It’s going to be a long, old, sweaty, sleepless night isn’t it…

Hands up if you can’t sleep either!! 🙆🏼‍♀️

Seriously though, spend all day exhausted then when I get into bed it’s so bloody hot I literally feel wide awake now.

Contemplated sleeping in my car tonight with the aircon.

This really is no fun is it!! Jealous of anyone who has proper AC installed!

It’s 12.30 and I’m still awake - I’ve had a glass of wine and a beer in the hope it makes me a bit drowsy…. But no! The portable air con is on in my bedroom but frankly, I’m fed up with the noise! But it’s better than boiling so, noise is it! I genuinely hate hot weather - hate it! And no it’s not the same as being on holiday as I don’t have to work and function normally when I’m on holiday! Yes, sorry, I’m hot and irritable - just URGH!

Try really hard to tune into the noise instead if trying to shut it out. 💕

It’s 2026 guys, why the hell haven’t you invested in a air con unit 🤯

Whereabouts do you live?
We don't all need air con units in England.

TickyTacky · 25/06/2026 00:40

I've got the portable aircon going which is helping, but my guilt over the kids room just having a couple of fans is keeping me up. It is cooler over there, and they went to sleep ok as I cooled the room down. I did offer to drag their mattresses in here so we could have a sleepover but they said they were fine. I still feel mean 😕

Too hot, sleeping on the sofa with fan on and dealing with the most horrible restless leg tonight.

I sympathise. My legs are killing me.

Acheyelbows · 25/06/2026 00:53

Too hot and awake with migraine. Damn heat has become a trigger now as well.

My friend only got hers last week. If I decide to get one I'll order it & it'll arrive when it arrives 💁🏻‍♀️. I've been without for 57 years, I can wait.

Yeah. She got it last week. There's a point there. She didn't order it this week.

Look at availability and delivery dates. If you haven't already got one or ordered one you aren't getting one any time soon.

Just bought myself a mini fan to sit by my bed. Makes a huge difference.

Me too
keep it on all night

I got a tip today, absolute game changer. Fill a hot water bottle, freeze it.....take it to bed with a tea towel wrapped around it. Move around body as needed. Bliss....

remember not to use it in future as a hot water bottle as it will be prone to bursting or leaking

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 25/06/2026 01:10

We have plant sprayers which we use to spray our tarantulas (they need moisture and humidity).

I have one next to the bed and I’ve been spraying myself.

Why are you on such a mission tonight to tell people they won't get one?

As I said, IF I decide I want one, I'll order one & it will arrive when it arrives. 💁🏻‍♀️

Game of two halves in my house. Win because DH has taken himself off to another bedroom, so I won't have a hot hairy body twice my size in the bed. On the other hand, the room he's in is the north facing one, and he's shut the door, which fucks up my cross-breeze upstairs cooling strategy.
I think I probably still win that one. Other windows are available, and although they're going to need shutting quite early, I'm bound to be awake to do that anyway.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 25/06/2026 01:22

This will be my third night of little to no sleep.

I live with people who hate a breeze, so every time I open a window to dump some heat out they follow me round and close it.

I've frozen bottles of water to put in front of the fans but they're not lasting 2 minutes, mist spray bottle of water, wet towel, cold shower, wet hair, bellowing the doors, using the fans to suck some air out, and every time it looks like it's cooling someone closes the bloody windows and it creeps back up.

Rest of the house is a nice 25° but my room is 32° and I can't sleep on a sofa because all the other cheeky buggers have bet me to it.

I saw a tip earlier, put some socks in the freezer and put them on just before bed. Apparently if your feet cool down, the rest of you does too! I did wet mine first before putting in the freezer. I'll find out if it works later...To hot to sleep atm.

mummybearSW19 · 25/06/2026 01:34

I joined gym a few weeks ago so after school today I took the kids to the gym where it was nicely air-conditioned we did a fun workout together in the air air-conditioning. Then we had a swim in the outdoor pool and then we ate supper in a beautifully air-conditioned room.
We got home quite late opened all the windows and doors to cool House down and let Breeze go through
They were fast asleep super quick.
I fell asleep leaving all the windows and doors downstairs open luckily have just woken up and come downstairs to shut up

SW london here. Been roasting!

I can promise you that you'll only feel relief for 5 seconds. Ditto with pillowcases, blankets, PJs or any other wearables. Ask me how I know 🫩😓😮‍💨

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 25/06/2026 01:41

Were at legoland, the air conditioning isnt working and the room is boiling, kids are sound asleep but DH and I cant sleep, weve managed to unscrew the window safety catch so to open the window more so we at least have a bit of air coming in. Not lookong forward to tomorrow.

And before anyone says why are you at legoland in a heatwave, it was booked months ago and I have 3 Neurodivergent children who have been counting down and prepping for it so cancelling or postponing wasnt an option as much as I would have liked too.

Lol. I understand, even ice cubes weren't doing much last night.

Tryonemoretime · 25/06/2026 02:02

Still wide awake at 2am. Nice breeze coming through windows but just can't sleep🙄

Tink3rbell30 · 25/06/2026 02:17

Anyone else still wide awake?

Have you tried cold shower for the dog - and plenty of watery meals / fluids

You can also buy cooling bandannas for dogs online or at camping shops.

Christmasbear1 · 25/06/2026 02:41

My dog is really struggling :(

GrumpyButOk · 25/06/2026 02:56

Still wide awake here. Exhausted but it's 30 degrees in the bedroom. Have a fan but dreaming of an air con unit. :/
