I think I need a potted summary as I haven't managed to read all the threads.

If you look at the floor diagram in the BBC report it's pretty clear why the gunman was on a different floor to POTUS/guests.

If that sketch is accurate I'm not seeing any mystery in that part of the story.

Does anyone else have a very uneasy feeling about the King's visit? Like that another "lefty" shooter might actually be allowed to shoot him, just to get support for Trump?

So there was nobody dangerous in the actual room (other than Trump himself)? So the video doesn't make sense with him being bundled out. Why did they bundle anyone out?

We don't know if the gunman actually fired any shots. A pp mentioned the injury might have been friendly fire.

It's reported that the security detail at the checkpoint upstairs opened fire...

Small arms fire is ..loud, especially in an enclosed space, so that sound would have carried (down) into the ballroom.

Wanted to just say I am not trying to push conspiracy theories! I was just confused about the location of the “shooter” as the initial impression I’d got was that he was about to storm the room, rather than being on a different floor.

I’m always a “cock up over conspiracy” person - if people are leaking the stuff over Cash “J Edgar Boozer” Patel, which is pretty small fry in the scheme of things, there’s no way they’d be able to keep a fake assassination attempt plot secret.

After he sprinted thro' the checkpoint the 'shooter' had agents behind him as well as in front of him - maybe someone jumped on his back and felled him pretty quickly before any more shots could be fired?

The fact they captured him without shooting him but shooting one of their own (allegedly) is the weird thing.

I think that's a reasonable theory, especially as it appears one agent got hit (in their protective vest) by a round rumoured/stated not to have been fired by the attacker...
