He said... "It's the 25th today - half way to Christmas".

AAARRGGHHHHH😂

What's all this the nights are drawing in nonsense, it was light until 10 o'clock last night.

We passed the summer solstice on the 21st June, which was the longest day (and obviously the shortest night as well), so we're going back the other way now. The winter solstice (Yule) is the shortest day, and will be on 21st December.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 25/06/2026 19:23

Patrick Swayze’s character in Point Break had the right idea - always chasing the endless summer, he was obviously a fellow Christmas loather.

Stay away ☠️ 👹. from the Christmas MNet board…all sorts of horrors are discussed! Food, decorations, seating plans, presents…it never ends!

Today is joyous for us weirdos - for it means that Santa is (at a stretch..) on his way, the pudding must be put to boil, kittens and puppies must be dressed up and the crosses are going in the sprouts! 🤣

Nothing weird here at all….

Excuse me, why for are you being so ageist? What about the adult cats and dogs? They dress up for Christmas too you know. And some get excited for their Christmas presents and tearing the wrapping paper to shreds. Christmas 🎁 🎄 🎁

'As far away from Christmas as we can get, you mean dear?'

That’s a great point

Only a few short weeks until the shops have “back to school” and Halloween stuff in the shops, followed smartly by Christmas cards. A charity shop volunteer told me that unless they have Christmas cards for sale in August, they lose sales

I know you do things early in retail, I’m a veteran, but this is ridiculous.

My local Spar had Easter things along side the last few Christmas things being sold off cheap just after New Years day.

Not as extreme, but still crazy to me.

Your DH deserves a smack for that!!! (Joke)

FFSItsTooHot · Yesterday 17:01

Yep. The nights are drawing in already. It's now getting dark at 9.21pm instead of 9.22pm.

PurpleLovecats · 25/06/2026 12:22

Haha I said the same to my DH today! Made me happy, hate summer so love feeling like I’m getting through it.

Couldn’t agree more!

It seems to come as a surprise to people every year that the days get shorter at the end of June. I attribute it to the move from the countryside to towns and cities. Apparently no one notices that the days start lengthening just before Christmas. The hottest days of our year are in the autumn, not the summer, which has only a few weeks left.

The hottest days of the year are in autumn absolute bollocks what rubbish.. yes we all know what happens after 21st June its my mums birthday I hear it often enough.

My late dad’s birthday was 25th June. When I was young I thought he was lucky to only have to wait 6 months for Christmas or his birthday. My birthday is in December … 🤷🏽‍♀️

That's 182 days/4368 hours. If you take one day at a time it seems quite far off especially considering I don't consider it until at least 6 weeks before the day. 😁

Stelladid · Yesterday 19:10

Burn him at the stake (when it cools down).
