I think my thighs have swollen in the heat! Bought some capri length cotton leggings from Amazon, thought they might be nice with a long t shirt. Well they fit but feel and look like spanx! I am exactly the measurements specified but obviously the wrong shape/ too modest. I was hoping for something more like pj bottoms. So hard to tell from a photo. I can't bear anything constricting though, I always buy 2 or 3 sizes up in cotton knickers to allow for shrinkage. (sorry for mentioning knickers again). Maybe I used the wrong search term? Annoyingly I decluttered the very things when I stopped doing pilates. I am always regretting decluttering clothes!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 27/06/2026 17:06

I get the cotton leggings from Asda. 2 pairs £10. I size up though.
If it helps I'm 5ft 7in, & fluctuate half a stone either way from 10 stone (63kg) and I get the 16/18. They wash well. I've never tumbled them though. They haven't stretched, shrunk or gone baggy. But that may be due to sizing up & not stressing the integrity of the fabric.

Thanks they look exactly the type of thing I was looking for! Such a lot of stuff on Amazon comes from China as well, and they are often very slim cut.

I really need expansion room on my poor tummy too due to ibs 😒I can't bear anything constricting. I remember when I used to wear jeans all the time!! I just need a sort of tent now.

TeaAndStrumpets · 27/06/2026 17:52

I've had updates from both DDs after radio silence for a week.

DD1 really overwhelmed with their new normal, calculating carbs for every mouthful etc. I found a very useful Aldi website that lists all their low carb foods. I daresay most supermarkets do, but their local Aldi is great. It's rural and never very crowded.

DD2 and family had a super time in Jersey. It has been very hot there too but they went to the beach every afternoon. DGD was very excited by the plane!

I hope the weather is more bearable for everyone this coming week. It's certainly been a bit much!

They are comfortable and not restrictive. Waistband is very easygoing. As I said, I size up to the 16/18. Normally I'm a 12/14. I think 96% cotton, 4% elastane so no sweaty polyester.
I used to live in jeans & never ever wore leggings. But mobility restrictions now mean I just need comfort & ease of dressing. These really do wesr well, not see through & very comfortable.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 27/06/2026 18:39

Dd has just bought these from Tesco F&F & said they are very comfortable & cool.

Oh my goodness @TeaAndStrumpetstalking of decluttering and the convo from yesterday… Ive just found the oversized cotton tunic I thought I’d declutterred! It was stuffed at the back of a drawer with my swim stuff so its had a quick wash and is definitely coming on holiday as a cover up.
Glad the holiday went well for DD2 and hope DD1 can get her head around the diet restrictions. I did a keto diet for some time and used an app that was good for calculating carbs in foods. It has a scan option too which I found useful to scan a barcode and be told how many carbs are in a product. Not sure if it would be helpful for her or not but it’s called ‘ carb manager’.

TodayIsatrickyone · 27/06/2026 18:45

I love those trousers @CoffeeBeansGalore 😊 I don’t need any more linen trousers but I do like them very much!
😊

Ha when we finally move I know I'm going to find all sorts lurking! Pleased you've found your tunic just when it's needed!

I have found a nifty kitchen scale with a program where it has preset foods. You input the food, it weighs it and tells you the carb count. You can load extra foods into its memory as well. It was heavily reduced for Prime Day so I've had one sent direct to DD1 and she is looking forward to having a go.

I probably use Amazon more than I should, but it is so handy. I often send little bits to DDs if they need help, and I've just sent a Duplo aeroplane to DGD! She is obsessed with them, ever since Mummy was on an aeroplane for 4 days a few weeks ago (actually at a conference for work!) She had a super time in Jersey with her cousins, similar age to her, and apparently now she's gone home they point to every plane they see and say she's on it! Living under a flight path it is happening several times a day 😂

I am still getting used to my new specs, but I've been able to catch up on Clarkson's Farm. We've started watching an Irish black comedy that is quite promising, about a small town obituary writer who is short of subjects............

@MewithME so pleased to hear you got out, how do you feel now?

Thanks..and everyone for nice messages today.

I've been a bit silly and have not rested that much. I've taken a hit to stop me sinking. So I bought a load of pots and four plants in the end and after a rest started faffing and getting them potted up. So have done too much but has kept me busy.

I had a cool bath and a sandwich in bed. I shall have a good rest overnight then DS is back tomorrow. Need to change his sheets tomorrow but I shall have to delay doing mine another few days or I really will have done too much.

