Where in the name of jaysis does my neighbour be going?

I am working from home the past few weeks and my desk is at the front of the house beside the window. My next door neighbour does not work, has no car, has no kids and I never see friends popping in to see him either yet about 20 times a day he leaves the house and comes back all in under maybe 10 mins per time. We do not have shops close enough for him to be going to so it is not to there and he is not gone long enough to exercise and has no dogs to walk just in and out the whole time all day. Baffling to me. Irritating too cos my ring doorbell goes off each time too.

Totally pointless thread cos nobody can know where he is going but jesus h christ its sooooooooooo many times a day. My dog barks every single flipping time too. Yes I will be happy to be back in the office next week!

Drug dealer?

That's what I thought, fair bit of drug dealing goes on round where I live and there are a lot of comjngs and goings

Itsanewdawnitsanewdayitsanewlife4me · 28/04/2026 16:23

I guess if he is dealing at least he is bringing the stuff away from the houses rather than bringing people towards here. Like he doesnt bother me it is just because I am home more often currently I am noticing it more as I turn the doorbell sensor off my phone when in work.

You need to change your sensor area. It shouldn’t be picking up people on the public footpath.

@SP2024 good point. I must find out how to!

I’d say so. We have a woman who is in and out all day and if she’s not doing that there are frequent visitors that call in for two or three minutes. F idiot. Must think we’re all daft

Maybe she’s an Avon lady?

maftaz · 28/04/2026 16:33

Disguise yourself and follow him. I wouldn't be able to resist doing that.

It’s very easy. You just move the lines around. Mine literally cover the block paving outside my front door. In motion settings, then edit zones.

Drug dealer?

My first thought

Itsanewdawnitsanewdayitsanewlife4me · 28/04/2026 16:38

@fouleetmites cheers will ask my teenager to have a look if he EVER gets out of the shower this evening! I literally only have it so i can talk to the postman through it when he is delivering at this stage lol

OP posts:
ArtAngel · 28/04/2026 16:43

Does he always go in the same direction?

If so you have to go out while he is at home and hide behind a hedge up the road he takes and observe how far he goes.

Next time, hide behind a hedge further away, and so on until you have observed his whole route.

Are there any windows you could get a better view from?

Threesloths · 28/04/2026 16:54

ClairDeLaLune · 28/04/2026 16:30

Maybe she’s an Avon lady?

Possible but unlikely. Most of the quick stop-offs are men in vans. Rule nothing out I guess

Ah, the hour long shower.
Utilise the teen. They have keener hearing and could be deployed to ovehear dans la jardin.

You've got to follow him and report back to us.

Itsanewdawnitsanewdayitsanewlife4me · 28/04/2026 17:06

@ArtAngel while I assume you were posting for comedic value sadly he is the corner house on a cul de sac and I am the next one so yes he does indeed have to go the same way all the time as there are no other ways for him to go!

@SuziQuinto they have less than no interest in neighbour snooping sadly. I did mention the other day and he was like 'Just ask him if it bothers you that much'. I mean it doesnt bother me it baffles me and I COULD ask him but sure then I would know the truth and actually have to work which I am not keen on doing this week being honest.

And no he is not an avon lady/man/ladybody for sure.

Sounds like he’s just stretching his legs around the block.

Everyone should get up and walk every 30-60mins.

It actually sounds really healthy.

Just turn off your ring door bell and then you won’t have to worry about it.
Stop making problems for yourself.

Yes, they may shower for a hours at a time, consume every carbohydrate in the house, but teens are strangely reluctant to spy.

d317 · 28/04/2026 17:18

I would sit in my parked car a little way from his house in the direction he walks and follow him as he walks past and further on. It’s not hard to follow someone, and your curiosity will be squashed.

its got to be to do with drugs or a health thing.

xxxlove · 28/04/2026 17:27

the last time two neighbours men did this kind of behaviour, the police did raids for drugs

If he's long term unemployed then it could well be for physio. I can only walk 15 minutes at a time now. It used to only be 5 since in had a stroke.

I hope your yappy dog is being looked after while you're at work so your poor neighbour doesn't have constant barking every time someone walks past your house.

Huh. The 'poor' neighbour is the one who's causing it in the first place.
Confused

HornyHornersPinger · 28/04/2026 17:32

To smoke weed I'd guess

nevernotmaybe · 28/04/2026 17:34

Creepily monitoring a neighbour with technology, and announcing it to everyone is an interesting choice.

TeflonMom · 28/04/2026 17:34

I think we might be neighbours OP. I live somewhere exactly as you describe, I presume you’re in Ireland? I also have a tracksuit wearing neighbour that fecks off on lots of short walks everyday. Spoiler alert: I’ve seen him dealing in the local park the dirty fecker

TFImBackIn · 28/04/2026 14:04

Drug dealer?

My immediate thought tbh. Probably very unfair 😆

honeylulu · 28/04/2026 17:41

Maybe he's just restless. My husband is a fidget-arse, he's always leaping up and pottering around the house and garden and pops out frequently to the shop, to the car, does bit of DIY in the garden, pops back to shop as hasn't got all the right stuff etc... It drives me crackers as he can make one small chore last most of the day with all the popping back and forth. I have wondered why he doesn't organise it properly and have the rest of the day free but concluded that he's only happy buzzing back and forth like a purposeful fly.

Or maybe he's a drug dealer and I never realised.

Weirdconditionaltense · 28/04/2026 17:44

Tricky one but I'd be happy to put some money in so you could hire a PI to follow him and find out. Hopefully something more interesting than drug dealing.
