Terror attack on Berlin Pride

HermioneWeasley · 26/07/2026 09:17

police are looking for a suspect with Islamist links.

yesterday I saw that islamic bookshops run by the Muslim brotherhood (who are banned in Egypt and I think the UAE) are bringing “workers” over on skilled worker visas. The UAE has stopped government scholarships to British universities because they are worried about their young people being radicalised here!

islamic terrorism is a problem. 75% of Mi5’s watch list are Muslim.

how do we remain a safe and tolerant place for the many peaceful Muslims while still retaining our values and safety?

Or maybe an attack with a single death in another country just isn't enough to cause mass panic, however much agitators might wish it would.

We've caused more than enough damage to our society trying to make everyone scared of the nasty Muslims over the last 25 years and maybe it's not bad thing if people are getting fed up of it.

Yes it's totally the nasty agitators over the last 25 years, and not the 52 people dead in London in 2007, or the 22 dead in Manchester in 2017, or the 86 people dead in Nice, or the 90 dead in the Bataclan, or Charlie Hebdo. Definitely not that at all.

Damnthatmouse · 26/07/2026 15:45

I still don't understand why isn't Muslim Brotherhood proscribed in UK...

I will assume that you haven't read how science works

As far as I’m aware
for example ( as you mentioned it )
the children of kindertransport were supported when they got here.
Amongst other things they were not subjected to a life, prenatal and beyond of constant trauma with no way out and no support

Your example whilst relevant in the short term is not in the long term
It’s really not like we haven’t known this for a very long time

I do wonder at all the misunderstandings and denials though
Is it just so
people can blame one group ?
because it’s easy to blame ?
because people don’t want to deal with ‘there may be reasons’
people don’t like to think the world and we do enough ?
Its just so simple to point the finger and walk away ?
It plays to our own personal goals?
We are in denial that we don’t care ?

( we as in mankind )

No I think it’s because there are countless examples of human tragedy due to war in the world and only Islamically motivated terrorism is supposed to be empathised with.

No the landlords are the people who want them here. The more people in the country, and indeed the more that have a constant flow of state support for life because they can't work and probably never will, the higher the rents and the higher the price rod property in general. These are the people running the country. The penny should be dropping for everyone at this point. Unfortunately the average Brit is too knackered working every hour under the sun to meet their ever increasing rent/mortgage/bills to sustain their ever reducing quality of life to do anything about it.

Categorically untrue.

Sincerely,
A Landlord

Haven't there been a few attacks like that (car ramming a festival) in Germany in recent years? I think there was one at a Christmas market...?
It's so sad.

UprightCitizensBrigade · 26/07/2026 16:13

SpaceRaccoon · 26/07/2026 13:05

So what's your excuse for the Manchester bomber, given that he was born in the UK?

Yes the Manchester bomber and his brother, both born in UK. As were 3/4 of the tube bombers in 2005 , born and bred in Yorkshire.
This pre-natal vitamin deficiency argument for Islamist terrorists doesn't add up ?

That and stabbings, in France too. It's pretty frequent but if there's only one or two people killed, it doesn't tend to hit many headlines.
Also seems to be a kind of grey area now between organised Islamic terrorism and lone wolf stuff, and a lot of the loan wolf stuff (and sex attacks) are driven by recent asylum claiments, including in the UK.

This kind of story, as an example:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c70k6x1x67ro

Police vans parked in the park on Wednesday, next to red and white cordon tape

German park stabbing: Toddler and man killed, Afghan man held

Police say a 28-year-old man from Afghanistan has been arrested suspected of carrying out the attack.

VocodersAreShite · 26/07/2026 16:15

Yes, Xmas market, that was also Berlin, which is why IloveGermany was surprised, as am I, that there weren't barriers to prevent it but I've never done Berlin Pride so don't know the set up there. Merkel got a lot of flak for her foreign policy.
But I genuinely don't know the answer to how to prevent radicalisation, which is what you are looking at in this case.

Fgds · 26/07/2026 16:19

There's still a big crowd on MN who say that they are all welcome and we shouldn't discriminate.

Bringemout · 26/07/2026 16:25

Not sure what the gays did to this nutter to make him specifically hate them due to his inter generational trauma, wonder what they did to trigger his epigenetic propensity to mow humanbeings down in the street. Maybe it was the great gay battle of 1976 in beirut when they gays mounted an assault in the hetros…..Oh wait yup the gays haven’t done shit to him, he’s just a bog standard islamic extremist.

Christ the lengths people go to, having a genetic propensity towards violence is not an excuse or license to violence. The problem with genetic explanations is the deterministic element, if we tell people that people from war torn countries that have experienced trauma are more likely to launch terror attacks what do you think people are going to think about taking in refugees?

