It's a relief to see signs of the far right being on the wane in Europe.

The UK will not be involved in a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, Sky News understands.
It comes after US President Donald Trump said the US Navy would be blockading the critical shipping route.
A government spokesperson said: "We continue to support freedom of navigation and the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, which is urgently needed to support the global economy and the cost of living back home.
"The Strait of Hormuz must not be subject to tolling."
They added: "We are urgently working with France and other partners to put together a wide coalition to protect freedom of navigation."
Trump earlier said the UK was sending minesweepers to help with clearing the strait.
The UK is understood to have mine-hunting systems already in the region.

The strait might end up being so crowded there'll be no space for tankers to transit it.

He has no deal, he has no dice......he certainly has no marbles.

I would like to take a moment to congratulate Vance on his excellent work in Hungary.

Let's hope it's the start of a rejection of Far Right parties.

Even more reason to try and get closer to the EU now. It was a bit strangled by Orban's opposition to many initiatives, but we all know he was just a puppet for the Kremlin who wanted an insider to steer EU things Putin's way.

This news is far more impactful than any of Trump's shenanigans. Another one of his stooges bites the dust.

So glad about the Hungarian election. I was half expecting, shall we say, shenanigans with a resulting 'upset victory' for Orban. And especially glad that he has conceded. I think that should put an end to any hope that Trump may have had that Orban would stage his own Jan 6

Pleasantly surprised to hear Orban has conceded: I was worried that it could turn nasty in the streets, particularly if the Putin thugs are out.

Such great news about Hungary, and so pleased it was such a landslide he can't even pretend the voting was rigged.

A friend who went home to vote has sent me videos of the massive celebrations. There's a lot of rebuilding to be done there, but nice to see the joy and optimism tonight.

US forces will start the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz tomorrow (Monday), CENTCOM says.

U.S. to Blockade Ships Entering or Exiting Iranian Ports

TAMPA, Fla. — U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces will begin implementing a blockade of all maritime traffic entering and exiting Iranian ports on April 13 at 10 a.m. ET, in accordance with the President’s proclamation.

The blockade will be enforced impartially against vessels of all nations entering or departing Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports on the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman. CENTCOM forces will not impede freedom of navigation for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports.

Additional information will be provided to commercial mariners through a formal notice prior to the start of the blockade. All mariners are advised to monitor Notice to Mariners broadcasts and contact U.S. naval forces on bridge-to-bridge channel 16 when operating in the Gulf of Oman and Strait of Hormuz approaches.
