Just for fun so no sarcasm or nastiness please .
My friend and I went to see a West End musical this week . I was really looking forward to it . Great reviews . Celebrity cameos . Camp and fun . Seemed right up our street .
We both hated it . We were turning to each other with puzzled looks and raised eyebrows (we've known each other forever and have very similar tastes so no words needed) .
The audience seemed off their tits to be honest . Screeching at every unsubtle innuendo . Shouting responses to the actors . It was like a really bad hen do .
We left at the interval .
My point is that everyone else seemed to be having a great time . The staff who opened the doors to allow us to leave at the interval were incredulous . I quote : "Are you not enjoying it ?!"
Well no , we weren't . We thought it was shit .
This is a show that is up for lots of awards and has had so many positive reviews .
Have you ever hated something that everyone else seemed to love ?

All inclusive hotels

Bubble Tea - see above

ive been to a few music festivals in Asia and they were amazing! Excellent food, polite / fun dancing and clean loos!

also I hear you about admiring expertise but I also really want to see an Olympics where ordinary people have a go. The actual professionals make it look too easy

OP. exh and I had pretty much exactly the same experience as you and your friend when watching Lost in Translation together in the cinema. From the reviews etc we thought we would love it, friends saw it first and loved it. We hated it and left after the karaoke bit with the fright wig. I've never seen it all to this day. I swear our mutual hatred of it while everyone else seemed to think it amazing prolonged our marriage by another couple of years.

Oh agree with this, kept waiting for something/ anything to happen but nothing did, hoped she’d be kidnapped or something, they looked bored and we were bored senseless
We went to work Monday said I saw the most awful boring film, complete waste of time
Friend oh I went to the cinema too and saw a great film … yes same one 🙃

FlipFlopVibe · 31/05/2026 20:53

There’s a lot of running themes here which is really interesting. I agree on…

Drag - I feel homophobic so don’t say it outloud but I just find it creepy. We ended up going to a drag show on my hen do and I was sober. What a crap night.

Traitors - just don’t get the hype.

Musicals with kids singing - something like Matilda would be horrific to me. There’s very few kids who have voices that are soothing or impressive. They just shout.

Love Actually - it’s painful, can’t bear the disjointed scenes and the random porn in the middle, which leads me on to…

Emma Thompson - the woman is a raging hypocrite and I hate hypocrites. I can’t believe everyone is taken in by her fake charm. One day the world will see!

Anything Mythical - Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter etc. to be entertained in books or tv it has to be believable for me, something that could happen in real life. I’m just not excited by any of it.

AiryFlyingFart · 31/05/2026 20:54

Crocs. Everyone saying how comfy they are. I bought a pair & hardly wear them. Ugly too even though mine are pretty colours.

Wicked
Toy story
Mama Mia
Star wars

My friends think I am weird not to have seen a theatre musical. One has seen wicked on stage 6 times apparently ffs! Each to their own.

Extra spicy food.
Barbecues! Smokey, smelly and messy.

As soon as I read the title I was thinking of some massive hit West End musicals that I couldn’t get out of fast enough 🤣. So exactly why you experienced!

ExquisiteSocialSkills · 31/05/2026 20:58

Sourdough bread. (And I LOVE bread)
Rosé wine
Bubble tea.
Lidl/Aldi - I find them so depressing to shop in and the quality of the fresh produce is shite.

And while I don't mind the actual food, the term "picky bits" which seems to be EVERYWHERE makes me want to scream and shudder. Yet everyone going on about "picky bits".

Picky bits gives me the rage

BitterTits · 31/05/2026 20:58

Comic Con, bloody awful. But most things actually.

Calling · 31/05/2026 20:59

Drag queens
Ed Sheeran - gives me the creeps but I don't know why
Coldplay
Oasis
Modern musicals
String quartets
Jaffa cakes
Baylis and Harding
Giles Brandreth
David Walliams

I wanted to say Wicked but was too scared as so many love it and get so fierce about it 🤣. But by “west end musicals” that’s what I meant 🤣

Overtheatlantic · 31/05/2026 21:04

Kimchi. I don’t care if it’s good for you, it makes you, your car, and the lift at work stink horribly.
Short, blocky shirts
Drag, insulting and not f

Ifonlyiweretaller · 31/05/2026 21:05

our group of 4 really didn’t enjoy Hamilton. We felt it was very much Emperor‘s new clothes and everyone else coming out seem to rave about the show. We were very underwhelmed.

Jumpingjoys · 31/05/2026 21:05

-Botox a d fillers- im 45 and will never have it. I think it looks disgusting
-Nails done- couldnt care less and the filing thing gives me bad shrivers
