Support and solidarity after antisemitic stabbings in North London

Apologies if there's already a thread, I couldn't see one.
Two Jewish men have been stabbed in North London, one outside some shops and another outside a synagogue. According to Sky News the suspect has been tasered and arrested after trying to also attack police officers.
Once again, we have another attack on Jewish people trying to go about their lives. I'm not Jewish but send my support and solidarity to all Jewish people who must feel very scared and vulnerable at the moment. I've already donated to the Campaign Against Antisemitism but I'd love to hear any ideas about how to do more, I just feel so disgusted and outraged that this is happening.

Thank you.
I’ve written down what you have said and I’m going to see if I can find a way to help.
I suppose first stage will be go to bakery and see if there’s a synagogue anywhere I can go to. Daughter is a massive toon fan so we often have a jaunt up the A19 to Newcastle.
Thanks again

I can DM you bakery or mention here. They are on Instagram

I am so sorry.
Sorry, such an insignificant word.
Bless your parents.

Thank you x

I am so very sorry. That your parents escaped Holocaust only to see such violence and hatred in what has been their home country for decades is abhorrent.

Thank you so much x

This attacker has a history of mental illness so may not be responsible for his actions but it is still horrific for the victims and the Jewish community

Frankly Jews are very small in number in this country - therefore not a group worth courting politically. Otoh, look at the Greens in Gorton&Denton - the votes of the Muslim community there are like three bell fruits in a slot machine to them. Likewise Sadiq Khan in London - a few platitudes but he’s not going to cross his supporters.

Extend this to the whole world and there you have your answer to why there is so much antisemitism. Even the USA, which has a substantial number of Jews in some places, is experiencing this.

My great grandparents left Poland after WW1 because it was antisemitic. (Thanks Polish people of that generation for giving them warning to leave in time!) The other side of my family left Germany in the 1930s. A country where they had deep roots and had lived for close to a thousand years. I have a deep appreciation to Britain for giving a refuge to my family.

What is happening now is scary, and a lot of people I know have left to Israel for this reason.

Do I think another Holocaust will happen? I don't think so. I hope not.

TBH antisemites are real idiots. Stop telling Jews to get out of Israel but then attack them in Golders Green, Bondi Beach and Heaton Park. You can't really have it both ways, mate. We got to live SOMEWHERE.

Owly11 · 29/04/2026 22:14

This is so frightening and horrifying. The worst bit is how little is really said about it and how there is just no outrage about it. My heart goes out to the Jewish community. We all need to find a way to speak up about this.

Mwnci123 · 29/04/2026 22:15

I've nothing original to say but want to express my support for Jews in the UK as well as my anger and disgust at the antisemitism in this country.

In my view everyone is always responsible for their own actions. After all, no one else is.

Craftysue · 29/04/2026 22:17

Sadly I'm sickened but not surprised at all. There has been regular attacks on the Jewish community and their property in the last few years. Lots of Jewish mums have posted about how fearful they are for their children. Enough is enough. People should be able to go about their lives without fear.

HermioneWeasley · 29/04/2026 22:17

Posting in solidarity

the level of violence the Jewish community is experiencing is totally unacceptable and I want to see a plan from the government to prevent it

TwitterRatti · 29/04/2026 22:18

Prayers and thoughts with the Jewish community today. If we stand together, we are stronger.

Wishithadset · 29/04/2026 22:18

Owly11 · 29/04/2026 22:16

Well, that’s obviously nonsense. Someone who is psychotic is not responsible for their actions. Just pray it never happens to you.

Jewishbookworm · 29/04/2026 22:18

At the same time I am a deeply logical person and the chances of being hurt or worse in a terror attack because I am Jewish is still pretty low so I don't think I need to spend too much time worrying about it. Except on a practical level, like hiring security for the Jewish organsation I run, being careful how I publicise my events and so on. (ah the blissfull era of ten years ago where I could post my events on SM with the time and place!!!)

