Is there any other feeling as good as this?

Waking up in the morning, looking at the time, and realising you have woken up a whole hour ahead of the the time you have set your alarm for and you can snuggle back down and not have to get up yet? 😄

A close second would be the first sip of coffee in the morning, or that first sip on wine on a Friday evening.

Anything else?

OP posts:

All of these. And being out in the garden on a chilly evening as it’s getting dark and seeing DH turn on the low lights in the kitchen to start cooking and DS doing his homework, and thinking ‘Oh, look at this life I’ve made’.

And being brought coffee in bed. The smell of honeysuckle in the dark.

I always set my alarm for my usual wake up time, even on days off. The satisfaction of turning it off then burrowing back under the covers 😊😌
Agree on the first sip of coffee in the morning, also getting out of the shower into clean pj's and clean bedding, and after blitzing the house; putting your feet up with a book or the tv with a cuppa and some cake or biscuits ☺️

Being in the middle of reading a really good book and knowing it’s there to go back to after work. Hot bath absolutely, especially with said book. Clean line dried bedding, log fire.

Laying on a sun lounger with thick cushions, looking at a calm turquoise ocean, and quiet white sandy beach, with your ear buds in, listening to your favourite slow music, and a waiter in chino shorts quietly bringing you a mango margarita

This is so lovely.

Bit of a controversial one (and one I don’t partake in any more) but…. Warm Greek evening outside a taverna, finished a beautiful meal, the air smelling of honeysuckle, with a glass of cold white wine and a cigarette as we people-watch the promenade.

PottingBench · 10/04/2026 21:39

Thinking your chores will take all day but finishing them all by lunchtime and finding you have an afternoon to just muck about.

LappingLouisa · 10/04/2026 21:40

I use to love that first cigarette 🚬 of the morning, there was nothing like it, 20+ years on I still look back fondly. Now it’s that first coffee that can’t be beaten.

First hug of the day with DD. All bed-warm and drowsy. She's a teenager but when she's sleepy it's like she's 2 again. My baby.

Greenfingers37 · 10/04/2026 21:46

Hanging the washing out on a warm, breezy day and watching it flap about! 😎🤣

A Maccies breakfast after Park Run.

How amazing you feel the day after a hangover! 😆

dreamlove · 10/04/2026 21:47

Friday evening, bath, shaved, moisturised, exfoliated
clean pjs and a new season of your favourite TV series in bed. With snack and drink of choice!

the first British strawberry of the year (I don’t eat them if they’re not British and I’m starting to crave them now!)

house clean and tidy, no plans and a new book

hazelberry · 10/04/2026 21:49

Walking out of work on a Friday afternoon.

Coughorcancer · 10/04/2026 21:51

Being greeted by my dog who loves me unconditionally
Seeing my dog loving life as if each day is the best day ever
Seeing my goats and chickens basking in the sunshine

The sound of the sound of the sea rolling in and out.

What an apt username @ElixirOfLife. Was recently at the seaside and just hearing the sound of the waves was so soothing.

Closing the work laptop at 5pm on Friday, with a full weekend stretching out ahead.
Bonus if it's a Bank Holiday.

Never having a period again....bliss

It's called the menopause and not normally described as bliss. Sadly.

Lobsterteapot · 10/04/2026 21:54

Feeling the sun on the small of your back as you step out onto the balcony in your bikini

zantez · 10/04/2026 21:56

When an event/meeting is cancelled and I really didn't want to go in the first place but felt I had to.

Finally getting a notification that the longed for Borrow Box book I reserved a few weeks ago is ready to read - or be read to me.

Going away for a few days on our sibling tour. Once a year, it is such mad fun. We are aged between 56 and 67 and act like we are teenagers. No kids, no spouses/partners just us.

Lavender14 · 10/04/2026 21:56

Getting into a fresh bed with clean pyjamas after an everything shower for an early night.

Bunionbandit · 10/04/2026 22:00

Nope OP … think you cracked it there, totally agree 😄

shellyleppard · 10/04/2026 22:03

@ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews its such a lovely sound

BrendaSmall · 10/04/2026 22:05

Getting into bed with fresh clean bed linen, after a nice hot bubbly bath!

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 10/04/2026 22:06

It sounds daft, but i take pleasure in the bird’s ‘lives’.
In my garden we have a mating pair of robins, magpies and blue tits.

That first one…fucking nirvana!

Waking up post early retirement and knowing that no-one will own my time ever again.
