Terror attack on Berlin Pride

HermioneWeasley · 26/07/2026 09:17

police are looking for a suspect with Islamist links.

yesterday I saw that islamic bookshops run by the Muslim brotherhood (who are banned in Egypt and I think the UAE) are bringing “workers” over on skilled worker visas. The UAE has stopped government scholarships to British universities because they are worried about their young people being radicalised here!

islamic terrorism is a problem. 75% of Mi5’s watch list are Muslim.

how do we remain a safe and tolerant place for the many peaceful Muslims while still retaining our values and safety?

when I did my Prevent Training; the emphasis was on examples of far right extremism carried out by white teenage boys/men.
Missing the point and ignoring the overwhelming statistics somewhat.

I believe they collect dodgy literature and talk to each other. Very occasionally, one might buy some weapons via the dark web. Words are actual violence though in our Brave New World, so perhaps people have really suffered because of it, in some alternative quantum universe.

A few years ago this would have been a trending thread. Everyone is so habituated to these attacks now that one fatality barely registers.

Or maybe an attack with a single death in another country just isn't enough to cause mass panic, however much agitators might wish it would.

We've caused more than enough damage to our society trying to make everyone scared of the nasty Muslims over the last 25 years and maybe it's not bad thing if people are getting fed up of it.

They are keen to promote the 'mental illness' narrative.

yes. The Southport killer is now in Broadmoor.

I know. Why can't people just hurry up and accept it? It's going at a snail's pace. Still, incremental progress is being made and I'm sure they'll get there in the end.

When I said far right, I was thinking of the group Pegida, which was very active when I was living in Germany. A quick Google tells me they disbanded. I did wonder why AfD had become so popular, many will have migrated there.
I don't believe anti immigration or anti Muslim rhetoric is going to help ease relationships at all. A ball was dropped and the German government need to address that.

I will assume that you haven't read how science works

As far as I’m aware
for example ( as you mentioned it )
the children of kindertransport were supported when they got here.
Amongst other things they were not subjected to a life, prenatal and beyond of constant trauma with no way out and no support

Your example whilst relevant in the short term is not in the long term
It’s really not like we haven’t known this for a very long time

I do wonder at all the misunderstandings and denials though
Is it just so
people can blame one group ?
because it’s easy to blame ?
because people don’t want to deal with ‘there may be reasons’
people don’t like to think the world and we do enough ?
Its just so simple to point the finger and walk away ?
It plays to our own personal goals?
We are in denial that we don’t care ?

( we as in mankind )

Oh FFS.

For a start, you do realise 'science says' is not an absolute? Science is theoretical and if there is enough empirical evidence, we can assume that the theory is now more likely to be proven but people can still and do, argue against it.

And you're vaguely because you don't really know what you're talking about, claiming absolute science when we're talking about sociology and psychology which has numerous variables that need to be taken into account.

You're also talking vague, reductive virtue signalling bollocks about 'blaming one group' as if it's racist. Islamists are causing Islamist terrorism and they claim it and are proud of it. What you're doing is akin to saying 'you can't blame one group for the actions of the IRA'. Yes you fucking can because it was the IRA. It wasn't all Catholics because not all Catholics were in the IRA and many didn't support them but it was all of the IRA as a group and their supporters.

Same as it's not all Muslims responsible but it is all Islamists and their supporters.

I'd like to give you grace as just a bit thick but it's virtue narcissism like your own that is suicidal for non-Islamist communities. And fucking up the country doesn't just effect you.

Why are decades of politicians allowing and even facilitating it though?

It is REALLY odd isn't it. We have as a country consistently voted for secure borders yet we have the exact opposite

Europe is the same - they did not want to have to deal with this massive influx of migrants yet politicians across the continent seem blind to the protests on this

And why are the migrants coming? Certainly not for safety concerns in their home nations as they are bringing huge violent incidents to our streets

Yet the focus is on the "far right" who threw a street party effectively as their mass protest

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 26/07/2026 15:09

Because they refuse to name the problem

They need to up their game and restrict dialogue on social media. That's where the rot starts. I believe our country is addressing the problem.

I mean, there are a lot of landlords raking in it as property prices and rents climb ever higher as we cram more people into all of these countries. A lot of a landlords are in governments too. The safety of and right to preserve culture of the average person means nothing to them.

Gotta be a lot of money involved. My guess from wealthy Arab countries.

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 26/07/2026 15:15

@Maomeeof course! It's the residential landlords' association killing people ! Nothing to do with Islam.

Fgds · 26/07/2026 15:17

I remember 2015-2017 so many of these attacks in the EU. Germany and France especially. So many.

