A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour* *government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

It took me so long to write my post Nuthatch that I have cross posted after three posts!

NoWordForFluffy · 19/06/2026 06:08

Labour and the SNP punished in Aberdeen. Which was expected, I think.

Upstartled · 19/06/2026 06:15

The SNP lost four points so the success was more a collapsed vote for Labour.

Considering that there had been mumblings of pulling a Conservative candidate out of Makerfield in exchange for taking a Reform candidate out of Aberdeen South, it's good to see that was entirely unnecessary.

Well here we go then folks: Welcome to the 2026 Hunger Games. A fight to the death for the chance to call themselves PM. The losers: you!

I just wish that politicians would focus on, you know, what’s good for the country rather than their own egos 😤

Nuthatch26 · 19/06/2026 06:25

Yesterday the Conservatives were saying that it would be tight in Aberdeen South, but seems not. Yes, no deals with Reforn necessary. Kemi will visit the seat again today. 😁

Patrick Maguire is saying that Labour MPs will expect and want a coronation now as Burnham won so decisively. Not sure Starmer will agree.

oooh in for some mahem! How long is KS going to wrap himself around number 10, like a piece of seaweed you can’t get off your foot at the beach.

looks like quite a lot of people tactically voted lab that would’ve gone cons/lib.

let’s hope RR and BP are checking their make up and putting together their swan song speeches too…

It's such a relief to see how a strong economic argument in sensible hands is making headway. Quietly optimistic, over here. Will be interesting to see what she has to say today.

As long as he can, hopefully. Don't want Millipede getting his hands on the treasury any time soon.

Middlerage · 19/06/2026 06:44

Yes, that would hardly be change, Ed time to focus on your swimming PBs!

Nuthatch26 · 19/06/2026 06:46

Starmer loyalist Steve Reed doing the media round this morning. 😬

Starmer's response on X. He's delusional.

So pleased. Great win.

Good result for Burnham there. And so it begins...Starmer will have to congratulate him in public today while already campaigning in in the background to put Andy in the corner. We might see even more robotic tones, so brace for that.

Interesting to see that the Restore/ Reform vote wouldn't have been enough on aggregate to have won the seat, so there won't be the fireworks that could have followed.

Meanwhile, in Aberdeen South, I see the Tories did remarkably well and the SNP were left for dust. A 26 point swing!

That’s great, love to see the Labour collapse and Kemi do well.

Nuthatch26 · 19/06/2026 07:26

Just heard Steve Reed on Times.
Total disaster. In full denial about what has just happened, bigging up Starmer, painting the win as a success for Labour rather than Andy Burnham, no leadership contest blah blah blah. Labour MPs would have been furious listening to that.

Middlerage · 19/06/2026 07:32

Ooooh put their names on that list….yes, total loyalty until he does the right thing. Amazed if we don’t have an impromptu number 10
conference today. Clean sweep, take the big three with you please…

It's full noise passive aggressive gas lighting now. Just waiting for Burnham to say "country over party" and then the other side will explode. When they said they were the grown ups back in charge they failed to say they were those grown ups who leave their kids sweating in the car with the window cracked open in the pub car park while they all got pissed and fighty.

Starmer will be speaking today, some time before lunch apparently. I don't think he is planning to announce his departure though!

Of course. There is no way Stamer will go quietly, he’s just too arrogant.

Middlerage · 19/06/2026 07:38

Bet you’re right @Nuthatch26 unless AB had a secret list of support that’s gone to number 10 and KS is down to a rump of supporters…

No he’ll dig in again. Can’t wait to see him finally dislodged.

carrythecan · 19/06/2026 07:54

Yep, that will be a good day. Even though I don’t really think Burnham will change things for the better, I do think he is more aware than Starmer. My hopes aren't high though.

TheNoWord · 19/06/2026 09:43

Good grief, there are some absolute balloons on one of the Burnham threads. 🙄

Lisa Nandy would make a good PM?!
Using Kemi’s first name is ‘unintelligent’?!

Crikey...

I am delighted with the Aberdeen result. Lived and worked there in the past and still have friends there clinging on to the last few jobs in the oil and gas industry. Breaks my heart to see what Milliband is doing to our energy security.

Haha that Kemi poster was to me. Luckily the sun is shining and bollard is going soon so who cares. Was a bit prattish of them though
