I was going to send a few pictures here and there as they grow. But probably won't. Does where you post actually make a difference though?

I’d expect that in the Litter Tray there are a higher percentage of posters who recommend spaying queens for their own good.

Erm I only replied because I'm not the person to do that.
And I haven't replied to others because I'm not being dragged into judgement and assumptions. But by replying to this that's what I have accidentally done.

I’m allergic to cats and even I think these pictures are super cute. Thank you for sharing

I hope you aren’t planning on selling your baby. Weird equivalence.

Or dumping it in the streets when it's no longer cute enough and has a medical need.

She’d probably spell Maine Coon properly if she was a registered breeder.

Edited

You can’t sell kittens for £1000 if their parents aren’t both on the active register because they aren’t pedigree in that case.

TheHungryHungryLandsharks · Today 12:41

They are expensive so they are very unlikely to go to bad owners.

As a breed myselfer (dogs), I just want to gently say this is a really naive point of view.

There's a puppy farm near me that sells GoldenDoodles (no health tests, overbreeding the bitches, terrible conditions) for £4K a puppy. And people pay it. No way are people who are buying from a known animal abuser 'good owners'. In fact, I would say they're the worst owners out there - because they don't give two shits about animal cruelty or abuse...all they care about is getting their puppy whichever way they can. So no, the cost of an animal and someones willingness to pay it does not equate to how good an owner that person will be - arguably, for pedigrees, it's entirely possible you'll get terrible owners because they'll breed the kittens or puppies (despite the lack of endorsement).

I hope your kittens do go to lovely homes, and your girl recovers from the birth nicely.

Notasbigasithink · Today 12:45

You'd have been better off saying you rescued her from the streets a month ago and she's just had kittens! That way the haters wouldn't have jumped on you!
Thay are absolutely adorable OP and I'm sooo jealous you get to cuddle them every day 😍

I know. They are pedigree . She's not just got out and had wham bam thankyou mam. It also doesn't mean I will constantly breed her. They are expensive so they are very unlikely to go to bad owners. Anyway I shall ignore them replys it will just go on and on otherwise.

Thank you. Can't wait till they change in looks and their personalities

Not sure them being pedigree and going to good homes is completely the point. My (adult) child got a lovely pedigree female cat and paid additional for breeding rights/papers/registration as we had several very responsible friends who indicated they would be thrilled with a kitten, and they would have been excellent homes.

However, on progressing the vaccination schedule/health check and discussing the plan with the vet they gave data that indicated if the cat was spayed early the data showed approx complete protection from mammary cancer, if done 6-12 months (without a kitten litter) it decreased to approx 85/90% protection, if it was done after 12months or in a kitten 6 months or older who had had a litter then you were way down at only 10/15% protection from mammary cancer.

Needless to say, as this was a much loved pet vs breeding stock at a breeding cattery, my child decided to spay by 6 months and not allow a litter. The fact that there were excellent living homes for the kittens to go to did not override the risk to the mum who was/is a very lived pet, and their priority was doing the best by her.

A basic Google indicates the data given by the vet seems to be correct, but very happy for any vets on here to weigh in to indicate if they believe this is wrong.

You really think I would want people from mumsnet knowing where I live.

😂 Are we only good enough to ooh and aah at your progency then OP?

@Notasbigasithink
People aren't haters. Just against back yard breeders making money from animals.

Of course you can.

They sell anywhere from £1000 to almost £2000.

Buyers who aren't bothered about a register will just ask the backstreet breeder to show them the kitten's parents.

But the OP is breeding to order anyway, as she already has homes for them all.

LibertyLily · Today 12:59

Thanks for sharing @Citcatt - they are super adorable and mama looks soooo very proud 🩷

Breeding to 'order' is what people should do.

Anyone breeding animals without (carefully vetted) homes lined up, shouldn't be breeding. This way you avoid situations where people end up with 2-3 puppies or kittens that no one wants because they're too old, or they're not of a popular breed, or too expensive.

I already have my wait-list open for my next litter...which is likely going to be in 2028. It's not 'breeding to order', it's breeding responsibly. @Citcatt has 100% done the right thing by not breeding her cat until she had families lined up.

None of us are in any position to judge whether OP is a good breeder. But she is at least a partially responsible one for not churning out kittens without homes lined up for them.

Spot on more like it.

Or did your cat just accidentally get pregnant and you quickly found 5 people with at least £1000 each to spare?

No, thought not.

MrsVBS · Today 13:13

Adorable 🥰

ERthree · Today 13:14

They are lovely. My old pus is a ratter and down right wild but she is lovely, not one for sitting on your lap but she will make you move if you are in her chair by the fire in the winter.
