What is your daily step count?

I try to do at least 5000 steps and feel
guilty if I haven’t done enough!

What is your daily count? Do you check each day?

Between 13-15k

more if i go for a walk

TulipsMakeMeHappy · 30/04/2026 20:24

Oh my. Often as few as 500. Work from home at a desk all day so unless I make the effort to go for a walk then it's usually very low.

circusrunaways · 30/04/2026 20:26

This is MNs, loads will reply saying they do 20k pottering around the house

Hiddenhouse · 30/04/2026 20:26

Currently aiming for 12k a day but I’m on a weight loss mission and making it my mission to get more over. Before that it was often only a few thousand

Johnogroats · 30/04/2026 20:27

I try to do at least 10k. An elderly man I know (87 with Alzheimer’s) is doing 23k….

Today I’ve only done 4.5k but I did cycle 25km so that’s not too bad.

holachicatita · 30/04/2026 20:27

Mines could be 3000 on a lazy/rest day but it could be 20k if it's a long run day

mummyof2boys30 · 30/04/2026 20:28

15k a day minimum. I do 1hr gym and 3 mile walk daily though. Currenly on 19k today which is a normal sorta of day for me

GTTSR · 30/04/2026 20:28

When I worked, could be as low as 1000 if WFH or 5000 if I went to the office. Now I’m a lady of leisure, it averages 17000 but often 20k plus. My takeaway is that work is bad for you :) (alas I am also skint now!)

PearlsTeapot · 30/04/2026 20:32

5000 on a good day. Im not active at all and don’t work. I have to push myself to go for a walk.

FloralDeerPattern · 30/04/2026 20:34

It varies massively. The days I go for a run it's probably between 20-25000, the days I don't 10-15000, the days like today where my chronic illness is flaring it is 4500 right now.

I just checked my watch app and my average is 17,291 apparently.

lljkk · 30/04/2026 20:34

16k seems to be my daily average. Not around the house. I am rarely at home & walk to lots of places including work and hobbies.

EnglishRain · 30/04/2026 20:35

I do a desk job from home. I have a target of 7k which includes a dog walk and a school run usually.

Fellontheground · 30/04/2026 20:35

Usually around 15,000 - sometimes 20,000 at weekends. Not bad for someone with stage four cancer I think!

RightAngleRita · 30/04/2026 20:36

Bugger all. But I cycle 150-180km a week so I hope that makes up for it.

niknakw12 · 30/04/2026 20:38

14k-18k during the week as I work from home and take the dog for 3 walks a day or sometimes walk to the shop at lunch, up to 25-30k on weekends depending what we're doing.

sausagerollsarecool · 30/04/2026 20:39

I don't keep track but according to my phone my average is 13,500 a day. But I have no car in the week as DH has it and two different school runs in opposite directions (until September!! Woo!), as well as a baby who naps infinitely better when in the pram...

Sunseansandandautism · 30/04/2026 20:42

Between 15 and 20k but I don’t work.

ImFineItsAllFine · 30/04/2026 20:45

About 4000 on a WFH day and 8000 on an office day. Id love to get it higher but work full time at a desk job and commute by car. I'm already parking right at the back of the car park!

Sarahpainting · 30/04/2026 20:48

average around 19k I work full time on my feet all day. I’m 62 and shattered !

Keepgettingolder81 · 30/04/2026 20:54

20-30k plus.
i do about 20k on a 13 hr shift and am a big walker/ fitness type. Age 45.

Steps are a massive indicator of overall health/mental wellbeing/avoiding being fat etc.

PurpleFlower1983 · 30/04/2026 20:55

I do around 12k a day, I’m a teacher and on my feet all day. More are the weekend because of long dog walks.

Ofchris · 30/04/2026 20:55

As ever MN is wholly unrepresentative of the wider population where the average step count is between 3000 - 4000 per day.

WhatDoRacoonsSay · 30/04/2026 20:57

15 billion, at least.

deeplybaffled · 30/04/2026 20:58

I average just under 10k a day, but that’s a relatively recent thing over the last couple of years with a conscious effort to walk more in lunch breaks / park further away than I need to etc

purpleme12 · 30/04/2026 21:02

Daily average is 11,893
