Abnormally high FIT test

I have had bowel and digestive problems on and off for a few years. This weekend I was in a lot of pain and cramping after seeing a GP I had to do a FIT test and a Calprotectin test. Anyway I handled them in yesterday morning and my FIT has come back abnormal my level is 400.

I have to go back to the GP tomorrow and am on 2 week pathway.

I knew something wasn't right, I'm in a bit of a flap so any comforting advice, stories or help would be appreciated.

I'm also spotting a bit as in period type spotting and have a bit of period pain.

Has anyone else had the spotting after colonoscopy. Google isn't giving me much advice but there is a long Reddit thread about it.

I've just googled it and it IS a thing. Actual vaginal bleeding is NOT a thing and should be checked out (per Google)

I've spoke to my GP surgery and they've said it isn't common and to monitor it. They said to wait to discuss at my next appointment. I've just looked on my period tracker (I don't have regular periods due to taking mini pill) for the last 3 months I've had spotting every month. I think it's possibly coincidental.

Yes I had that too, not the spotting but the pain. It should go within a week or so, mine lasted a few days. I posted about this on someone else's colonoscopy thread - I didn't know it could happen and it took about 10 pages of google results to find a hospital that mentioned it!

Thankyou Google AI is telling me it's the Plenvu prep that's caused it by the rapid transit and my bowel being emptied quickly. Even though I took the pill at 22:00 and didn't have diarrhoea straight after until the next morning the transit in the bowel has been affected. Hence the breakthrough bleeding.
To be honest at the moment the period cramps are worse than the spotting. Why don't they explain this to you, I know the colonoscopy is unlikely to cause it but the fact the prep cleans everything out if you take contraception then it will be affected.

I am a little better today thankyou, apart from wind waking me up! I've managed to go to the toilet a little this morning as well! I'm still spotting but the period pains seem to have stopped for now.
I think slowly introducing food is causing me a few issues my stomach is so noisy and windy. I'm still a little tired but I did manage a better sleep last night.

Mine didnt start working until the second dose.

From starting the first dose it was exactly 90 minutes for it to start and it lasted an hour. By the time I needed to start the second lot the next morning I was already going, then it lasted hours before it stopped.

That's interesting, I had Plenvu too. I didn't know beforehand that it might do that. But I mentioned it to a medical person in a different context a few months later and he said "oh yes it can do that" and I thought well why do hospitals not routinely tell you that then? Is it another example of not differentiating for women?

You would think they would advise women that it can mess with your contraceptive pill. It makes sense to me now that even though I didn't have 💩 in the immediate few hours after taking the pill that it's not likely to have been absorbed properly.
Im guessing as well that taking it on the evening of the procedure it's not going to be absorbed properly as you've essentially been cleaned out inside.
The advice from my GP wasn't helpful it seems they thought I was asking if the colonoscopy caused it, when in fact I meant the prep. There's very little information online apart from a very long Reddit thread with hundreds of women all reporting the same problem.

I don’t want to give any false hope, but my friends who had bowel cancer didn’t have it for a few years as it unfortunately seems to claim you quicker than that if left untreated.
I wish you the very best OP and hope you will get proper answers soon, I am basing this on the 4-5 people I know who have had the disease.

I felt unwell the day after, really washed out and tired. I was glad I had booked the day off work because I'd have struggled. I've heard many people say they felt fine after. Unfortunately it took me two days to feel back to my normal self.

The endoscopist didn't really give much away when she told me she'd taken 2 polyps off and they were going to be tested and a biopsy was taken to determine the cause of inflammation I have.

Same here, colonoscopy showed a polyp. Not BC. Fissures can cause raised levels too. They give you a cream to fix it.

I had no sedation - the colonoscopy is surprisingly not as awful as you think. I got a lift home farting for England.

I did not fart until the following day. Afterwards they were telling me to let it out but I had no gas at all - which is not like me.

Im kicking myself for not asking how big the polyps were at the time, I was just so relieved it was over I didn't ask many questions. I asked if the inflammation was diverticulitis but she said that wasn't seen during the procedure and I was to wait to hear from the consultant.

Any update OP?

My hubby had this, turned out to be a polyp which they removed. Yearly checks but all well.

No results yet from the biopsy and the polyps they removed. It's been a month now (I think) since the Colonoscopy.
