Totally understand what you mean @danglethedingle this breeze today is a godsend. Your dinner sounds lovely in all honesty some days in our house we have been having cereal as we didn’t want anything else!

martha79 · 28/06/2026 14:30

🤣 at tropical diseases @MewithME - I can only hope.

Cooler here today and very windy, which is getting a nice breeze through the house but also creating a lot of flickery light effects which are starting to irritate me! Had a nice few hours with a friend visiting, we got takeaway rice bowls and smoothies and watched The Sheep Detectives. Now in bed for a nap with the blackout curtains shut to avoid said flickery light.

TeaAndStrumpets · 28/06/2026 14:46

Oh it's so nice to hear other people are getting a breeze! We've got all the windows open and the temp is down to 26.5 which is SO refreshing!

I thought I'd tackle the chest of drawers after sharing tales of finding long lost clothing with @TodayIsatrickyone No treasures yet but everything is in neat piles at least! It won't stay tidy for long. I seem to have several t shirt bras they look so bizarre standing up by themselves! Obviously bargain is my middle name, the only reason I will have bought them is posh label and in my size, but don't imagine they've been worn. Felt faint after standing up for 20 minutes, not sure if it was the heat or realising how much I've spent over the years 😊

@Dozymoo42 I had a moment of doubt wondering if she'd already got one, but thought well she could start her own fleet!

TodayIsatrickyone · 28/06/2026 15:14

Well done on tackling the drawers @TeaAndStrumpets 😊
Have you tried setting a timer at all? I mean I’ve been known to ignore it and carry on anyway 🙄 but sometimes it helps me realise I’ve been on my feet long enough.

JewelleryCat · 28/06/2026 15:29

I believe we have a breeze but haven’t been outside. Unfortunately it’s still boiling hot for me inside because bricks retain heat and it will take a week or two for the heat to go and I can’t open windows or doors because I have a wasp phobia that comes out of nowhere (I also have a spider phobia) and I might have a wasp nest

Have you considered fly screens? They are very reasonable in price. It's rotten having a phobia about insects, so hard to avoid.

Yes I know a timer would be useful, unfortunately I think I'll just tackle one drawer and then I get tempted! Anyway, nearly done now. I have tried to be ruthless. Next stage all the Wham storage boxes under our bed....

How is your holiday packing coming on?

I think we tried them in the past but they didn’t work that well or didn’t fit good

ValleyClouds · 28/06/2026 17:39

Good evening all. Sorry I’m not participating I’m in terrible pain and the GP has just passed the buck to the hospital and I have no idea when they’ll call me in could be weeks/months even

I hope everyone is ticking along okFlowers

TodayIsatrickyone · 28/06/2026 17:52

@TeaAndStrumpets its so easy to get caught up in what you’re doing. I’m terrible for it!

I think I’ve finished the gathering stage of packing and have everything on hangers or in piles but maybe need my ruthless DD to come along and say ‘ you can’t take all that?!’ In a horrified voice 😂 Think I’m a pack for all eventualities type and she’s more practical!

DH is planning on getting cases out shortly and has offered to do all the folding and putting in the case to save my arms and energy but he’s worse than me for adding extra just in case bits so I probably do need to just pack maybe in the morning and tick that job off as 2 more appointments this week which will need to rest around.

Oh @JewelleryCat that must be so hard not being able to open the windows.

So sorry @ValleyClouds Fingers crossed it’s sooner rather than later. Chronic pain is so hard and some health professionals can be rather dismissive.

JewelleryCat · 28/06/2026 17:56

@TodayIsatrickyone it has been, I’m not as bad as I was but it’s still hard as well. Even when I have opened the door when it’s been cooler, the breeze doesn’t even come into the house

Tiredandwired2 · 28/06/2026 19:39

Hi all, finally cooler. Hooray! 🥳

@martha79 Sorry about the flat. That's rubbish of them to not let you know

@MewithME Hope your feeling ok. I really relate to how you feel. This illness and single parenting is extremely hard

Think I have finally solved my slug invasion. Spent an hour and a half sealing all gaps with decorators Chaulk yesterday and then spent the rest of the day and evening in pain with costochondritis. At least it's done though.

Well done on the slugs but sympathy for the costochondritis. I can set mine off with the slightest thing 😣

Morning all!

25° and feeling fresher. Woke up with pulse high, so quiet day after osteopath first thing. Looking back there was a lot going on last week, then I started tidying, so slightly over my spoons allowance!

Hope you are all more comfortable today.

MewithME · 29/06/2026 08:17

It's exciting @TeaAndStrumpets ...I've got jeans out to wear today!

Morning all, currently a lovely 16C here and only getting up to 21C!

Sending pain-healing thoughts @ValleyClouds and @Tiredandwired2

Fairly quiet day at work for me and yet another house viewing later.

TodayIsatrickyone · 29/06/2026 10:58

Morning all, glad it’s cooler for everyone.
Much fresher here too.
Currently sitting out with a cuppa and a dippy dog enjoying the breeze.

Hoping to get my stuff packed today with DHs help then I can try and rest around my appointments. Absolutely have to go to the cardiologist one tomorrow as been waiting forever and a day. Only time osteopath could fit me in was weds meaning consecutive days again which I don’t do well with but I think unless I feel utterly dreadful on weds I probably need to go before we go away.

Enjoy the osteopath @TeaAndStrumpets

fingers crossed @martha79

@MewithME Yay to jeans! 🎉

@Tiredandwired2 hope the pain soon eases.

TeaAndStrumpets · 29/06/2026 11:46

I told my osteopath I felt like a Catholic Martyr on the rack, but must say my neck and shoulder are a bit looser. It tends to feel a bit worse at first then improve. My jaw is hurting but I think I've been clenching! My buttock/hip area will have some interesting bruising tomorrow, but hopefully the sciatica will be better. Back in three weeks.

It is very pleasant here, I need my hot water bottle for IBS relief so it's great I can use it again!

Definitely got brain fog today, typed the above ages ago and forgot to press send. Time for a rest.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 29/06/2026 11:50

Morning all (just).

Pleasant day. Blue sky, scattered cloud & breezy. Off for bloods this afternoon so it'll be nice to get out for an hour, even if it is to get stabbed 😁.

Hope everyone is ok & has a pleasant afternoon.

JewelleryCat · 29/06/2026 12:16

Today at the moment, my success is vacuuming the floors and booking pest control for next Monday. Shame the council doesn’t give a time slot

Dozymoo42 · 29/06/2026 13:40

Afternoon all! 😊

Never in my life did I think I would be ecstatically happy to see an overcast day but here we are!

@Tiredandwired2 and @ValleyClouds I hope your pain settles for you 💐

@martha79 hope the viewing goes well and will keep everything crossed for you!

@MewithME enjoy wearing your jeans 😊

@TeaAndStrumpets I always say I feel like I need someone to put me on the rack and just stretch my body , never been to an osteopath but always fancied going. Hope that the pain you are in doesn’t last long and that it helps with your sciatica!

@TodayIsatrickyone- Hope you and dippy dog enjoyed your brew in the breeze!

@JewelleryCat and @CoffeeBeansGalore This is what I love about this thread we take our little wins and simple pleasures as something to celebrate and look forward to because we each understand the struggle we have- have a lovely day both

some pottering in the house today for me, we have taken out carpet up on the living room and have someone coming looking at it as we have parquet floor underneath and I have always wanted it restored since we bought the house but never had enough money to do so. 14 years later I have everything crossed 🤞 that we can finally get it done 😊
