He doesn't realise it, but it's really a convoluted - but impressive - validation of Burnham as PM. Both will have the authority of being elected by their constituency in 2026.

I wonder what the other Reform MPs are thinking ? It would have been interesting to be in the meeting when Farage told them his plans. Especially that schmuck Jenrick who batted so hard for him on Sunday.

If Labour have any sense they won’t stand in Clacton. Don’t play his games.

Oh I disagree. The candidate won't lose their deposit. Three way vote between besties Reform, Restore and Conservative.

Notonthestairs · 07/07/2026 14:42

Nobody should stand against him.

Leave it as the performative nonsense it is.

It might work out better if Labour campaigned for Reform and Keir Starmer personally took to the trail 😎

BIossomtoes · 07/07/2026 14:47

I bet Rupert Lowe’s delighted - the East coast is prime Restore territory.

Persephonia1966 · 07/07/2026 14:49

Its more likely an excuse to squeeze some more money out of the big donors. Running a by-election is expensive, please give me the funds blah blah blah. And then anything over the spending limit is trousered

PickAChew · 07/07/2026 14:51

This is all about controlling the narrative.

I had someone in my life who was quite the drama llama. When someone went in for some very invasive surgery, they developed their own "severe pain" in the same place and did everything they could to garner sympathy, right in front of the person who had the surgery.

I suspect that the rumours might have been true that Farage was considering resigning that week after Makerfield but then Starmer resigned and the media became too distracted for him to make any ripples, at the time. The problem was, they weren't sufficiently distracted from where he's been getting his money from.

So, here we are: the government is having open heart surgery so Farage want us to take pity on his dicky ticker.

Sorry, only just seen this. Under a sea of marking. Labour didn't stand against David Davies when he did similar.

I agree that Restore could take this. Shudder.

Piggywaspushed · 07/07/2026 14:54

And how dare he say he is the most attacked MP against the hate that Black MPs receive and against the backdrop of two murdered MPs?

There is still time.

E2A: Who remembers how House of Cards (UK) ended in S3 ?

Piggywaspushed · 07/07/2026 14:58

I do!

Notonthestairs · 07/07/2026 15:01

he’s really fucking scared of that investigation.

Shudder, yes. But worth it to be rid of Farage?

he’s really fucking scared of that investigation.

It’ll still be waiting for him if he wins. He can’t escape it.

Efacsen · 07/07/2026 15:11

Farage claims ''I've done nothing wrong'' !!!!!!!!

So instead of turning up at the forthcoming Standards Committee and calmly explaining his innocence - he throws this mega Trumpian tantrum to avoid attending the committee

Not really the action of someone who's done nothing wrong

According to the Joseph Rowntree foundation a family of two adults, two children needs a minimum combined income of £74k for a socially acceptable standard of living

Why not reduce what is a socially acceptable standard of living instead ?

I'm sure that would indeed be Bedenoch's preference. Poor people don't need roses. Just enough bread to keep grafting.

I am very torn on that one.

SerendipityJane · 07/07/2026 15:18

Maybe Farage will avoid campaigning by claiming the streets are safe for a man with the truth.

We'll have guerrilla style hit'n'post tiktoks. He could become a bit like Banksy for cunts.

cardibach · 07/07/2026 15:19

Same @Piggywaspushed
@SerendipityJane i really miss the laugh reaction.

dontcallmelen · 07/07/2026 15:20

I know I’m being a bit hard of thinking but what does it achieve if he stands & gets re-elected surely he will still have to be investigated it all appears performative nonsense & distraction & he can claim to be the victim.

dontcallmelen · 07/07/2026 15:21

You underestimate yourself. You’re spot on.

TemperanceWest · 07/07/2026 15:23

The next few weeks are going to be fun. Farage front and centre fanning the flames of hate, backed up by an army of SM bots, probably paid for by posh George.

Piggywaspushed · 07/07/2026 15:24

I am enjoying the But Burnhamming contortions on the Farage thread.

What Burnham did = very Bad for Democracy.
What Farage has done- Totally Above Board. Poor little Nige.
