What is your daily step count?

I try to do at least 5000 steps and feel
guilty if I haven’t done enough!

What is your daily count? Do you check each day?

10 000 mainly kitchen disco.

LameStrangeNameChange · 30/04/2026 21:52

about 7,000

TheeNotoriousPIG · 30/04/2026 21:56

15,000 is the target that my Fitbit sets. I usually exceed that way before lunchtime. 23,000+ is more like my norm if I'm in work.

When I'm not in work, it is much less!

Oldgalgames · 30/04/2026 21:57

About 12k, I do work from home and got myself a walking pad which has been a great buy. Iv been on a health kick for the last 18 months and i have lost nearly 20kg alongside weight lifting steps have been key in this

Dimms · 30/04/2026 21:58

Zero

JustOneMoreMargarita · 30/04/2026 21:59

This month I’ve averaged 18K but really had to work at that. Usually closer to 15K with a few 20K days and a few with less. Rarely do under 10K

insomniac1 · 30/04/2026 22:00

6000

BurntBroccoli · 30/04/2026 22:05

Autumngirl5 · 30/04/2026 21:20

How do people manage so many steps? I usually manage 6-8,000 and I think I’m really active.

I think if you can fit steps into your daily life you do way more. Eg having a dog or walking children to school and back twice a day. Often type of job too.

If you work from home you actively have to go out and walk so an hour is around 6000 steps.

Wow that’s brilliant!

Minimum 10000 often up to 13-15000

ParmaVioletTea · 30/04/2026 22:11

I aim for 15k. Some days it’s 12k some days it’s over 20k

ParmaVioletTea · 30/04/2026 22:13

And I’m a writer and reader for my job so pretty sedentary. But I walk everywhere about my daily work, gym, shopping.

BotterMon · 30/04/2026 22:14

No idea. I am able to survive perfectly well without tracking my every function.

Thehorticulturalhussie · 30/04/2026 22:17

Around 12k per day gardening and dog walking. I’m late 60s and very mindful that I need to keep active. So I have a lurcher .

greensuitcase · 30/04/2026 22:18

Those at 15k or more daily… Are you stick thin?

Heleh · 30/04/2026 22:19

About 50 to 200 unless I have time to make myself go for a walk. How long are people who go for a walk taking to reach over 10,000 steps? I don’t have time to do more than 5,000 when I manage to make myself go for a walk or do a steps video.

Beanosaurus · 30/04/2026 22:21

An average day is around 21-22k

RedRock41 · 30/04/2026 22:23

This week not nearly low enough… bl**dy knackered… hopefully be around 50 at the weekend!

QueenOfHiraeth · 30/04/2026 22:26

I have no idea as I refuse to wear technology that will nag at me
My phone records steps but I often put it down while doing housework etc so it doesn't record my steps pottering about the kitchen for example.
I know I don't do enough but can do loads without any problems when I need to

Miranda65 · 30/04/2026 22:26

I have no idea, and no interest. Why does it matter, OP? If you want to walk, then do so. if you don't want to walk, that's fine too. You have autonomy - just do whatever works for you. You don't need ridiculous tech to govern your life.

mrssunshinexxx · 30/04/2026 22:26

Between 15k & and 23k I walk and run a lot

BashfulClam · 30/04/2026 22:28

Over 10,000 as I make an effort to hit that as a minimum. I hate a walking pad for when it rains.

I agree that, unless your life includes this number of steps, it is hard to add in. Google says 10,000 steps takes 1.5-2hrs which is time I don't have to spare

It takes me around 10 minutes to walk 1k steps so about 1 hour 40mins per day to walk 10k I dont actually think thats alot of movement in a 24 hour period.

As ever MN is wholly unrepresentative of the wider population where the average step count is between 3000 - 4000 per day.

Thank you for posting this because this is me (albeit I don’t have my phone in me when walking round house/garden) only when I go out.
