I'm sure they are useful for some legitimate reasons, but there's no doubt they're a useful tool for perverts as well.

on the flip side the way people are at times, its partly why cars need dash cameras as when its accidents etc people quick to say not me etc

I just don't like the thought that if I'm, for example, sunbathing, that my images may end up somewhere I don't want them to be. This is why, apart from Mumsnet, I'm not on any social media.

But that can already happen. People are filmed and photographed without their consent constantly.

Yes, but for the most part I can see people with phones, but it's the covert manner in which the glasses are used that bothers me.

There are tons of covert cameras out there already, though. Why the worry about these in particular?

I think it’s absolutely outrageous that they’re allowed. I said so on here a few months ago but was drowned out by assenting voices and wondered whether MN had been taken over by incels again.

Of course. Body cams have existed for years, and there are plenty of covert ones available.

You can get them in car keys, pens, watches, to clip into button holes and all sorts, and they're much cheaper and readily available than Meta glasses.

My Dad is severely sight impaired and these have improved his life. He's not good enough with technology to manage to film or record anything.

Because they've existed in other forms for years now. This is nothing new - it's just the technology has become more mainstream and user friendly.

All posts like this show is that people are a bit oblivious to what is already out there.
