept of "cancelling" a fellow human being to be repellent?

The reason why the Asian rapists are not shunned by their own communities is because the communiy doesn't think they did anything wrong as white young women are trash. The misogyny is rife within these communities.

For middle of the road crimes and misdemeanours cancelling is moot. They still need to work.

Do I think someone should be cancelled for prolific paedophilia - 100%. Particularly as Jackson used his status to abuse.

But cancelling women and children's accounts of abuse is okay?

DilettanteRedRagger · Yesterday 11:21

You think UHNW individuals of any type get cancelled for what they do??? 🤣

Hollywood is still absolutely full to the brim with addicts, abusers, and rapists of every flavour.

You only get canceled if you can’t control the media.

I suspect Mr. Pitt’s talent agency has PeopleMZ Weekly on a tight leash.

I think that’s the perception. That he’s dumb and she’s manipulative. People were very critical about him leaving Jennifer Aniston and running off with Angelina. They lost some of their audience at that point.

Not long after Angelina filed for divorce was initiated it became clear Anniston still considers him a friend. Like Clooney she enjoys a stellar reputation so that will have helped cast doubt on the accusations against Brad.

MorwennaIII · Yesterday 11:23

Because it’s the modern day equivalent of pitch forks.
it’s not perfect but we have rule of law for good reason and which is far preferable to mob rule.

I read some of her filings yesterday and Angelina’s attorneys claim never to have made these accusations public until she was forced five years later and only then it was over the sale of Miraval.

EarlofShrewsbury · Yesterday 11:37

It is chilling that some women will bend over backwards to blame women for a man’s rampant abuse.

It's chilling that some women refuse to accept that women can also be the bag guy, and they use their womanhood to play the victim.

It happens. Those of us that have had to deal with narcissistic, psychopathic people in the past are usually good at spotting the signs. Angelina is not good.

Holidaymodeon · Yesterday 11:38

But again, you insist in your previous comment BP "worked hard to turn his life around" but you seem to refuse to think maybe so has AJ? Like, you see her still as she was in her 20s, and imply that all the humanitarian work is just a front, but somehow believe that BP miraculously turned his life around and it's surely true, because he said so? And AJ has no integrity because she stole husbands etc, but Brad .... has integrity although he cheated and?
Yeah, I see no issue with that reasoning.
I mean, who knows, maybe AJ is weird after, maybe so is Brad, maybe they ate as bad as each other. From little do I know about celeb life behind the scenes, the most shocking things never make it to public eye. But you are very biased in your opinions, criticising one person for something while totally absolving the other despite them having done the same thing.

Agree.
Ugh crazy listing all the performative nonsense of AJ for headlines in the 1990s, bottom line, BP cheated on his wife publicly and AJ was part of that.
all the stuff she did in her youth is neither here nor there.
i was a wild one (not a rich celebrity child though), i did mental things but would not expect people to hold it against me 30 odd years later should my marriage publicly explode like this and my children estranged from their dad.
whatever the truth is, he has admitted to a drink and ‘drug’ issue and supposedly getting help / got help.
people only usually truly admit this and seek help when their behaviour or addiction has got out of control or seriously damaged their lives or relationships.
i don’t doubt that he was a nightmare at times.
he was also a young Hollywood star, which doesn’t really bode well for them as they become adults. We know this, history shows us, recent and past history. I never understood why people were so desperate to defend depp. Good actors who are unbelievably handsome and star in great movies aren’t necessarily the nicest of people behind the scenes and we will likely never know the full truth but that Father’s Day message is damning. I have privately sent similar to my very abusive parent.

GingerBeverage · Yesterday 11:43

AJ’s two other ex husbands are openly still friends with her.

But that doesn’t fit the witch narrative.

Rosanov · Yesterday 11:44

Because he’s an attractive and, crucially, a man.
if Chris Brown can’t be cancelled, then you have no chance of Brad Pitt facing any consequences.
Hes the one who cheated on Jennifer Anniston, but AJ is the villain in the story. It’s all laughable really.

Sassylovesbooks · Yesterday 11:46

The public only knows what's been reported in the media. We don't actually know IF Brad has done anything wrong or not. The only two people who know the truth is Brad and Angelina. Their children don't know or understand their parents entire relationship. What a child perceives as correct, might not actually be the truth or it can be a 'truth' that a parent has peddled.

Personally, I have an open mind.

OneSparklyGoat · Yesterday 11:50

@Holidaymodeon I don’t always think one being bad/wrong makes the other right.

The Father’s Day message seemed to possibly have its roots in parental alienation. I would not have encouraged that as a parent on either side.

Ronan Farrow does a similar Father's day message.

If you're children are adults you let them speak their minds.

I googled the kissing the brother. Not to see the video but to read what happened.
Apparently it was a kiss on the lips at the excitement of winning an award for girl, interrupted.
Its weird yes, but someone on here said it was full.blown snogging on the red carpet.

Edited

It wasn’t a one-time spontaneous thing. If you do an image search on Google for “Angelina Jolie kissed brother,” you’ll find pictures of different kisses at multiple events. She’s wearing different outfits and she and her brother are posed in different ways.

