Have you ever hated something that seems very popular with everyone else ?

Just for fun so no sarcasm or nastiness please .
My friend and I went to see a West End musical this week . I was really looking forward to it . Great reviews . Celebrity cameos . Camp and fun . Seemed right up our street .
We both hated it . We were turning to each other with puzzled looks and raised eyebrows (we've known each other forever and have very similar tastes so no words needed) .
The audience seemed off their tits to be honest . Screeching at every unsubtle innuendo . Shouting responses to the actors . It was like a really bad hen do .
We left at the interval .
My point is that everyone else seemed to be having a great time . The staff who opened the doors to allow us to leave at the interval were incredulous . I quote : "Are you not enjoying it ?!"
Well no , we weren't . We thought it was shit .
This is a show that is up for lots of awards and has had so many positive reviews .
Have you ever hated something that everyone else seemed to love ?

It was Titanique ! And I'm sorry to say that we thought it was a steaming pile of 💩. So disappointing .

I love musicals, I go to see them all.
Didn’t like Titanique!

Absolutely. Know someone with a super expensive apartment in a city. The apartment has a completely grey interior (including furnishings). Why drive a grey car, into a grey garage, go into your grey apartment and look across a grey road onto a grey building. They had young kids here but everything is spotless, minimal and grey. Price brackets would make it possible to swap for a townhouse with a garden.

Isn’t grey a sort of control thing? Commonly embraced by people who have a need to be in control of some aspect of their life because they are wildly out of control of their feelings?
Quite sad really

I saw The Producers last week and wish I’d walked out at the interval instead of wasting an extra hour of my life on it 😵‍💫

Also…

Crocs

Coffee

Football

Beer

Indian food

Oh I LOVE The Producers!

Dirty dancing
avatar
game of thrones
breaking bad

travelling (hate packing, unpacking, waiting in airports, being in a foreign country)

gardening
brightly coloured blue/purple/pink hair
coke (Pepsi or Coca-Cola)
paddle boarding
baking
exercising

I could go on, turns out I dislike a lot of things that most people like 😜

I feel kind of weird for not liking traveling much anymore. DH loves it. I like my home I live in a sunny ( too hot last week) country. I travelled fairly often in the past, and not mainly for holidays either and I’m so over it. But it seems to be so many peoples goal. What would you do if you won a million? 9 times out of ten I’m sure they’d say ‘travel’.

Claudiebus · 31/05/2026 22:41

Not keen on very matchy decor in a home.

AlternateLook · 31/05/2026 22:41

Golf is tedious shite.

localnotail · 31/05/2026 22:42

Claudia Winkleman. Freakish weird looking woman, seriously gives me creeps.

StrongandNorthern · 31/05/2026 22:43

This is all very reassuring!!

SUVs
Salted caramel (it’s in every thing)
Fire pits
Drag queens (no more please BBC)

Yeah salted caramel was nice at first..,

Uggs. The Longchamp Le Pliage. Elf on a Shelf. Zumba.

Oh how could I forget elf on the shelf. Hate those creepy little dolls and the thought they run around causing mischief at night would probably have given me nightmares when I was a kid. Used to have (good natured) arguments at work about if we should do it for the kids. Thankfully we decided not to.

ABBA Voyage

BlueFlowerOwl · 31/05/2026 22:47

Agree. Edited to say this was in response to the person who said Ed Sheeran 🥱

AlexStocks · 31/05/2026 22:47

Star Wars. I don't get the appeal. It's the same themes and storyline ad nauseum.

Theimpossiblegirl · 31/05/2026 22:48

Football
People who go on about football
Reform
Trump (American relative still thinks he's great)

Hello19834 · 31/05/2026 22:54

Matcha
Football
Harry Potter
Strictly
Peaky Blinders
Grey decor, especially when paired with insipid blush pink.
Coldplay
The Beatles
Prosecco
Sushi

Having a skincare routine involving a million different creams and serums that apparently all serve different purposes. Don’t understand it at all, I use face wash every day and occasionally moisturiser, can’t see why I’d need anything more.

Having my nails ‘done’ in any sort of way, including painting them, wearing false nails and going to a nail salon.

A slightly more out there one, wearing open toe shoes. I like my feet to be covered when I’m wearing shoes otherwise I feel exposed, I can tolerate wearing sliders on holiday if it’s hot, but prefer crocs or similar (which I’ve seen mentioned on this thread😅).

Honeysucklelane · 31/05/2026 22:58

Oooh must add….

Dancing on Ice
Traitors
Love Island
Mamma Mia
Spending hours lying in the sun just doing nothing

Blinky21 · 31/05/2026 22:58

ABBA

AlternateLook · 31/05/2026 23:01

Sliders, flip flops, and men wearing sandals.

Wehaveallgonecrazy · 31/05/2026 23:01

People eulogising about air fryers. Haven’t got one, dont want one. Got oven, grill, hob, toaster, sandwich toaster, microwave, slow cooker, pressure cooker…..
How many ways of cooking food does a person need?!

What’s the difference between an oven and air fryer? I don’t get it.

TurbulentPriest · 31/05/2026 23:04

Brokeback Mountain
The Greatest Showman
Novels by Kazuo Ishiguro
Mint chocolate
Clubbing
Beach holidays

I’ve never been skiing but I expect I’d hate that too 🤣
