Ok.... I swear I had missed this.
I have just googled it. So US military is shooting boats, involved in drugs dealing, but at a higher than usual occurrence, is it? With 181 people killed since September in Latin American waters?

I have not spottedthis reported in UK.

It has been covered by some of the UK MSM

e.g.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/mar/25/latest-caribbean-strike-boat-four-killed

Strike on alleged drug vessel kills four in the Caribbean, US military says

Latest strike brings number of deaths to at least 163 since attacks on alleged ‘narco-terrorists’ began in September

MushMonster · 11/05/2026 16:18

So, there is concern that not all the boats attacked are actually involved in drug dealing and that they are not offered an option to surrender and been questioned. Just shoot first, ask questions later, IF there are any survivors?

Alleged drug smugglers.

I would not expect it to be in UK headlines. I sort of read 60/40 US to UK news, and others too.

But yup. There are rules about interdictions at sea. Normally it is interpol led. International and all that. Spain just got a massive haul I saw. But an international effort, so all the boxes are ticked and justifications recorded.

I've been called all sorts of things on another site today for daring to remind people that Iranian women are not free.
I am totally against Trumps war, regime change should not be forced from outside in my opinion. Equally, Iran cannot be allowed to whitewash their recent history, the protesters killed and women's rights abuses need to remain truthful and remembered.

Trumps war cannot permit Iran to pretend these abuses haven't happened. This is yet another thing to add to the list of things he's made worse.

And allegedly shoot the survivors in the water.

3 separate US strikes on alleged drug boats have initially left survivors. Each time they’ve been treated differently | CNN Politics

It's another example of how powerless Congress are.

And I think, being honest, this is an example of why I don't really care about this talk of Starmer being ousted. I mean I think he should have stood down when the "giftgate" thing came out. But hey ho. The thing is, I am rather proud that his own parliamentarian party can oust him. It's a pity the same can't be done in the US.

Nah. On more than one occasion, they've shot the survivors who were in the water.

Their philosophy seems to be "Shoot first, don't bother to ask questions later" or as was an old (and disgusting) saying after 9/11 "Shoot 'em all, let God sort 'em out".

I don't think Iran are trying to whitewash anything. They admit they shot protestors.

And what did Trump do a few weeks ago ? He boasted about the CIA operating in Iran AND about sending the protestors arms. FFS.

There's even talk about sending arms to the Kurds again, after the arms disappeared.

Oh my my! Killing survivers.....

Starmer may be ousted before the 5 years indeed. He bent back forwards to get himself linked to Mandelson (who is under investigation for sharing confidential data about UK assets, including possible sales)
But, if his own party wanted him to stay, at all costs ( maybe because they are filling their own pockets), how easy or difficult would be to oust a PM? If he decided to engage in a war, let's say. Could we get rid of him? I am starting to have my doubts.... Seeing what is going on in US.

"According to The Washington Post, sources say Hegseth told the military that none of the 11 passengers aboard the boat should be allowed to survive. After the initial strike left two people clinging to the wreckage, the Post says, Adm. Hegseth and a top military commander are facing serious questions about why the U.S. on Sept. 2 killed survivors of a military strike against a suspected drug boat.

@MushMonster we've discussed the killing of fishermen in the Caribbean including two from Trinidad and Tobago in previous threads. The US has produced no proof that they were drug dealers and the families of the dead men are now suing the US Gov't.

As they are getting away with just designating fishermen/small boats in the Caribbean as drug ealers and killing them, the US is now doing it in the Eastern Pacific. All of this has been reported in MSM in the UK.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/us-military-pacific-ocean-drug-vessel-b2973556.html

Number killed by US is 193 so far. Too bad if you're fishing in the 'wrong' place.

President Donald Trump recently signed off on a new U.S. counterterrorism strategy that sets out to eliminate drug cartels

Yup. If you won a speedboat on Bullseye, now you know where not to ride it.

" See, I told you we should have went for the caravan or the Metro, but no, you wanted a bloody speedboat".

logicisall · 11/05/2026 17:46

The thing about blowing up alleged drug carrying boats and murdering killing any survivors, is that the only way to prove that there were drugs on board is by catching a few sharks and barracudas and testing them for cocaine. (I know I'm reaching) This has only a tiny sliver of success - time, tides etc.

Kill the survivors and it becomes Schrödinger's drug cartel boats and drug dealers.

Trump and the evil WH Regime all belong in jail.

Yeah. Don't use speedboats for the fishing trip to try catch the sharks to test.

Wonder if there will be a warning for the world cup players in Mexico. Stay away from speedboats.

@MushMonster if you still have the will and interested in the WH Regime's end game, look up Project 2025. It's an eye opener. There are also trackers, ticking off which objectives as they are met.

I keep thinking that if Reform gets into power, we're next.

AcrossthePond55 · 11/05/2026 16:04

So unfortunately, it sounds as if Farage and Reform are using the MAGA playbook tactic of 'start small and work your way up'.

One of the things that the Dem Party missed here was that MAGA was working to 'stock' city and county councils, school boards, mayoral offices, hell even the dog catcher. MAGA realized that 'mighty oaks from little acorns grow' and that local governments can make big changes.

The Dem party pooh pooh'd those tactics as ineffectual. Obviously not.

With regard to the speedboat interdictions and subsequent military operations cast your minds back to last Autumn and some may recall Hegseth demanding just about every one star and above, wherever they were stationed in the world, to report to DC for a briefing.

Some have suggested one possible reason for this was so that Hegseth could explain exactly what was going to be happening in in the near future, and to maybe point out orders were going to be given that some generals might be unhappy about carrying out…

A sort of “so now you know, you’re either with us or against us and if you have any qualms then leave immediately, the door is that way, hand in your uniform and ID on the way out”…..

MushMonster · 11/05/2026 19:51

So is Project F the reason why UK governments have such a beef with the civil service? The Welsh Reform wants to reduce the numbers of civil servants, what makes zero sense whatsoever to me. I just cannot get what we should achieve with that.
At least, we are ok to risk chaos and delays in actual government.

And, well, that could be the actual reason!

I want to be queen of a land populated by dragons (Wales), so I may as well join Reform and displace this Dan Thomas guy....
I wonder.... does he know about all this?

I will turn the seat in the Senedd (Welsh Parliament) into a throne. And have two baby dragons on chains, at each side. I can buy eggs from the Dragon Queen, in game of thrones. They will keep his Royal Oranginess away from us.
