A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour* *government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

North Korea?

He'd fit right in!
He also likes China? Don't forget your digital ID Keir.
Or he could be US Ambassador (subject to vetting).

Erm, guys.

Is there plenty of ‘talent’ in the cabinet?

Sorry to spot the flaw in Catherine’s cunning plan.

I'll have you know that David Lammy is deputy PM. Have no fear.

Of course. But Starmer has interpreted the results rather differently.
He thinks we want further faster Starmerism. 😂

Right, I'm off out for the evening with a huge smile on my face. 😁

Louise Haigh is purportedly throwing her hat/phone into the ring too…

EasternStandard · 09/05/2026 18:11

Ooh Lewisham Labour losing hugely first time since 1971.

The main reason cited on doorstep - Starmer.

Hallowedturf · 09/05/2026 18:12

A Labour MP who is not a prominent public critic of Keir Starmer just called me and said that while they had been blindsided by Catherine West’s announcement, they will be giving her their support on Monday.
They say: “I am reasonably confident she will be able to get to 81."
That’s the number of supporters required to trigger a leadership ballot.
The MP says: “The frustration on the backbenches runs far wider than the voices we’ve heard from publicly. There are far more moderate centrist Labour MPs who also think his time is up.
“Like most Labour MPs I am utterly furious at the cabinet for putting their jobs before the country.”

Election results 2026 live: Challenge Starmer by Monday or I will, Labour MP tells cabinet ministers

In a BBC interview, Catherine West says she has 10 MPs prepared to back her and is "confident" enough people will come forward to trigger a contest.

Haigh and the pro-Burnham crowd are trying to shut West down because he isn't in a position to move yet. This attempt by West only favours Streeting.

justasking111 · 09/05/2026 18:15

Well good for West and the previous silent majority for finally saying something. There's power in numbers as voters proved this week.

Absolutely.

The momentum is there, and Starmer is still in denial - the poor bloke just does not get it - his appointment of Brown and Harman demonstrate that.

But Steve Reed said the issue of Starmer didn't come up on the doorstep! 🤔 Surely he wasn't lying?! Maybe he didn't actually do any canvassing.

It'll take bloody ages for Burnham to be ready, so it's stupid to try to wait for him (especially bearing in mind he may not even win a seat to start with!).

Right, and now no seat is safe for him…

Steve does suffer from selective hearing.

Sky News has Labour losses at -1473

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 09/05/2026 18:37

I can see the new threads on Monday!

Katzen Würden Streeting Wählen.

boys3 · 09/05/2026 18:38

Looks like 40 seats left to declare. Reaching 1500 losses possible but high 1480s maybe.

boys3 · 09/05/2026 18:40

So almost 1500 losses in England, wipe out in Wales, poor in Scotland and now a stalking horse too.

if you haven’t done so already invest in the shares of key popcorn producers without delay,

Thank you again for all the timely info and updates.

I think we can reasonably round up to -1500. A good day’s work by the people of Britain.

Catherine West is big mates with The Laminator. He doesn't want to be leader, but stranger things have happened.

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 09/05/2026 18:45

I looked up Catherine West. She turns out to be a privately educated Australian (who now has dual citizenship).

I can’t imagine she has much in common with the voters of Hornsey. Other than despair at Starmer of course.

Nice thanks. I’m trying to find out but no luck what percentage loss is that for Labour? I saw 53% on one thread, and also 75% I assume in the middle somewhere?

It’s 59% I think.
