Ps my manager was saying when she lived in Australia she used to do Christmas in July and they watched Christmas movies and read Christmas kindle books! First of July they started!!!

I used to say this every year as a kid. 25/6 is my birthday so nice and equally spaced 😂

Aaagh I fucking hate Christmas enthusiasts. They get almost 2 months of celebrating every year that they subject everyone to, and still have to go on about it the remaining 10 months of the year.

What really bugged me as a child was breaking up for the school summer holidays and then going into a shop full of 'Back To School' signs.

when I was at uni it was always bizarre that there was christmas stock coming in to the shops before my autumn term( commenced mid to late Sept) had even started!.

I do not count the day on which it is being said, nor Christmas day itself. Until Christmas starts is until midnight on Christmas Eve – unless you are a person who starts Christmas on the first day of Advent, or at Thanksgiving, or whenever else that is not yet actually Christmas, I suppose. But then it still wasn't half way to Christmas on 25th June, it was rather more.

My family and my sisters family had Christmas in June one year when the kids were young as we all decided that 12 months was too long to wait (still had December Christmas as well)
we sent cards and bought gifts, wrapped in Christmas paper and had a turkey dinner and Christmas pudding
they’re all grown up now but still talk about it

I worked in the Head Office of a retail company for a while and I was gobsmacked to learn that the merchandise for the Christmas after the upcoming Christmas, was already chosen and ordered.

I've annoyed the family with this. I love Christmas, but I'm not someone who's waiting for Christmas to arrive, I don't think about it until December. I said it more as "where has this year gone?"

You're right that I got the numbers the wrong way round, but it still isn't halfway.

If you don't count the 25th December and don't count the day on which it was being said, which was 25th June:

30 days November
24 days of December

I make that 182 days until Christmas; and

26 27 28 29 30 31 December =6 days
31 days January
28 days February
31 days March
30 days April
31 days May
24 days of June

is 181 since Christmas

25th June was not a whole day in either direction, whenever during that day the half-way to Christmas thing was said.

(It is 27th June today.)

If you are only counting up to the 24th, you're not there yet. You can't not count it at one end and then not count it at the other end either...

Nah. I got bored and am wandering away to repair a curtain that has come apart along a seam at the top so it hangs very crooked and will shortly start to rip under its own weight.