Because he’s a successful white male. The bar is only set high for women and minorities.

Yes. See also Johnny Depp. And, earlier, Mel Gibson.

Then Oksana Grigorieva provided unassailable, audio evidence of Gibson's threats and abuse, as well as an admission that he hit a woman with a child in her arms. Later he was caught on camera on numerous occasions engaging in antisemitic abuse.

Oh, well, in that case she must have driven him to it. Or she was a 'gold digger'.

Likewise, Jolie is guilty of 'parental alienation'. It cannot be possible that six children all decided from their own observations and using their own minds that they wanted their father to have no part of their adult lives.

I was one such child. I'm well aware that living with an abusive, alcoholic father is no picnic, and I'm able to see that for myself with no imput whatsoever from my mother. As for my father's side of the story? 'She turned the children against me!' (My mother was incapable of such behaviour. We despised the man long before we even left home, and in some ways even resented her for not leaving him soon and better protecting us).

It's never, ever the man's fault, especially when you place the blame on the nearest available woman. And sometimes the children, too.

Cheese55 · Yesterday 12:03

This is her statement. Doesn't mean it's not full of lies.

I dislike AJ, I think she's a psychopath, and I'm not convinced that Brad is a bad person.

Here's why:

AJ has been trouble her whole life. She was with an older boyfriend at 14 and was planning to go and live on the streets with him, so her mother let her move him in to keep her safe. Started her fast lifestyle early.

  • She used to do heroin. Heroin! That is some seriously fucked-up shit.
  • She was photographed snogging her brother.
  • She wore a vial of some bloke's blood around her neck.
  • She was on her third marriage while still in her thirties.
  • She helped herself to Jennifer Aniston's husband.
  • She helped herself to Laura Dern's fiance.

Some humanitarian. She's all about caring for other humans as long as you don't have the man she wants. Then you're toast. Amazing how she forgets the humanity of the women whose men she stole.

About Brad:

  • He was investigated by the FBI and not charged. AJ does not have the authority to decide whether he gets charged or not, so the above upthread about AJ's mercy is rubbish. Where children are involved, the authorities make the decision. Brad was later given 50/50 custody of the children, and AJ simply refused to comply. She complied only when threatened with prison by a judge. She is absolutely fucking awful.
  • NONE of Brad Pitt's many previous girlfriends, fiancees, or wives have ever said that he was abusive to them. His current girlfriend, who he's been with for some time now, doesn't seem to have any complaints either.

I'm not denying that Brad lost his temper on that plane. Children can push you to breaking point, and there are six of them, plus AJ refused to ever correct them or discipline them, according to reports from people who have worked for her. No regular bedtimes or anything boring and sensible like that. (By discipline I mean consequences, not physical discipline, before the nutters come for me.) Brad did want to being them up in the normal way, with regular bedtimes and meal times and being made to brush their teeth etc. He said on the plane, apparently, "Mummy is ruining this family!"

I think Brad was pushed to breaking point on that plane by the large amount of uncontrolled children and the fact that AJ would not work with him in instilling routines and consequences.

I do not think that losing his temper like that was OK. Of course it wasn't. But it seems to have been a one-off. AJ has never complained about him being like that at other times.

Since then, he has admitted that he had a problem with alcohol and weed, and he has got help. He has turned life around. But still there is no forgiveness for him, all these years later. One incident, and that's it, he virtually never sees his family again, despite Brad being given 50/50 access. AJ just ignored the court order. She carried out a sustained, textbook campaign of parental alienation, so bad that it's permanent, because of one incident, after which he sought treatment.

Brad Pitt has been around in Hollywood for a very long time, and no one he's ever dated, been engaged or married to, or has worked with, has had bad things to say about him. He made mistakes with drink and weed, and he certainly made a mistake when he lost it on that plane. But I see nothing to indicate that he should be cut off from his children forever more. If AJ was a good person and a good parent, she'd be facilitating their relationship with their dad, like Jennifer Garner does with Ben Affleck, despite his alcohol problems.

Anyone with an ounce of common sense can weigh all this up and see that it's more than likely that AJ, the complete weirdo, is behind all this, not Brad, who's never had problems with anyone but her.

She put her desire to have her children all to herself before their welfare, and as for Brad's pain at virtually never seeing his children again, well, who cares about his feelings, right?

She's a horrible, horrible person.

Doing heroin does not make you a bad person. If she's single, its up to the men who are in relationships to say no.

MyMilchick · Yesterday 12:07

I mean people literally believe (ex?)alcoholic Brad over AJ and all of their children because he's a good looking male star. In fact people even blame his drinking on AJ. Also, people have short memories. I remember back when he cheated on and left JA for AJ(ha I just realised that they have the same initials backwards), people blamed Brad's cheating on JA because she was probably a bitch and she put her career and body over Brad wanting children. Now since all this AJ and kids stuff has happened, JA was his soul mate and he should have stayed with her because she loved him and evil AJ lured poor innocent him away..............you couldn't make it up. Whatever happens to Brad it's always the womans fault
