Why hasn’t Brad Pitt been cancelled?

Why hasn’t Brad Pitt been cancelled? I don’t even really pay attention to celebrity news but I see occasional things that he’s divorced, alcoholic, was abusive to his wife and children, children don’t want his last name, etc. Especially because his ex (Angelina Jolie) seems to be idolised for her beauty and humanitarian work. It’s not like people don’t like her!

Is Brad Pitt just too handsome? What’s the deal?

It’s hearsay. I read something about a big argument on a private jet between the family but whether or not there has been any witnesses or legal follow up I don’t know. AJ is a brilliant actress but seems to lack the likability factor of Jenifer Anniston and I think a lot of people dislike her for that. It’s a bit like the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard thing - they were both clearly abusive to one another but she came off worse because people love him for his acting career.

I don't think that's what happened in court. Amber Heard came across to many people as deeply dishonest. The jury just didn't believe her version of events and watching it, neither did I. On the other hand, I've instantly 'gone off' various actors, musicians and so on when I've found out they were accused of doing something nasty and there's convincing evidence of it.

wow, the internalised misogyny is strong in this one. 'fast lifestyle' 🤣 are you typing from the 1920s?

'helped herself' to other women's partners? They aren't cakes at a buffet, they are fully grown men, who have agency over their own decisions! If anyone should be blamed it's them.

I don't care how badly behaved your children are, you don't hit and choke them, then throw beer over them while they are hiding under blankets from you.

4 of the 6 kids are over 18 now, AJ couldn't stop them if they wanted to form a relationship with BP as adults. Instead they've all refused to have anything to do with him. Even from a purely mercenary pov, you'd think that most people would want to take advantage of links to an extremely famous and rich parent, even if you privately didn't feel that fondly towards them. The fact they can't even pretend to be polite towards him for the occasional meet up but have instead publicly disavowed him is telling.

Even by your own argument - say AJ was a wild, argumentative, oversexed lunatic - the fact all of the kids STILL prefer to stay with her/on her 'side' suggests the alternative must be even worse!

Edited

I resent being called a misogynist. I am not one, just because I don't automatically believe all the nonsense that comes from someone's mouth just because they're female.

Why are you so credulous about AJ's allegations? Three separate US agencies investigated and didn't charge him: The FBI, the US Attorney, and the LA DCFS (Dept of Children and Families.) There was a brawl in mid-air and AJ alleges that BP was out of control and yelling the whole flight, choking children and pouring beer over them, and yet the pilot ignored all aviation laws and did not inform traffic control, land the plane asap, have the police waiting for him to be arrested inside the plane and escorted out in cuffs, didn't even tell him to sit down, apparently.

Use your common sense. The reasons for the above is that AJ's allegations were likely exaggerated. Although I'm sure he did lose his temper.

The children have been brainwashed since they were very young - after the plane incident.

Yes, technically we should not blame the woman when it comes to stealing men. Of course, and usually, I don't. But meanwhile back in the real world, it makes a difference if it's Angelina Jolie making eyes at your bloke or Deirdre from accounts.

To be clear, I'm still blaming the men more. But AJ used her exceptional beauty to get what she wanted - THREE times! I might blame the men more, but she's hardly a paragon of virtue, is she?

I agree with pp. I think there was abuse on both sides and on balance probably more on Depp’s as he has a well documented tendency to get off his head and “smash everything”. Just ask Ellen Barkin and Winona Ryder and various hotels.

But far, far too many women want to fuck Depp for him to have to take responsibility for his behaviour. Same goes for Pitt.

For someone who doesn't automatically believe what you're told, you're posting a lot of supposition as facts in your post.

Do you see the irony?

Lots of reasons:

  • He's a talented actor who has been on the scene for decades, so has a large body of excellent work.
  • He is/was very physically attractive, and has been the recipient of lots of adoration from the press, so members of the public also (think they) like him personally.
  • People do not want to judge him because they feel they do not have enough credible evidence.
  • People do not like Angelina Jolie and believe she may be fabricating evidence and engaging in parental alienation.
  • As for the plane incident specifically, the statement made by AJ does raise questions (as seen on this thread), especially in relation to why the plane crew did not intervene in a violent incident, especially given there were young children involved.

