I'm going to Wetherspoons later to meet an old friend, we will be eating there, but I can't decide what to have.
What do you recommend?

I love the sticky Korean chicken bowl with coconut rice.

All day breakfast. My go to at spoons

This or the 3 small plates.

ETA….. or the fish and chips!

FionnulaTheCooler · 08/07/2026 18:28

I usually have the chicken wrap with chips. I went rogue the last time and got a jacket potato but it was disappointing, obviously microwaved rather than oven cooked so it was soggy skin and not crispy. I'm not a food snob but I am a baked potato snob and they should always be crispy.

helpfulperson · 08/07/2026 18:30

I love the scampi and chips.

redsquirrel07 · 08/07/2026 18:30

I used to work in a Wetherspoons, I'd recommend the burgers, fish and chips, paninis, pizzas, all day brunch

Curry, lasagne etc is just a microwave job, if you dont mind that then they're decent

I know lots of people turn their nose up at wetherspoons but its cheap and cheerful and not as bad as people like to pretend. And the service is quick!!

It's like Greggs, not amazing food but good value for what you pay.

I am here to tick the MN cliché box of saying I recommend going somewhere else.

I am a food snob and not ashamed to admit it. 🤣

also not ashamed to be unable to comprehend the OP’s question, clearly.

Cant mess up a jacket potato

I recently tried their Mexican gourmet jacket potato & it was really dry & tasteless

I love their fish, chips & mushy peas though

Mimilamore · 08/07/2026 18:35

Scampi and chips and a large glass of Villa Maria!

PreachyPie · 08/07/2026 18:45

I've ordered fish and chips.....I saw it being served to a nearby table and changed my mind from the ramen bowl🤣

Pizza is nice and the chicken in a basket

UnderThePressure · 08/07/2026 18:47

I like the ramen bowl with chicken, it's really tasty and filling.

Boreded · 08/07/2026 18:48

I feel like we should all have answered like it was CAH

OriginalUsername2 · 08/07/2026 18:48

The curry, rice and naan bread for me.

Good choice!! I hope you have a lovely time with your friend 😀

purser25 · 08/07/2026 18:59

Fish and chips and the pizzas are good they seem to be individually topped

desperatemum1234 · 08/07/2026 19:08

Veggie curry is excellent, and a really good deal

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 08/07/2026 19:17

Oh for heaven’s sake. Just two snobby and silly answers by the third page? What is happening to MN?

Come on, please, we need some posts about UPF, literal poison, animal welfare, child neglect and early death, all decorated with words like ‘disgusting’, ‘vile’, ‘awful’ and ‘Brexit’.

Standards of finger wagging are slipping badly on here.

Their burgers are pretty decent.

Well it wasn’t clear enough for you obviously.

Hint: She’s looking for help with choosing food from the menu…

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 08/07/2026 19:31

If you like spicy food I’d really recommend the Spice Bag. You can have chips or coconut rice. Then there are 3 southern fried chicken strips chopped up and 5 chicken chunks. This is all covered with salt and chilli spice mix and red onions and sliced red chillis. You can add on curry sauce to for 99p. Absolutely delicious 😋

Bunnyfuller1 · 08/07/2026 19:37

Their cooked breakfasts are good and their sausages beat the pants off some chewy artisan poncey-sausage. I do hate giving the spoons gimp money so usually mutter anti reform/brexit swearing throughout. Love the 10am drunks tho. On their third pint, no food cos eatin’s cheating!

Judellie · 08/07/2026 19:41

All day breakfast's nice. Sometimes I get lasagne so that I can feel virtuous and have salad with it (I detest just about all salad but it's better for me than chips, unfortunately)
