Support and solidarity after antisemitic stabbings in North London

Apologies if there's already a thread, I couldn't see one.
Two Jewish men have been stabbed in North London, one outside some shops and another outside a synagogue. According to Sky News the suspect has been tasered and arrested after trying to also attack police officers.
Once again, we have another attack on Jewish people trying to go about their lives. I'm not Jewish but send my support and solidarity to all Jewish people who must feel very scared and vulnerable at the moment. I've already donated to the Campaign Against Antisemitism but I'd love to hear any ideas about how to do more, I just feel so disgusted and outraged that this is happening.

Support and solidarity.

I have donated to the CST after the Manchester attack where 2 men died and the Bondi Beach massacre.

The people who shout 'Globalise the Intifada' this is what it looks like, you fools.

Absolutely. These hate marches really should be stopped.

This is appalling. British Jews should be able to go about their lives without the fear of being attacked.

Hear Hear.

I had a meeting today with central HR because our workplace union put up a post on Insta to support the 'student intifada' (I work at a University) and I think that entire narrative is disgusting and frightening. Apparently freedom of speech blah blah but at some point this must be hate speech.

My son is afraid to go to school (as the only Jewish kid of 450) and my daughter is hoping for another run-in at her school (also the only Jewish kid - of 800) after taking a self defense course due to the endless harassment she's enduring. I'm actually equally scared for them both as she's so, so angry now. I've started tracking them on their walks home from school again which is a thing I do when my anxiety gets out of control. I am very, very scared.

@PurpleThistle7 Myheart breaks for you and your family. I’m so worried for you and every Jew in the uk who make up a tiny 0.2% of the population.
I apologise for Britain letting you and your community down so very badly.
I wish I could help.

EmeraldRoulette · 29/04/2026 16:47

None of us have got enough time for the level of rage and anger I have now

Also, yeah, totally predictable

I'm not Jewish by the way. Our closest family friends are Jewish and my honorary grandma escaped the Holocaust as a teenager. She's no longer with us

I feel the pain of those of you who said you're glad some of your friends and relatives aren't here to see this

I also lost friends in a terror attack over the last few years - there are a lot of us in this situation and no one listens to us.

Like I said, I do not have enough time, you do not have enough time. - for the level of anger I have. I wish I could do something constructive with it. Being angry doesn't get us anywhere. But being passive doesn't get us anywhere either.

Much love to you all 💐💐💐

cupfinalchaos · 29/04/2026 16:59

Thank you op. It is reported an Iranian backed group has claimed the credit for this one. This is why Israel was fought for.. an option for Jews when antisemitism rears its ugly head with regularity.
The misinformation and biased reporting since Oct 7th, especially from the BBC, are partly responsible.

A lot of people still don’t see that today’s victims are Jews, but tomorrow’s will be anyone here not subscribing to these monster’s ideology. I’ve never been so frightened for my children in My life.

Dappy777 · 29/04/2026 17:15

It feels to me like there’s a campaign to drive Jewish people out. I don’t believe these are random stabbing. I suspect they are part of a larger plan to frighten Jews into leaving the country.

Never forget the incredible intellectual contribution of British Jews. Britain’s greatest post-war playwrights, Harold Pinter and Tom Stoppard, were both Jews. So was the great Jonathan Miller. Simon Schama is Jewish. Even Stephen Fry is half Jewish.

I agree British Jews have added much intellectually and in working generally. I’m listening to the radio and a caller talked about a family of Drs who arrived here as dc after ww2.

So much of Mumsnet hate Jews, it's so very sad to see how many of them have been conned.

Which funnily enough is always allowed to stand isn’t it.

My Jewish ancestors came to London in the 1880s. My family have always appreciated that they were able to come here and contribute while feeling relatively safe. I feel like that sense of acceptance is disappearing. It’s 2026 - a 70 year old Jewish man was chased down the street and then stabbed. We’ve gone backwards in time.

Thoughts and prayers.
I stand by our Jewish community.
A small donation made.

Do you feel like the Labour government is supporting you? I’m not getting a sense of that personally, but I’m glad if you feel like it.

Yes, I think it's acting quite rightly and I'm encouraged to see law enforcement taking this kind of violence so seriously, having also foiled people planning attacks twice in recent months, if I recall correctly.

It's unfortunately going to be hard to stop individuals or very small scale actors who may be encouraged, either directly or indirectly, to commit the sort of horrid acts we've seen lately.

Seymour5 · 29/04/2026 17:52

I am an old woman, born soon after WWII. The destruction of the Jewish people during that war was instilled into my generation. My father, like most men of his generation served throughout the war, hoping for lasting peace. The UK became home to many Jewish refugees. I remember as a young girl, travelling for the first time from Scotland to London, when the coach went through Golders Green, and I saw some very traditional Jewish people. I was so glad they had been able to make a home and a good life in the UK.

Now this unfathomable hatred is rising again, from another source, and it is here. @Dandeliontea123 you are right, we have gone backwards.

Sirzy · 29/04/2026 17:58

Thank you for the donation link, I will send something over on payday tomorrow.

It’s absolutely awful and I can’t imagine the level of fear Jewish people must be feeling at the moment and wish as a non Jew there was some way we could help.

MaturingCheeseball · 29/04/2026 18:08

Frankly Jews are very small in number in this country - therefore not a group worth courting politically. Otoh, look at the Greens in Gorton&Denton - the votes of the Muslim community there are like three bell fruits in a slot machine to them. Likewise Sadiq Khan in London - a few platitudes but he’s not going to cross his supporters.

Weeelokthen · 29/04/2026 18:10

I am not Jewish but bloody hell, enough!! When is this hate for Jews going to end. What other religions/race have large fencing/security guards outside their childrens schools/places of worship. Wtaf
I'm sick of religious zealots on our streets. Enough, if you don't like the "diversity" of the UK, fuck off, elsewhere and don't bring your hate to our streets

MaturingCheeseball · 29/04/2026 18:17

No doubt it will be swept under the carpet as the man had “mental health issues” so nothing to see here, it was just a random attack, could have been on anybody. (But meanwhile there will be a full enquiry about police brutality on the poor victim who lacked support…)

Another appalling antisemitic attack. I am so sorry for our British Jewish communities and individuals who must feel so much fear and frustration at the horrifying rise in antisemitism. You’re British. You should be safe in the UK. It is shameful that you are not.

NeartoNewquay · 29/04/2026 18:34

Sending much love and prayers for the men who were attacked. It's absolutely abhorrent that this is happening. I grew up in a part of North London with a large Jewish community and many of my childhood friends were Jewish. I feel so sad and ashamed that people are living in fear.

Please know that many of us cherish having Jewish communities in the UK and are standing with you. ❤️

FettchYeSandbagges · 29/04/2026 18:39

What absolutely dreadful news. Wishing them both a speedy recovery.

Sadly there is so much knife crime these days.
