It’ll still be waiting for him if he wins. He can’t escape it.

The point is to give him a mandate ahead of the investigation.

He must know he’ll have to allow due process eventually but he’ll do it in 6 months time.

And then after the investigation concludes he’ll argue that the recall petition and by election are unnecessary because the voters have spoken 2/3 months ago.

He’s hoping to spin it out long enough that the media will discover Burnham hasn’t paid his tv licence etc.

It’s a delaying tactic in the hope something else will turn up. He might be right.

Which is why nobody should stand against him. Invalidate it now.

I know I’m being a bit hard of thinking but what does it achieve if he stands & gets re-elected surely he will still have to be investigated it all appears performative nonsense & distraction & he can claim to be the victim.

He wants his supporters to think the establishment are trying to silence him to ramp up the paranoia of his tin hatted followers. If he gets re elected then he will have beaten The Man, and shown that 'truth can't be silenced' and he is tireless in his commitment to overturn the system. Or something.

Any way who cares for the Reform MPs and supporters who have no idea what's going on? Are their investments safe? Will they have to pay more for Farage's security?

SerendipityJane · 07/07/2026 15:28

Surely I am not the first to wonder what campaigning during the silly season says about Farages opinion of his base ?

Has anyone had that thought for them ?

Are you suggesting @SerendipityJane that Farage has no soul, no empathy and no fucks to give?

Weeps into Aldi balsam hankies and glad to afford the upgrade because proper job.

I thought I was stating it loud and proud.

Fuck "suggesting. Where has that got anybody.

dontcallmelen · 07/07/2026 15:42

I hope then he stands un-opposed, why aide & help facilitate such a fucking farce it’s disgraceful behaviour.

Piggywaspushed · 07/07/2026 15:43

Oh dear. A local Tory MP has written a puff piece for Palantir on Facebook. He is getting so much pushback! It's delightful.

Beware the highly educated constituency, Richard Fuller.

dontcallmelen · 07/07/2026 15:58

Excellent news piggy

Notonthestairs · 07/07/2026 16:04

We have processes to investigate allegations against MPs.

They get to hear the evidence against them and make their defence.

This is an attack against Parliamentary governance. A stunt to undermine its legitimacy.

It is funny how Brexiteers aren't that keen on Parliamentary sovereignty after all.

TemperanceWest · 07/07/2026 14:16

I can't bear to listen to him.

Neither can I. I stuck to watching Wimbledon. Sounds like it was predictable Farage, ‘I'm being persecuted’.

It would be great if he lost the resulting by-election. (Although that would be a conspiracy too, obviously.)

Notonthestairs · 07/07/2026 16:20

Lowe says Restore won’t stand in this by election but will wait for the second one (after the investigation concludes and if there’s a recall).

Raven08 · 07/07/2026 16:28

So...
It's to try and take the focus off of his rather illegal activities, then?
Sad thing is, it might work 🤷‍♀️

LizzieW1969 · 07/07/2026 16:35

I suppose this is true, despite what I've just said about liking the idea of him losing. It would be better if no other party stood against him at this point.

BestIsWest · 07/07/2026 16:36

I agree. No one should stand.

dontcallmelen · 07/07/2026 16:43

All parties should call his bluff no candidates apart from maybe Count Binface.

Cheguevarahamster · 07/07/2026 16:44

I would love Count Bin face to win.

dontcallmelen · 07/07/2026 16:47

Me too😂

BIossomtoes · 07/07/2026 16:47

So would I. My grin would split my face.

dontcallmelen · 07/07/2026 16:48

His manifesto makes more sense than Reforms.

Wonder is suggesting is not? To ponder 🤔

placemats · 07/07/2026 16:59

Reform has said it will pay for the by-election. Everyone should stand.

Notonthestairs · 07/07/2026 17:06

Big of them.

Of course the actual point is the no party & no MP should be able to duck a Standards Committee investigation.

You shouldn’t be able to buy yourself out of it!

(Or maybe buying a way out of an investigation in to shady £ dealings says it all really. Maybe we are the 51st state already).

BIossomtoes · 07/07/2026 17:08

placemats · 07/07/2026 16:59

Reform has said it will pay for the by-election. Everyone should stand.

I’m pretty sure electoral law prohibits that. He’s showboating.

DuncinToffee · 07/07/2026 17:10

He is lying