It is also worth bearing in mind that:

  • The entertainment industry is notorious for covering things up. Often when the truth finally 'comes out' about a particular celebrity or industry heavyweight, it becomes clear that there was a long history of dodgy behaviour.

The reason why the Asian rapists are not shunned by their own communities is because the communiy doesn't think they did anything wrong as white young women are trash. The misogyny is rife within these communities.

Is this insight based on the fact that you yourself are Asian?

@Fedupoffeelingthisway111 - btw, on the Mark Wahlberg thing, even as an adult much later down the line, he sought a pardon for his sentencing on the racial hate crime…but to this day has refused to apologise to his victim.

you are a misogynist for blaming women for men's actions, simple as that.

She might have flirted with men - THEY decided to take it further and leave their partners. She didn't 'steal' or 'help herself' to them. They aren't watches or baked goods.

you're dredging up stuff from more than 35 years ago and deciding that forms someone's entire character and nothing they do in the decades since can change that. The stuff with the vial of blood etc isn't harming anyone - it might make her a bit weird (although personally I find it far less so than tattooing someone's name on you, which is apparently normal) but doesn't have anything to do with how sexually promiscuous she is!

Lots of people slept around in their early 20s. It would be more usual to find someone who hasn't had at least 1 failed marriage in Hollywood than who hasn't. BP had also had a string of 'failed' long term relationships by his thirties but you don't seem to think that's relevant, or somehow indicative of a innate character flaw, why?

Unlike BP there haven't been any rumours or gossip about AJ's dating life since they split a decade ago, but she's still the promiscuous slut? Again - misogyny!

You're perfectly entitled to not like anyone, male or female. Would AJ necessarily be someone I'd want to be mates with, probably not. But the language you use is incredibly toxic. If you can't see that I can't help you.

Use your own common sense - the plane allegations are incredibly damaging. If it wasn't true why wouldn't Pitt have sued anyone involved for libel? And the oldest kids would have been 12 and 14 at the time of the plane incident - not 'very young' children and old enough ten years later to be able to make their own minds up.

RafaFan · Yesterday 12:52

I think you need to go to Specsavers! I think AJ is an absolutely horrible person and probably a psychopath, but I can see that she has one of the most beautiful faces I've ever seen. She's perceived by most people to be physically incredibly beautiful. Shame about the inside, though.

Shiloh looks just like her, except with Brad's colouring and eyes, and she's stunning too.

In thought this about Michael Jackson. Several victims talked about his abuse and yet it's brushed under the carpet. People say you can't accuse him because he's dead and can't defend himself, yet that didn't seem to work for Jimmy Savile. Maybe it's because people want to continue listening to the music or in Brad's case watch his films without feeling guilty.

Who says you can’t accuse MJ? Plenty do. He was found not guilty in a court of law. Of course people will agree or disagree with that verdict, but you can’t say no one accuses MJ.

Also wasn’t mark wahlberg abusive to Kate moss in her early young modelling days and never apologised? Sorry to mark if I have the wrong mark but sure it was him.

I'm telling you what I believe because it's an opinion I formed while watching the trial.

I have no interest in Johnny Depp and certainly have never wanted to 'fuck' him. It's so insulting to have your opinion dismissed as being motivated by some idiotic hero worship.

You also say that you think there was abuse on both sides and probably more on Depp's because of his drinking / trashing of rooms, and that we should 'just ask Winona Ryder' etc. But Winona Ryder has never accused Johnny Depp of any wrongdoing or abuse. Isn't she in a better position to speculate on what he 'probably' did to AH than you are?