MaidOfSteel · 29/04/2026 22:18

I feel truly ashamed that this violent hatred of Jewish people is being allowed to play out on the streets of our country. And I blame this government for not doing enough to stop it. Support fior Islamic extremism is not being stamped on. It’s gone so far as jury nullification now so our leaders must recognise the seriousness. The weekly hate marches must be stopped.

My heart goes out to the injured men and to the entire British Jewish community. Sending my love and support. I wish that I could do more top stop what’s happening and I know I’m not alone in feeling this way.

Dollymylove · 29/04/2026 22:23

Audhdgirl · 29/04/2026 18:53

This is terrible, but sadly I’m not surprised. The Jewish community have this non- Jewish persons support yesterday, today and tomorrow.

I’ve been increasingly horrified about the attitude to Jews, and how it’s simply allowed. The marches, the chanting, the media.

I hope after this, Zach Polanski is made to issue an apology about his recent comments on how Jews feel in the UK and the threat they’re under.

Back Polanski is jewish AND hes gay
Oh the irony.....

StartingStar · 29/04/2026 22:33

Awful horrible news today. Standing in solidarity. Wishing the attacked people a speedy recovery.

ViciousCurrentBun · 29/04/2026 22:33

My Mothers family had some Jewish refugees stay with them during WW2, she always wondered what happened to them.

I can’t do much but send solidarity and love to Jewish members of MN on this thread.

Dappy777 · 29/04/2026 17:15

It feels to me like there’s a campaign to drive Jewish people out. I don’t believe these are random stabbing. I suspect they are part of a larger plan to frighten Jews into leaving the country.

Never forget the incredible intellectual contribution of British Jews. Britain’s greatest post-war playwrights, Harold Pinter and Tom Stoppard, were both Jews. So was the great Jonathan Miller. Simon Schama is Jewish. Even Stephen Fry is half Jewish.

That's a very valid point Dappy. I've just been watching Lord Finkelstein being interviewed on the news and he said many younger Jews are relocating to Israel because they actually feel safer there.
Could we get to the point where there are very few Jews left in this country once the older generations pass away? It's a terrifying and outrageous thought, but if people can't feel safe in their own country can you blame them for wanting to leave to protect themselves and their kids? This has to be dealt with now, the fact it's reached this point is an absolute disgrace.

Absolutely dreadful. Which is why I want to go on the antisemitism march next weekend but (Jewish) husband doesn’t want to!

They’ll come for Christians next. We’re in this together

You're right. A little while ago, a Jewish mum on here, whose name I forget, posted about her fears for her children and the rising antisemitic climate in the UK.
Unfortunately, many people minimised her experience, disbelieved her or thought she was exaggerating.

Funnywonder · 29/04/2026 22:43

Didn’t know about these attacks as I hadn’t looked at the news today. So very sad to hear about this. We only have a minuscule Jewish population in NI, but having lived through the Troubles, nothing makes me angrier than religious bigotry. A pp mentioned visible security at her child’s Jewish school. We had similar here a couple of decades ago, with one Catholic primary school’s pupils being escorted into and out of school by armed police and soldiers for a period. Imagine children being aware of the presence of such hatred towards them simply because of their religion.

I wish both men well. What a terrible ordeal for them and their families.

TurquoiseDress · 29/04/2026 23:12

Really awful news today

Wishing the injured men a good recovery how utterly dreadful, they were just going about their business and attacked simply because they are Jewish, it’s sickening

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 29/04/2026 23:29

The rise in antisemitism is just awful. Sympathy and solidarity to all Jewish people who are feeling unsafe tonight. More must be done to keep people safe.

keeptalkinghappytalk · 29/04/2026 23:38

Ban chants of ' globalise the intifadah' ( the reality of that was acted out today in Golders Green).
Arrest and deport those imams and preachers who spout anti semitism... presently without consequence.
Ban the Palestine marches as they have crossed over into anti semitic hate marches and the current climate is too febrile to permit them.
Confront publicly, in our media and in our schools, those who support Hamas and Iran, the teachers, the students, the politicians and the religious extremists. Pursue them legally for their hate crimes.
Tell Jewish people they are valued, a peaceful community and a precious civilisation.
