It’s going to be a long, old, sweaty, sleepless night isn’t it…

Hands up if you can’t sleep either!! 🙆🏼‍♀️

Seriously though, spend all day exhausted then when I get into bed it’s so bloody hot I literally feel wide awake now.

Contemplated sleeping in my car tonight with the aircon.

This really is no fun is it!! Jealous of anyone who has proper AC installed!

It’s 2026 guys, why the hell haven’t you invested in a air con unit 🤯

I don’t generally need an air con unit.

Fans help.

Yep windows are open but no breeze, fans are circulating hot air and its currently 29 degrees in our bedroom

Windows open (it's definitely cooler outside) fan in the window sill... no covers (I learnt to sleep with no covers when I lived in Valencia) it's still 32° in here!!

im trying to watch the Scotland game but my eyes are trying to close! & given the way it's going I might get just give in to it!

Dog sitting for a friend with air con tomorrow Bring it on!!

I got a tip today, absolute game changer. Fill a hot water bottle, freeze it.....take it to bed with a tea towel wrapped around it. Move around body as needed. Bliss....

Does the condensation not make the bed wet?

Do you live in the North Pole?

AleynEivlys · 25/06/2026 00:10

Lying under a damp towel, two fans going. It's not bad!

Giraffehaver · 25/06/2026 00:11

Sweltering. I'm on the tiny corner my hot dogs allow me. The hairiest one is glued to my back. Yuk.

For the few nights a year it's too hot it hasn't seemed worth it.& try really hard to be kind to the planet.

Friend has one that was £400, I'm dog sitting for her tomorrow so will get to check it out, & might cave in. I have become disabled due to a stroke & im finding the heat much much more difficult to deal with.

We're sleeping out on the trampoline. It's heaven 🤣

I used to do that! I don't have a garden anymore, so no longer an option! 😢

I keep standing in the dogs pool, they are far from impressed 😁

My friends diog keeps giving her the side eye as though the heat is her fault! But won't go into ghebtoom with the sur con unit, daft dog!!

CantStop1 · 24/06/2026 23:27

I live in a block of flats in London, on the second floor. I’ve got my windows and balcony door open with internal doors open too and there’s literally ZERO airflow 😭

OMG. That's another circle of hell entirely! You definitely deserve an air con unit for your bedroom!!

Ha ha I had to do freezer Jenna to fit a couple ice pops in!

The house gets warm during the day (but not really uncomfortably so) but in the evening all windows & doors are flung wide open and the heating dissipates relatively quickly. Yes we will have a fan on during the night but that means we can have covers over us (we neither of us like sleeping without something on top).
Come morning, everything will be closed and another day of darkness (it is so dark in the house we have to put lights on!😆).
Although we are in the red zone for heat, a nice breeze sprung up this evening which we channelled through the house.

We did a couple of hours ironing between us today but I have to admit that was a bit too much!
NB property so well insulated and nice tall ceilings which really helps (compared to previous, older houses).

I thought the same as you until dh came home with two five years ago. They aren’t just aircon they are dehumidifiers and fans too and we are all hot blooded so use them for 8 months of the year. Changed my life, because for the nights like tonight I’m eternally grateful I have them because it’s nice to go to bed and be comfortable

The heat seems to just stay in my house it takes about 2 hours to drop a degree with all the windows open

My friend only got hers last week. If I decide to get one I'll order it & it'll arrive when it arrives 💁🏻‍♀️. I've been without for 57 years, I can wait.

Bertiebiscuit · 25/06/2026 00:28

Can't eat, it's too hot , am surviving on a diet of orange juice ice lollies and iced coffee. Can't make anything in kitchen anyway, it's too hot, except for a jug of gazpacho i made in the blender. Just so i don't get scurvy!!

im not far from you 😊

It’s 12.30 and I’m still awake - I’ve had a glass of wine and a beer in the hope it makes me a bit drowsy…. But no! The portable air con is on in my bedroom but frankly, I’m fed up with the noise! But it’s better than boiling so, noise is it! I genuinely hate hot weather - hate it! And no it’s not the same as being on holiday as I don’t have to work and function normally when I’m on holiday! Yes, sorry, I’m hot and irritable - just URGH!

Have you tried cold shower for the dog - and plenty of watery meals / fluids

Also wet his neck and under the creases of his back legs and his paws. It's so awful for our four legged friends.

ConstantlyFuriosa · 25/06/2026 00:33

If you have windows on opposite sides of the flat or house then a fan pointed out one side (the way the wind - if there is any - is flowing) will help exhaust the hot air from the room. It’s not air con but it helps.

Living mostly on water, but an evening meal of cucumber, tomato, mini peppers, rocket & a large spoonful of coleslaw & a handful of peanuts.

MintChocolate123 · 25/06/2026 00:34

Can’t sleep. And worried about the toddler’s bedroom being too hot.
