Support and solidarity after antisemitic stabbings in North London

xabimunich3 · 29/04/2026 14:05

Apologies if there's already a thread, I couldn't see one.
Two Jewish men have been stabbed in North London, one outside some shops and another outside a synagogue. According to Sky News the suspect has been tasered and arrested after trying to also attack police officers.
Once again, we have another attack on Jewish people trying to go about their lives. I'm not Jewish but send my support and solidarity to all Jewish people who must feel very scared and vulnerable at the moment. I've already donated to the Campaign Against Antisemitism but I'd love to hear any ideas about how to do more, I just feel so disgusted and outraged that this is happening.

Awful news. Those poor men. Solidarity.

Solidarity with all Jewish people

@PurpleThistle7 Myheart breaks for you and your family. I’m so worried for you and every Jew in the uk who make up a tiny 0.2% of the population.
I apologise for Britain letting you and your community down so very badly.
I wish I could help.

Don’t accuse Britain of this , it’s a certain few from a sector who are here and they don’t share British values .

Audhdgirl · 29/04/2026 18:53

This is terrible, but sadly I’m not surprised. The Jewish community have this non- Jewish persons support yesterday, today and tomorrow.

I’ve been increasingly horrified about the attitude to Jews, and how it’s simply allowed. The marches, the chanting, the media.

I hope after this, Zach Polanski is made to issue an apology about his recent comments on how Jews feel in the UK and the threat they’re under.

SeasideStitcher · 29/04/2026 19:01

Terrible news. Solidarity with the Jewish Community - I'm so sorry you're having to go through this.

MrsEmmelineLucas · 29/04/2026 19:02

Just to add to what pp have said. 🌸
I too stand with the Jewish community and am shocked and angry at the rise in antisemitism.
That any minority group in the UK should have to hide their identity, fear for their children and be too scared to go to their place of worship is an absolute outrage.
The hatred has been inflamed, and it's going to take a lot of action to dampen it down again.
Thoughts and prayers 🙏

That man needs to wake up.

Picoloangel · 29/04/2026 19:29

I’m not Jewish but stand with the Jewish community. The attacks today are sadly all too predictable at a time when it feels like all Jewish people have become fair game in the eyes of the anti Israeli foreign policy baying mob.

I feel so helpless. How have we gone from “never again” to the disgusting anti Semitism masquerading as “free speech” and the marches not only in the UK but around the world. It’s so sinister and I’m baffled that the majority of people can’t seem to see it for what it is.

I cannot imagine how terrifying it must be to be Jewish right now. I am so sorry for your community and for the terrible stories of children being harassed and bullied in schools. We should be ashamed of this and of the fact that Jewish children are having to go to school under armed guard, to have to train for evacuation procedures. It’s utterly disgusting.

Don’t accuse Britain of this , it’s a certain few from a sector who are here and they don’t share British values .

It may have been a ‘certain few’ but there seems to be a growing number as the ‘globalise the intifada’ marches are still going strong two years later costing us millions, and the support for the Green Party shows the number of Anti Semites is growing.
It seems to me anyway a lot of people from a certain minority don’t share British values -but no doubt this comment will vanish as you can’t say that can you?
The rest of us are complicit frankly as we have sat and watched it all happen
Anyway, I’m off to see if l can find any Jewish communities in the North East who l can offer my support to in any way I can.
Im not sitting back and watching any more,

MrsEmmelineLucas · 29/04/2026 19:46

@DaisyDooley is right. Those marches certainly enabled the hatred and hostility, and the overwhelming impact of all the flags and banners etc everywhere seems to have emboldened certain people. Plus the Green Party seem to have developed their own problems with Jews - where on earth did that come from? Didn't they used to be a harmless ecology party?

Doggodoggo · 29/04/2026 19:53

In general, the British population welcome diversity. However, some of the "diverse" cultures that have been welcomed to the UK are themselves hugely intolerant of diversity. Ironic isn't it?

There speaks someone who has never been on the receiving end of anti-Semitism.

Every single time my dc have been verbally or physically attacked for being Jewish, the perpetrators have been white and British. In the immediate aftermath of 7 Oct 2023 my uni student received more solidarity from students who were practicing Muslims than from the SU.

Echobelly · 29/04/2026 20:53

MaturingCheeseball · 29/04/2026 18:08

Frankly Jews are very small in number in this country - therefore not a group worth courting politically. Otoh, look at the Greens in Gorton&Denton - the votes of the Muslim community there are like three bell fruits in a slot machine to them. Likewise Sadiq Khan in London - a few platitudes but he’s not going to cross his supporters.

Nonsense - I don't love everything about Khan but he is generally supported by a wide array of Londoners and is a staunch supporter of the Jewish community. The idea that Muslim people have some undue political influence in London or anywhere else in the UK that they use to spread extremism or antisemitism is simply untrue. That's just a nasty bit of prejudice about Muslims = extremists. It's no more acceptable than saying Jews control all the banks and that we have plots to take over the world/have already taken over the world. If we do no one's told me, that's for sure!

Also a close family member has worked closely with Sadiq Khan since he became mayor and I think they would have noticed if he were a raging antisemite by now.

But to others, thanks for the genuine expressions of support here, they are appreciated.

Gateshead has a Jewish community. Coatsworth rd has a brilliant Jewish bakery and shops.

minsmum · 29/04/2026 21:12

I was pondering about the rise in anti semitism today and remember after the 7/7 attack we were encouraged to reach out to the Muslim community to reassure them we knew it wasn't all Muslims and offer support. Wouldn't it be nice if people of all faiths and none could do something similar to reassure the Jewish community that they are an integral and important part of the UK and very much wanted and cared about

Thank you.
I’ve written down what you have said and I’m going to see if I can find a way to help.
I suppose first stage will be go to bakery and see if there’s a synagogue anywhere I can go to. Daughter is a massive toon fan so we often have a jaunt up the A19 to Newcastle.
Thanks again

My elderly parents are Holocaust survivors, my df was lucky enough as a young child to be put alone onto the kinder transport train to the uk, where he learnt a trade, had a family and worked till he retired. My mother is also a survivor. Today they were heading to the Holocaust centre in Golders Green and missed the attack by ten minutes. There are no words to convey how I feel at the moment.

NeedToKnow101 · 29/04/2026 21:46

Posting in solidarity with the Jewish community, our friends and neighbours. I don’t know what to say, it’s just unbearable.

Sorry, such an insignificant word.
Bless your parents.

I am so very sorry. That your parents escaped Holocaust only to see such violence and hatred in what has been their home country for decades is abhorrent.

AlwaysRoomForGin · 29/04/2026 21:52

Today I thought hard about why people of my grandparents generation always had a bag packed, ready to grab and it crossed my mind, are we there???
I'm so sad, so sick, so tired and very, very angry that this is the state of the UK now...and not just the UK of course. The sinister, no longer even stealthy, cancel culture of Jewish artists, musicians, bands, literary events, educators and so forth. We've seen it all before and wondered how it happened, how society let it happen and yet we are living this in real time.

There are so many blatant false 'news' stories and misdirection in mainstream media, peddled by 'celebs' and people we should be able to trust. It's not even pretending to hide behind lazy journalism any longer, it's just blatant, disgusting falsehoods.
Thank you to all of you who have posted in support of the Jewish community. Your voices do count and mean so much.

💐
They shouldn't have to experience this.
They should be living in absolute peace and security.

I’m so sorry. I find it hard to find the right words but the thought of Holocaust survivors like your parents having to experience such dark times now is just heartbreaking.