@martha79 your ex sounds like an absolute Walter Mitty character like mine. Exh used to keep telling me he was nearly a millionaire...the next week he was going bankrupt! The truth was in the middle. Hope your ex's tropical island has a tropical disease to match! Or is that very mean of me? 😈

@TeaAndStrumpets I binged Clarksons farm when I was in a crash the other week. I do like it.

I got a deal on Nowtv again yesterday so I'm watching White Lotus. It's quite nice for the summer. Gorgeous locations and it's v good.

Right too epic a post again... I'm going to bed now. Hope you all sleep well. Cooler tomorrow. 🎉

@TeaAndStrumpets the scales sound amazing and just the ticket! Very thoughtful and I love that you sent a duplo plane for DGD! 😊
I would be very lost without Amazon too!

Yes it's too tempting! She's just been given a box of outgrown duplo people from a friend so now they can go on holidays!

We hardly watch Now TV (apart from Matlock which is cosy crime) but I'm pretty sure there's a documentary about Rik Mayall on Sky at the moment. He was such a one off for all his flaws, and it's gone on my watch list.

Much cooler today, although the sun is still out ☀️

Belated father's day bbq later now that DD and DS are back from their travels 🍔🌭🍗🥗

Hope everyone is getting some respite from the heat today 😎

MewithME · 28/06/2026 10:33

Morning all. BBQ sounds good @Swanhilde . Enjoy.

It's a lovely cloudy day... hooray! Sadly very breezy so my external tinnitus (next door's windchime) is aggravating my actual tinnitus.... It's going to be an earbud day again!

I need to be good and rest today.... Though still have laundry to do and sheets to change. I will try and be good!

Morning all, hope the cooler weather had hit those who need it.

Woke up chilly in the night as windows wide open which was rather welcome!

Not the best night and a tad woozy today so need to keep on resting as we go away a week today 😬

Having a coffee outside as it’s sunny but breezy and got mum popping over soon.

Rest well @MewithME

Enjoy the family BBQ @Swanhilde

Orangesandlemons77 · 28/06/2026 12:19

Trying to catch up a bit, have been. bit absent due to the heat / just couldn't face doing anything really.

I'm in the SW and it was really boiling here, also in a top flat. Spent some time in a cool bath which was nice until had to get out again!

Hope you all have managed ok and at least we seem to be out the other side for a bit, anyway!

Not got much planned for today, just sitting enjoying the cool air coming in through an open window.

Dozymoo42 · 28/06/2026 12:37

A lot cooler today in my neck of the woods doggos are very happy!

enjoy your bbq @Swanhilde

Don't over do it @MewithMEglad you enjoyed your trip out 😊

Amazon is dangerous @TeaAndStrumpets I would have bought the duplo plane and been like well now DGD needs an airport for it and before I know it I would have all sorts in my basket lol.

@TodayIsatrickyone Definitely get your rest in now the holiday countdown is on!

I feel you @Orangesandlemons77 the bath sounds like it was crucial! we are in an attic bedroom and I woke up in the nights a few times to have a cool shower my shower seat was a blessing as I could just sit there and cool down bliss!

pottering day for me going to join husband for a romantic trip to the local tip 🤣

Romance not dead after all! Where we live at the moment the city tip is awful, very crowded and people try and drive into you. We are moving to the wilds near DD1 and our "new" tip is usually deserted. The chaps are underemployed and always helpful. We have been known to make a detour there en route to DD1!

I’ve said to him the answer to all my inner most desires at the minute is AIR CON 🤣 so I am totally down for the trip ! That said I will not be getting out of the car as I can image the tip being very much like yours and I don’t blame you for taking the detour to the quieter one!

TodayIsatrickyone · 28/06/2026 14:08

😂😂 @Dozymoo42 you sold me with the romantic trip to the tip when you mentioned air con.

I have to confess when it was in the 30s, DH had popped out for something and brought us both back an iced coffee… we actually sat in the car on the drive to drink it with the engine running as the Air con was excellent 😬 and so much better than the house!

danglethedingle · 28/06/2026 14:11

Caught up with you all, I've been not feeling great the last few days. I'm sure its just the heat, feeling better today, we have a bit of breeze at last.

DH said he actually felt like eating a proper dinner today, (TBH I hadn't noticed him starving himself!) so he airfried some sausages and new potato roasties with rosemary. I must admit it made a nice change from the various salads we've been having.

Hope everyone has a nice rest of Sunday.