Had there been no Brexit he could have freely entered the UK as well.

smallglassbottle · 26/07/2026 15:17

Governments are often a shit show in other aspects of societal management, yet some things manage to work like clockwork when it's in their interests.

Do you think the governments let them in to wind up the population for a laugh? Or course it's all about money. It's always about money.

DontSayItsOver · 26/07/2026 15:19

You cannot reason a person out of a position he did not reason himself into in the first place.

There’s no cure for religious fundamentalism. There isn't a single logical argument that’s more convincing than the fear of god. There’s no question you can put on a visa form that can tell you whether someone will raise their kids with tolerance and open mindedness rather than fanaticism.

All we can do is adequately fund our intelligence services, and hope the next Abdul Ballout finds a network of friends who can help him make his own mind up about life and steer clear of predatory groups like IS.

Minasama · 26/07/2026 15:25

My view is that governments’ primary responsibility is to keep their populations safe.

Ours (Western Europe’s) have failed us abjectly in this.

Immigration from Muslim countries should stop except in cases of clear need on our side and clean record on theirs. The strongest sentencing should be used where crimes are committed.

Asylum seekers etc - just not our problem. We can’t solve it anyway - the numbers make this impossible. We need to focus on keeping our own girls and women, and other populations safe.

We can’t really do anything about it it as it’s not compatible with a liberal society but the growth of the Muslim population vs ours is a bit of a concern potentially, given how disillusioned second generation often seem to be.

Freddiefisher · 26/07/2026 15:26

Terrorist attacks have been happening for a long time
Just stepping outside your front door and trying to have a life ,brings with it a risk.
The twin towers put me of flying ever since ..
It's not normal to want to deliberately hurt and kill people.
.I suspect most terrorists are significantly mentally ill.
I think it must be really difficult for the Muslims who just want to get on with their lives .
I remember all the IRA attacks..and I felt so guilty being Catholic,I actually stopped going to church.
I felt so embarrassed to admit I was Catholic and guilty..even though it was nothing to do with me .
Obviously I feel huge sympathy for any families caught up in any terrorist attacks.
I wonder how many terrorist attacks are stopped, without us even knowing the risk we were in at the time ..I bet a fair few

The common theme is a religion, not income sources, generating all the violence and mass casualties that we are witnessing

Given the amount of benefits being paid to sustain the migrants I rather think the landlord theory doesn't really hold water

Bringemout · 26/07/2026 15:30

DrPrunesqualer · 26/07/2026 11:13

Instability and war around the world leading to illegal immigration is the area to be focussed on
Pre natal malnutrition and trauma leads to long-term behavioural changes, ( it’s an scientific fact ) including a higher risk of aggression and emotional regulation issues in adulthood.

We can’t solve all the world problems but we need to recognise the issues beyond
’some communities are just bad’…
it just isn’t as simple as that.

When we look at what Israel is doing in Gaza they are creating a future generation of traumatised and potentially dangerous individuals. We, the U.K., and most countries around the world are not standing up to that.

Our modus operandi will be to blame the very people we are abandoning
and then we will wonder, again, why they are being aggressive into the future again and again

Weird that we don’t expect Israelis to be equally traumatised by 7th October snd then all start committing terrorist attacks against non israelis. Given what the USA did in Hiroshima I’m surprised they haven’t suffered from persistent terror attacks from Japanese people.. and so on…

No the landlords are the people who want them here. The more people in the country, and indeed the more that have a constant flow of state support for life because they can't work and probably never will, the higher the rents and the higher the price rod property in general. These are the people running the country. The penny should be dropping for everyone at this point. Unfortunately the average Brit is too knackered working every hour under the sun to meet their ever increasing rent/mortgage/bills to sustain their ever reducing quality of life to do anything about it.

Bringemout · 26/07/2026 15:37

The reality is there are plenty of perfectly normal muslim people who also don’t particularly appreciate the extremists in their midst. The kind of men who harrangue women etc etc. the problem is you have no idea if someone is going to be normal or unhinged. There are interesting stats around terrorists and domestic violence for example.

We just need zero tolerance on these types, ban the muslim brotherhood, don’t let hate preachers in, deport anyone expressing extremist views. We just have to be really cutthroat and up front about our values and tell people they aren’t welcome if they can’t be ok with them. There are plenty of muslims and Christians for example who may believe homosexuality is a sin yet would never treat someone badly because they are gay, I don’t agree with them but I think it’s a civil right to have your beliefs, we must draw the line for example at preaching which spreads hate against gay people. We have to slap down people who behave in a way which is contrary to decent values immediately and publicly. We tolerate the intolerant too much.
