Terror attack on Berlin Pride

HermioneWeasley · 26/07/2026 09:17

police are looking for a suspect with Islamist links.

yesterday I saw that islamic bookshops run by the Muslim brotherhood (who are banned in Egypt and I think the UAE) are bringing “workers” over on skilled worker visas. The UAE has stopped government scholarships to British universities because they are worried about their young people being radicalised here!

islamic terrorism is a problem. 75% of Mi5’s watch list are Muslim.

how do we remain a safe and tolerant place for the many peaceful Muslims while still retaining our values and safety?

Why yes, constantly. Every time there's an attack. It's most peculiar, but it must be true otherwise why would they tell us this? The government always has our best interests at heart and are only trying to keep us safe.

Do you think only the mentally ill have a problem with terrorists
Do your friends and family
I’m not mentally ill and it worries me , although I am only one person

So Here’s a Google on that

No, newspapers, news reports and Governments do not always claim that only people with mental illness worry about terrorism; they often discuss terrorism as a widespread social, political, and public safety issue that affects the general population. 1]
What the News Actually Reports

  • Public Anxiety: Media outlets frequently cover polling data showing that everyday citizens experience fear or anxiety about national security and world events.
  • Political Context: Reports usually frame terrorism as a political, ideological, or geopolitical conflict rather than a psychiatric condition.
  • Expert Analysis: News stories typically rely on insights from security experts, sociologists, and government officials rather than just mental health professionals.

Why Media Focuses on Fear

  • Attention-Grabbing: Dramatic headlines about threats draw more readers and viewers.
  • Policy Debates: Coverage often centers on government responses, laws, and border security rather than individual psychology.

I feel they could expand a bit further on the 'political context' part, but of course they won't.

smallglassbottle · 26/07/2026 14:01

They are keen to promote the 'mental illness' narrative.

Damnthatmouse · 26/07/2026 14:02

That will play into far right's hands

I mean, we can't blame far right at this particular topic for whipping up anger about it too much. Non far right are frustrated. Something like three quarters of people involved in terorrist attacks were apparently known to authorities already.
I think it's reasonable to get angry that system is not working and authorities are failing to protect people. And I am no fan of Tommy R before anyone starts.

Damnthatmouse · 26/07/2026 13:42

They may not be too wrong!
Extremist Islamism and far right fascism do share some beliefs/values/behaviours that one could argue islamic terrorist could indeed be actually a fascist. 🤔

Except that the Islamists are allied with the leftists - Islamo leftism - see the UK Green Party:

Trojan horse-ing is also how the Islamist nutbags (sorry, unfortunate children of malnourished mothers) seized power in Iran. The odious Zach ought to stop boob-whispering and read his history books, there can’t be many sane people who think that Iran looks like a great place to live post-1979.

There’s no stats from WW1 @EvagoraY so absolutely no way of knowing the effects of the wider impact
( individual cases do not build up a true picture )

there is from WW2

We do know that no WW1 or WW2 veterans were emigrating legally or illegally to other countries and committing terrorist attacks against the very countries that gave them support.

Nor their DC.

I must've missed all the Jewish DC who came to England on the kindertransport who attacked England. You couldn't get more traumatised than all those DC being forced to another country with different language, culture, religion and who commonly found out after the 2nd WW ended that most if not all of their family members were dead. What did they do? Thanked England and worked and paid back and some went to Israel.

And the English evacuees? Tiny DC who left their families and went to live with strangers. Some had wonderful experiences despite the trauma and some were exploited and abused. Some had their families killed in action or by bombing in the UK.

Did they go to Germany and commit terrorist attacks because Hitler traumatised them?

No.

Pathetic pivot to blame Israel for worldwide Islamic terrorism. Wow! So subtle!

It is extraordinary how this keeps happening - Israel is attacked and somehow that is their fault and they "deserved it" is the sick narrative

Staggering

And I think of the traumas of survivers of terror attacks and we never expect them to start killing sprees. Why do Islamic followers get this free pass & pity?

I'm thinking about the first world war - in the UK, 40% of the men who initially tried to join up were rejected for military service due to medical and physical unfitness linked to poverty and poor nutrition.
I must have missed the historical details of all the mass terrorist attacks against civilians in the Edwardian era.

GentleSheep · 26/07/2026 13:21

Because Islamic extremism transcends the country you are born in or are a citizen of.

Someone told me that you are born muslim

Huh? I'm born Christian and am a practising Christian.

Absolutely ridiculous @mnhq

I will assume that you haven't read how science works

As far as I’m aware
for example ( as you mentioned it )
the children of kindertransport were supported when they got here.
Amongst other things they were not subjected to a life, prenatal and beyond of constant trauma with no way out and no support

Your example whilst relevant in the short term is not in the long term
It’s really not like we haven’t known this for a very long time

I do wonder at all the misunderstandings and denials though
Is it just so
people can blame one group ?
because it’s easy to blame ?
because people don’t want to deal with ‘there may be reasons’
people don’t like to think the world and we do enough ?
Its just so simple to point the finger and walk away ?
It plays to our own personal goals?
We are in denial that we don’t care ?

( we as in mankind )

amber763 · 26/07/2026 14:41

Do you think the root cause might be.... Islam?

MellowZebra · 26/07/2026 14:42

Defoncforthis · 26/07/2026 12:36

When it happens in the UK will you still take this stance?

Islamist terrorist attacks have happened in the UK. So yes.

I'm sick to death of hearing about the "far right". Who has been killed in the UK by the far right? How many worldwide terrorism events are down to the far right versus Islam? It's a flying monkey attempt to distract us to the threat we have had forced upon us by decades of politicians. Islam is the problem. It's not racist to state fact.

Ethelspagetti · 26/07/2026 14:49

HermioneWeasley · 26/07/2026 11:34

This isn’t traumatised individuals randomly attacking people- the attacks are targeted and mostly the victims are girls and gays and Jews.

Ariana grande attack
attempted attack at taylor swift concert in vienna
3 gay men killed (reading?)
Manchester synagogue attack
Golders Green - ambulances and stabbings

now Berlin pride.

we have to be able to talk about this pattern in a balanced way.

Agreed. It’s needs highlighting.

smallglassbottle · 26/07/2026 14:51

Why are decades of politicians allowing and even facilitating it though?

Damnthatmouse · 26/07/2026 14:51

They're fuming about science, fuming about technology fuming about education

Some absolutely do and it's absolutely ridiculous considering that lots of it came from or is continous development of science from Islamic Golden age!
(saw excellent exhibition on it in ME. Really interesting!)

Apparently it's far right to believe the UK has a culture. Sorry about the empiricism and antibiotics, guys, our bad...

when I did my Prevent Training; the emphasis was on examples of far right extremism carried out by white teenage boys/men.
Missing the point and ignoring the overwhelming statistics somewhat.
