I am working from home the past few weeks and my desk is at the front of the house beside the window. My next door neighbour does not work, has no car, has no kids and I never see friends popping in to see him either yet about 20 times a day he leaves the house and comes back all in under maybe 10 mins per time. We do not have shops close enough for him to be going to so it is not to there and he is not gone long enough to exercise and has no dogs to walk just in and out the whole time all day. Baffling to me. Irritating too cos my ring doorbell goes off each time too.

Totally pointless thread cos nobody can know where he is going but jesus h christ its sooooooooooo many times a day. My dog barks every single flipping time too. Yes I will be happy to be back in the office next week!

Maybe your yappy dog is really getting on his tits so he leaves the house to get a break from it?

Itsanewdawnitsanewdayitsanewlife4me · 28/04/2026 15:06

@MotherTuckinGenius haha no the houses are super insulated and detached, you cant hear my dog from outside when he barks and he can only be in the garden when I let him out there. Its a really MN 'naice' area as it were.

I would be pissed off with your dog keep yapping.
I used to live next door to this small yappy thing that barked everytime a bloody pigeon farted. Owner had no idead how to train it.

DeskGnome · 28/04/2026 15:18

You need to shut yappy dog up before we get a thread from him complaining about you 🤣

Itsanewdawnitsanewdayitsanewlife4me · 28/04/2026 15:19

@Holesinmesocks @DeskGnome he cant hear my dog from inside the house. Detached houses, very insulated. Only person annoyed by said dog is me!

I’d love to see a thread from his perspective!

Dear MN my neighbour sits at her window all day and constantly spies on me. She also has a really annoying yappy dog that NEVER stops yapping. My mental health is so bad now I have to leave my house for a break multiple times a day just to get some peace. She spies on me constantly! What can I do?

NotReallyLikeThatIsIt · 28/04/2026 15:32

Just because he looks able bodied it doesn’t mean it can’t be physio, I have a severe lung disease and have to do physio activities every half hour on my bad days, I don’t leave the house to do my activities anymore because the few times I have when I first had to start,, I’ve had neighbours commenting on how often I’ve walked past their window on my street or how often they’ve seen me on their cameras. So I stopped because I felt self conscious.

My friends dad also looks able bodied but he has very severe restless legs and does lots and lots of short walks because he drives the people he lives with bonkers with the pacing around at home.

Could you adjust your ring doorbell settings maybe? I have one and live on a terraced street where I step foot out of my house and I’m directly on the pavement, I’ve never been alerted to neighbour walking past my door, and it’s set up so that it’s not recording what my neighbours over the road are doing, it only goes off if someone is stood there for a few moments or pushes the button, but I do some people who have theirs set up to not only see their own front door and own garden but to record the street too. Modern day nosey curtain twitchers seem to love them because you records and listen to people’s movements even without pushing the button.

It sounds like you have a garden between your camera and the public footpath so maybe you need to adjust the range you’re recording so that it’s your own property only, and work on training the dog.

Itsanewdawnitsanewdayitsanewlife4me · 28/04/2026 15:34

@MotherTuckinGenius I might ask his perspective one day when asking where the feck he goes all that time but our houses are detached, no noises from either side can be heard at all. I am just musing to myself really as he does go in and out a lot for seeminly no reason but I guess he has a reason for it!

Why is your doorbell going off? Is he pressing it every time he comes back? How odd.

TheActualDuck · 28/04/2026 15:35

He smokes weed and has to nip out because his dad objects to the smell.

Itsanewdawnitsanewdayitsanewlife4me · 28/04/2026 15:35

@NotReallyLikeThatIsIt he is not disabled. As I said I do know him and I know his history etc just baffles me where he goes to so many times a day but one day soon I might ask hm as we are friendly.

Sensor goes off.

@TheActualDuck he smokes in the back garden so his dad knows his weed habit anyway.

Drug dealer?

I’d say so. We have a woman who is in and out all day and if she’s not doing that there are frequent visitors that call in for two or three minutes. F idiot. Must think we’re all daft

watchingthishtread · 28/04/2026 15:41

He's dealing.

Nofeckingway · 28/04/2026 15:44

are you near a woods or forest? An old coworker used to ride his bike into the forest and throw his food trash out 'for the wildlife'. When I suggested that was batshit and not actually good for wildlife he disagreed, so I asked him to approach a person in the forestry office and ask them about his plan. He never made the time for that convo...

In reality he had to pay for trash removal, brought all non-food trash to work but didn't want to drive a long way w/rotting food in his car. He had many other strange ways but this thread is about your strange person not mine.

Oh, I didn't know that was a thing. We just have a knocker.

Passingthrough123 · 28/04/2026 15:55

Missing the point a bit, but you leave your little dog alone all day when you're at work? Poor thing.

It really doesn't sound 'naice' at all from what you've described.

God almighty, I lived next door to the most annoying yappy dog.
Please, train your dog or pay someone who can.

Electricsausages · 28/04/2026 16:12

@Amsylou i play pogo as well 👊

Itsanewdawnitsanewdayitsanewlife4me · 28/04/2026 16:13

@Jom222 no however there is a fox that lives very near and he actually does throw his food scraps over at the hedging 'for the foxes' instead of putting into his compost bin.

@Passingthrough123 not all day no. I go to the office half days and in between my son comes in from school so he nor the cat are alone for long :)

@Dragonscaledaisy it actually is a fantastic place, near the sea etc you cant judge an area from one person. Neither him for his weed nor me for moaning about him lol

@SuziQuinto he is trained he just barks when the ring doorbell sensor goes off.

That must be very annoying.
