Have you ever hated something that seems very popular with everyone else ?

Just for fun so no sarcasm or nastiness please .
My friend and I went to see a West End musical this week . I was really looking forward to it . Great reviews . Celebrity cameos . Camp and fun . Seemed right up our street .
We both hated it . We were turning to each other with puzzled looks and raised eyebrows (we've known each other forever and have very similar tastes so no words needed) .
The audience seemed off their tits to be honest . Screeching at every unsubtle innuendo . Shouting responses to the actors . It was like a really bad hen do .
We left at the interval .
My point is that everyone else seemed to be having a great time . The staff who opened the doors to allow us to leave at the interval were incredulous . I quote : "Are you not enjoying it ?!"
Well no , we weren't . We thought it was shit .
This is a show that is up for lots of awards and has had so many positive reviews .
Have you ever hated something that everyone else seemed to love ?

The films Mamma Mia and Titanic, I think they're awful.
The music of the very popular singers Michael Jackson, Joni Mitchell and George Michael (I feel bad about George because he was such a lovely man).

Can't agree with George Michael, but see also:
Bruce Springsteen x 1,000,000
Tina Turner
Prince (except Purple Rain)

Everybody raved about The Book of Mormon but I didn't really like it.

I don’t know if it was the theatre we were in, or poor projection, but we couldn’t hear half of what they said on stage and missed lots of the “jokes”. It was a very flat, dull evening.

Macarons.

Not to be confused with English macaroons, which I do like, but which you don’t seem to be able to buy anywhere anymore 😔

Got some gorgeous lemon flavour macaroons from CoOp (Free From section) the other day.

deeahgwitch · 01/06/2026 17:10

ladyglass · 01/06/2026 17:19

-Clubbing ( Ok haven't been to a club for 20 years but I hated them back then)
-Tattoos- Just do not find attractive . I have tried and people keep explaining them to me and I just don't like them.
-Pork- Don't like taste or texture.

  • Afternoon teas.
-Beer. -Long fingernails - How on earth do you do anything messy with them?

So busy, traffic jams to get anywhere, stress of finding somewhere to park, higher than average number of Hugo’s … Pembrokeshire coast is just as lovely.

I've just done a pilates class. I go back every now & then to see if it's improved at all. It hadn't. It seemed to consist of a lengthy warm up (gently moving your legs then arms from side to side) then a few light squats then a floor section which was a very easy version of what I already do in my everyday workouts. And after each exercise we had to stretch out our tired muscles! I do like reformer pilates though but they don't do it at my gym

Can’t understand the fascination with it, especially on the BBC. It’s gross.

SaraCrewe06 · 01/06/2026 19:21

@Thebinisrightthere
Your pilates class sounds very different to mine. I come out dripping! It’s a real workout.

Apparently they're had a special TQ+ unit running the showing for years, contrary to all the claims of impartiality. (See: Fran Unsworth.) I mean, if that's what the BBC wants to do, then it should give up expecting to handed the licence fee billions and go commercial like everyone else has to.

Britainisgreat · 01/06/2026 19:24

Morrissey/Smiths.
Radiohead
Nirvana

PRIDE.. If you're gay why ram it down our throats. STFU about it. Nobody cares.

Mozzarella - tastes nothing.

Bunionbabe · 01/06/2026 19:36

Yes, drag is gross. It's ok to parody women, mock their clothes, bodies and mannerisms etc but you can't target any ethnic minority people or wear fancy dress in case it offends their culture, language or accent. Only women are acceptable targets for mockery and ridicule in the name of entertainment. Oh, and redheads - gingers. Like me 👩‍🦰.

StarlightLady · 01/06/2026 13:57

I’d like to know too. It has been a game changer for so many women.

But not all. I don’t like HRT either.

I feel the same. The matwork classes I’ve been to were utter pants.

I like reformer pilates but the studio I tried it at is too far away to go to even once a week 😫

AInightingale · 01/06/2026 19:56

Electric fire suites - loud humming noise when they're running and ruinously expensive. Grew up in a house with a real fire and miss it so much in the winter months.

Love redheads, usually have beautiful curly hair and porcelain skin

Bunionbabe · 01/06/2026 20:31

That's me 😊.

FazeleysRoyale · 01/06/2026 21:07

Acrylic nails. I have never had them. Nor will I. The idea makes me feel weird. I don’t get the appeal. I do a lot of gardening without gloves on.

Spa days. I have done this one, once ! Bit boring tbh. Could’ve been gardening.

Aperol Spritz. Do love a gin and tonic though.

RedPanda2022 · 01/06/2026 21:07

Alcohol
football
general celebrity anything - just can’t get why people get so obsessed with footballers, singers etc
similarly entirely baffled by ‘labels’ - paying more just because it says ‘x’ on it??!