What a lot of the virtue narcissist hand-wringers don't seem to realise is expecting Islamists to accept let alone approve of homesexuality is akin to asking an English person with English heritage to accept or approve of something like FGM.

We think FGM is a disgusting and an abusive cultural practice which causes widespread societal as well as physical and mental health problems.

They think homesexuality is a disgusting practice accepted only by perverted Westernised cultures which is causing not only the breakdown of society but physical and mental health issues.

Both sides think the other are deeply, fundamentally wrong and make those cultures deeply, fundamentally wrong.

And the Islamists have Religious scripture and doctrine on their sides in support of the condemnation of homesexuality.

Expecting an Islamist to come round to the idea is the same as me moving to Afghanistan and being horrified and disgusted by FGM. And I would pass on that horror and disgust to my children because it's wrong. I wouldn't suddenly be on board with it.

And the Islamists wherever they live and for however many generations will see homesexuality as wrong.

Difference is, I and my children wouldn't commit an act of terrorism in Afghanistan or elsewhere to protest against FGM. Because I don't have a religion or culture that supports or even expects it.

They do.

hahabahbag · 26/07/2026 16:49

The suspect was born in Germany. The radicalisation was in a western country not as a result of war, trauma etc. I don’t have answers but parents should be taking responsibility for their upbringing at least

Parsley4321 · 26/07/2026 16:54

Being a martyr is the best outcome for these freaks is it not ? So when they die for their beliefs that’s great 99 virgins or whatever. I am sick of seeing covered women in the streets eyes just seen behind glasses sick of seeing girls as young as 2 in hijabs it’s not right we are England and anyone who comes here needs to be westernised leave your bullshit medieval beliefs away from here. There is a reason why none of these Muslim countries will open their borders and the UAE is telling students not to come here we are a soft touch and we need to man the fuck up

MaturingCheeseball · 26/07/2026 16:59

Absolutely. Similarly the attitudes of traditional Muslims to women. They do not work, they keep house and bear multiple children. Obviously previous generations here might have done similar, but economically it was hard (no benefits) and in time there was movement towards smaller families and equality for women.

Certain communities here do not embrace the Western way of life - they completely reject it. It beggars belief how people are desperate to excuse intolerance, subjugation of women, polygamy, cousin and even child marriage.

MaturingCheeseball · 26/07/2026 17:04

I think it’s time for the authorities to do something about covering children. A girl in DD’s class (yr 5) started wearing not just headscarf but long robe and face covering. No PE or other active pursuits. Everyone nods along as if it is quite acceptable. It really is not in this country.

Who is paying for and facilitating this lifestyle? People born here can't afford housing or to have children due to nursery costs. How are men affording to have a wife who doesn't work and who has children. Benefits is it? Yet home grown disabled people are criticised for not being able to work. How does the strata they live in, work?

You know what is really mad as well? It's way beyond what's expected even in quite strict Muslim countries. I've lived in Qatar which is very devout, culturally much the same as Saudi, and no-one covers up little girls. They start weaing the abaya loosely at puberty, and then a headscarf maybe a year or two later.
Covering tiny girls is just an unpleasant cultural practice, yet well-meaning Westerners will earnestly claim it's totally fine.

Yup I soent a lot of time in the middle east and little girls were often in mini skirts, it was only expats from developing asian and African countries predominantly sticking small girls in hijabs, gulf arabs generally didn’t do that at all.

TonTonMacoute · 26/07/2026 17:12

You have to be a whole new level of deluded when you have the leaders of several Muslim nations (UAE, SA and Egypt) all warning us of the dangers of Islamism, telling our government who are the danger groups, ie those they have banned in their own country like the Muslim Brotherhood, and still refuse to face up to the fact.

The more this problem is downplayed by our governments, the more likely that people will turn to parties that are willing to tackle it. This is happening across Europe and in Australia too

The tolerance of this is actually racism. They feel so uncomfortable and aware of their racism that they don't treat people as equals. Someone who does believe in equality will treat others equally and expect others to act accordingly. The self flagellating racists give preferential treatment to certain groups to assuage their guilty feelings. They're actually guilty of the very thing they accuse others of.

Okay so the backstory to this attacker is frankly insane.
He was a criminal who took himself off to Lebanon, and instead of just breathing a sigh of relief and leaving him there, German authorities actually brought him back to face his punishment - some how-not-to-be-an-Islamic-extremist-nutjob course that clearly didn't land as intended.
And now someone is dead, and others have life-changing injuries. And he'll probably get 5 years this time, maybe, or just be declared mad and set loose as per.
