Where in the name of jaysis does my neighbour be going?

I am working from home the past few weeks and my desk is at the front of the house beside the window. My next door neighbour does not work, has no car, has no kids and I never see friends popping in to see him either yet about 20 times a day he leaves the house and comes back all in under maybe 10 mins per time. We do not have shops close enough for him to be going to so it is not to there and he is not gone long enough to exercise and has no dogs to walk just in and out the whole time all day. Baffling to me. Irritating too cos my ring doorbell goes off each time too.

Totally pointless thread cos nobody can know where he is going but jesus h christ its sooooooooooo many times a day. My dog barks every single flipping time too. Yes I will be happy to be back in the office next week!

Tomorrow is my last day full time working from home and I am taking Friday off so I think at this rate I may follow him 😂

Do it … and report back!

Itsanewdawnitsanewdayitsanewlife4me · 29/04/2026 21:34

Well this I did not expect at all but anywho I had to head out earlier and bumped into the neighbour the other side of me who I rarely see and just waved hello but she came over to ask something about some drama on the beach and I said to her sure ask other neighbour' as he is always out and about and she says 'oh he wouldnt have noticed, too interested in her* in number 11' with a knowing look.
Says I isn't number 11 married with kids and was told that recently there was chaos and number 11's hubbie was carted off to the local garda station and not been seen since and my clearly very energetic next door neighbour has been 'helping her out with odd jobs' apparently morning noon and night since she has no man in the house currently. Better than eastenders and where we are nothing of note ever happens so that is why it seems more obvious I guess. I shall go back to work happily now knowing that my neighbours only seem to be bed hoppers rather than small time dealers 😂

One of my neighbours used to go out bang on 3pm every day

he was a “ reformed “ drug user

i used to call it crack o clock

Emmz1510 · 29/04/2026 23:46

He’s dealing and his dad won’t allow his ‘transactions’ to take place at home? He’s going to a place nearby to meet his clientele?
I bit more info might help us solve this! Does he always take off in the same direction? It can’t be very far away at all if he’s only gone such a short time. If the length of time he is away is fairly consistent that would suggest he’s going to same place every time for a specific purpose. As opposed to going away for 10 mins here, an hour there etc…
Does he have anything with him when he goes that you can see like a bag?
please report back if you find out!

Emmz1510 · 29/04/2026 23:48

Sorry didn’t read your updates!
You seem to have solved it! Well done .

JosephineCornwall · 30/04/2026 09:54

I am assuming this is a joke post? Or are you really that naive? He’s 100% dealing. Keep your ring doorbell the same to record him and call 101 to report him.

maftaz · 30/04/2026 11:46

Well going on your update and the number of times and durations he leaves the house everyday, he must be getting Viagra from his cousin. He's quick and frequent on the job anyway.

Voneska · 30/04/2026 19:17

I'm really sorry to give you this reality check but : The way I see it ( and I'm a mature Adujt) everyone seems to be using drugs now and so DEALING is commonplace. Almost normalised. Don't be shocked or you will freak out. The best way to handle it is pretend you didn't notice. These f0kkers can be nasty pieces of work and will turn on you in an instant. Don't complain to council lest it will show up in house searches and devalue your home. Just pretend , just pretend, turn a blind eye.

Itsanewdawnitsanewdayitsanewlife4me · 30/04/2026 19:32

Just to address a couple of things I am in Ireland, we have no 101 call number I am not entirely sure what we have that is not 999 but I was not planning on calling them anyway I was just curious rather than anything. Also no council houses near or around here to report to a council although I dont even know how that works, it does seem to be less of a thing to report people for things over here or possibly less places to report people to! I have no beef with the fella at all I was just curious but I guess once you see something you cannot unsee it and he is literally going to see the woman as often as possible, helping her with her pram across the road etc today so it seems they are 'seeing' each other. I only noticed it during daytime so would not have noticed him going out there of an evening or overnight but once you notice it it does become apparent so I shall leave them to it!

Maybe he was off to the pharmacy for his methadone!😆
Met my neighbour the other day staggering up the road in just his socks and pants (obviously drugs....it's always drugs!).🙄

Ireallywantadoughnut36 · 02/05/2026 07:25

Is he a drug dealer, because my ex neighbour was a drug dealer and that was his pattern. Or an addiction and he's going out to get his booze or drugs.

tnorfotkcab · 02/05/2026 07:26

Drugs

Komododragonchocolatecoin · 02/05/2026 07:36

There is a man on my estate who walks his dog I would say...7 times a day? We noticed it in lockdown and he is still going. I live by a field, park and shops so I see people coming and going all the time when I'm not working, but this guy is excessive. Him and the dog must get a lot of steps in.

Itsanewdawnitsanewdayitsanewlife4me · 28/04/2026 16:29

@SP2024 good point. I must find out how to!

He knows you have a ring doorbell that is watching his property and doesn’t like it

so he put a post up on a message board on how to get you to reset the sendir

the top answer was “ go in and out of the house 20 times a day, just disappear round the corner and come back” that’ll wind the owner up as the notifications will drive her potty

she will alter the sensor

MikeRafone · 02/05/2026 07:40

It’s most likely that his drug habit needs paying for, so now he is having to do dealing

If he's long term unemployed then it could well be for physio. I can only walk 15 minutes at a time now. It used to only be 5 since in had a stroke.

I hope your yappy dog is being looked after while you're at work so your poor neighbour doesn't have constant barking every time someone walks past your house.

This.

(I too have had a stroke) I go out for several walks a day because I'm also diabetic & it's good for me. I can't walk for miles any more (because if the stroke) but I can't walk walk for smaller amounts of time more frequently.

Didn't realise I needed to clear leaving MY house because of the neighbours (incorrectly set ring door bell) or badly trained dog.

if your dog is barking when you're there it's going to bark when you're not there, it needs training.

MayDaySunshinePlease · 02/05/2026 08:00

FettchYeSandbagges · 28/04/2026 17:32

Huh. The 'poor' neighbour is the one who's causing it in the first place.
Confused

No they're not, an Illegally set ring doorbell & untrained dog are. He is allowed to leave his house a hundred times a day if he wants to.

HoraceCope · 02/05/2026 08:01

the post box?
a timed walk?

Ah you’re in Ireland with Garda. My step uncle used to be a guard in Killybegs. Friend of mine her DH is a guard in Sligo. The one thing I do know about Ireland especially in small villages is everyone knows everything going on! Drives my stepdad who lives in England mad! He keeps up with the gossip every week with his brother in Ballisodare by phone.

HoraceCope · 02/05/2026 08:06

oh , just caught up, so he goes to see her, she says no, so he comes home?

Now you say woman would it be an affair?

Itsanewdawnitsanewdayitsanewlife4me · 02/05/2026 12:55

To the above posters - my doorbell is not in the least illegal and I have notifications turned off on my phone it was only while I worked from home I noticed him. My dog is well trained and doesnt normally bark that much either.

To the ones who read the updates it appears that it is an open affair and apparently going on long before the other womans husband was taken away. The neighbour apparently has been looking out for her while she was in a DV situation but got closer than just pals and now that hubbie is out of the way they seem to be very much a couple, affair or not. I never noticed before as I am normally in work and not near the window so that is why my curiosity was piqued. Anyway thats it really.

I've had near enough situation but it was a couple with a tiny baby. Sometimes it was just him but often both of them with baby in the pram. I also work from home and started wondering where theyre off to so often but not for very long, they didn't bring shopping back, no dog to walk. Then one day I spotted them smoking a joint at nearest bus stop; apparently they didn't want to smoke in their garden.