Statements on Their Relationship

  • No violence: Ryder stated that Depp was never violent or abusive toward her during their four-year relationship in the early 1990s.
  • Good character: She described him as a good, loving, and caring man who was very protective of the people he loved.
Winona Ryder commented directly on the allegations made by Amber Heard. She submitted an official written witness statement defending Johnny Depp during his 2020 UK libel trial against The Sun, which centered on Heard's abuse claims. src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/Gk71lNHwd2c" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen> 1, 2, 3]

Key Details of Her Witness Statement

  • Shock and Disbelief: Ryder explicitly stated she was "shocked, confused and upset" when she heard the domestic violence accusations against Depp. 1, 2]
  • Impossible to Believe: She remarked that based on her personal relationship with him, she found the horrific allegations "impossible to believe"

We all have our own opinions. And those of us whose opinions don't match yours aren't necessarily all a load of stupid women driven by a desire to shag someone.

@VictoriousPunge Winona has said on record: “I remember my first boyfriend used to smash everything—at eighteen, everything is dramatic.”

Who was her first boyfriend at 18? (Depp) (She dated him from 17-21 years old).

But as long as he didn’t smash her personally right?

So because Winona said he smashed things at 18, your view JD is likely to have abused AH even though Winona wrote a statement saying she didn't believe him capable of it.

Whatever. We're not going to agree and that's fine.

Just don't assume that disagreeing with you makes me a stupid woman whose opinions must be attributed to me wanting to 'fuck' Johnny Depp.

By the way I don't think it's OK to smash up a hotel room. I just believe Amber Heard was lying about the physical abuse.

  • NONE of Brad Pitt's many previous girlfriends, fiancees, or wives have ever said that he was abusive to them. His current girlfriend, who he's been with for some time now, doesn't seem to have any complaints either.

I couldn’t give a shit about Brad and AJ but this absolutely does not mean a man isn’t and won’t be abusive to a particular woman. My ex beat me black and blue and served 4 years in prison for it. The defence brought in witness statements from previous ex’s to try to prove good character but that didn’t matter. It didn’t mean he didn’t abuse me.

It’s also a pretty dangerous narrative to push because it will make women who are currently being abused question if that is really what’s happening to them, or if they deserve it if their partner has no history of abuse. Abusive behaviour starts somewhere.

What you say is right. This is straight out of the abusers' playbook, because these men's methods don't vary all that much. One very common phenomenon, and it dates far back in history, is that one child is singled out for abuse from many. The others, if asked, would doubtless tell you theirs were loving parents who hadn't harmed a hair on their head in their lives. This might well be true. It still doens't mean they didn't abuse the other child. I can call to mind some more recent cases, too.

My father didn't physically abuse my mother. He physically abused his first wife, by her own account, and he physically abused me. When I was fifteen he slammed my head down a door, causing concussion.

Not every abusive man abuses every single woman in their orbit. They pick particular ones off and are selective. It's a known behavioural pattern.

Which is why bringing out other exes and children to attest to an abuser's 'good' character is discrimination against the victims. It's also happened to me, in a case of sexual harassment in the workplace - the perpetrator's union rep's response being to try to assassinate my character whilst others testified to what an exemplary colleague he was. I've still not forgiven the colleagues who were party to that. I can look past many things, but not this.

I'm so sorry you went through that.

*I'm not denying that Brad lost his temper on that plane. Children can push you to breaking point, and there are six of them, plus AJ refused to ever correct them or discipline them..

I do not think that losing his temper like that was OK. Of course it wasn't. But it seems to have been a one-off..

If AJ was a good person and a good parent, she'd be facilitating their relationship with their dad….

Anyone with an ounce of common sense can weigh all this up and see that it's more than likely that AJ, the complete weirdo, is behind all this, not Brad, who's never had problems with anyone but her*

You are coming down so heavily on the side of ‘Brad’ here, that’s it’s hard to think of you as a supporter of abused women. If this kind of incident happened to my daughter, even once, I would be wanting her to leave the abusive man. Physical aggression is not okay. He is in a highly privileged position travelling on a private jet. There are many people with lots of kids, some with special needs, in far more difficult and stressful situations who do not get physically aggressive like this and terrify their family. There is no excuse. It being a ‘one-off is one time too many.

I do not follow celebrities and certainly not with the intensity that you do, so I admit I do not know half the detail that you seem to. But you seem to have a very deep knowledge of the family dynamics and are very sure of the facts. How?
