Humour me, I'm counting down the minutes until I can officially log off work for the day (don't worry, I'm SE so I'm not taking the biscuit!)

Let's play Do you remember when...

it can be about anything that pops up in your head!

So mine is -
Do you remember when it was hot and the back of your legs and thighs got stuck on hot plastic car seats (no air conditioning!) and how excruciating it was to peel them off when you had to get up 😳
I'm pretty ancient though so maybe won't get many Yeses!

I remember having a skintight pair of Levi’s. My brother had to help me zip them up, whilst I lay on the floor. He also had to help me up, but boy did I feel good in those jeans!

Yes! I had forgotten that! Lying on the floor to zip them up!

I remembere lying on my bed with my ‘drainpipe’ jeans on and using the hook of a coat-hanger to pull the zip up. This was before lycra was a thing.

Do you remember when you could get through to any form of Customer Service or Box Office on the phone?

And the council offices.

Does anyone remember when Alton Towers used to give out free little tubs of ice cream as you were leaving? Please god let someone remember this, my partner doesn’t believe that this ever happened 😅

I remember most of this. My DF used a cover on the windscreen to keep it a little cooler.

I hated the free milk and used to give it to friends.

I had chocolate buttons once a week along with my comics so I'd be set for the rest of the night. I remember a black and white TV. And come what may unless the snow was impossible we went to school sometimes with my DF and other Dads dragging us there on sledges.

My brother’s scout group did a fun day and goldfish were prizes at that. And that’s the story of how we got four goldfish. 🙈

I got my first fish like that too. It lived 16 years, far longer than any of those we got from the pet shop to be a companion.

Groceries being delivered by a boy on a bike.
Heavy wood and metal level crossing gates, closed by the signalman turning a wheel in the signal box.
Refreshment trollies on main-line platforms which passengers leaned out of the train window to buy from.
Trimphones. And the range of available colours for phones: 'light ivory, two-tone grey, two-tone green, topaz yellow, concord blue, lacquer red and black' - advertised in the green pages at the front of the directory.
Supermarket chains: Alliance Foodstores, Fine Fare, VG, Pricerite, Mace.
The notice fixed to the school gate: 'Remember your kerb drill'.
Local education authority subject advisers.
Motorway services run by Granada and Trust House Forte.
The Ministry of Works and Public Buildings - its name printed on postcards bought at castles etc.

I wonder why we both remember this episode, and was scarred by it.

Because we all played out in the garden/ playground/park/woods/road and were always skinning our knees.
