Is there any other feeling as good as this?

Waking up in the morning, looking at the time, and realising you have woken up a whole hour ahead of the the time you have set your alarm for and you can snuggle back down and not have to get up yet? 😄

A close second would be the first sip of coffee in the morning, or that first sip on wine on a Friday evening.

Anything else?

Warm kitten bellies

As a chronic early waking insomniac I'd hate to wake up an hour before I set my alarm!

I was thinking exactly the same.

I had a drink problem. The worst feeling in the world used to be when I woke up in the morning and the realisation hit that yet again I’d drunk the night before. I stopped drinking coming up for 5 years ago and for at least the first year the best feeling in the world was waking up and the realisation that I hadn’t drunk. Nothing could beat it. It’s become just normal and I’m used to it now but it was the best

I think there is no better feeling/emotion than relief.

The sound of the sound of the sea rolling in and out.

Definitely this. I find the sound of the sea to be hugely calming and therapeutic

Wales winning the rugby union world cup ... I am still waiting.

Don't worry though, I am getting on with my life in the meantime. 47 years...

Edited

You may be waiting a little longer for that one 😉

Yes! Cat went awol for 20 hours the other week, i was trawling the park for her body... came home to find her little face at the window and shed relieved tears.

Bit of a controversial one (and one I don’t partake in any more) but…. Warm Greek evening outside a taverna, finished a beautiful meal, the air smelling of honeysuckle, with a glass of cold white wine and a cigarette as we people-watch the promenade.

I still have the odd cigarette when on holiday in a hot country, 20 years after giving up.

I don’t know why, but there’s nothing quite like a cigarette and alcoholic drink on holiday.

I love the first hour or so after my cleaner has been and the place is spotless with all fresh bed linen in the bedrooms and fresh towels in the bathrooms. After the first hour, DH and the kids seem to ruin it!

When you get in the sea and you finally start getting used to it then suddenly its just wonderful.

That feeling that's like a sneeze, only better

Sitting with my morning coffee watching the little birds flit in and out of my birdbath :)

Never having a period again....bliss

I can recommend this - it's fantastic!

AngelinaJoyless · 10/04/2026 23:10

Snuggly hugs from my children.
Listening to (and smelling) rain in summer.
Sitting in the garden in the sun after all the chores are done.
Having an afternoon batch cooking session with an audiobook.
Saying hello to lots of people in my local area - reinforces a lovely sense of belonging.
Viewing all the cherry trees in bloom.
Watching the garden come to life in spring.
Capybara.

Pulling a pair of jeans out of the back of the wardrobe that suddenly fit comfortably, after having relegated them for getting too tight a good while ago.

Plus an empty gym.

SplishSplash123 · 10/04/2026 23:13

Fresh sheets in bed,
Lighting a candle in a tidy living room ready for a cosy evening,
The silence and stillness when you wake up to snow.

CherryBlossom321 · 10/04/2026 23:15

Climbing into fresh sheets after a long day, having showered and fresh nightwear on.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 10/04/2026 23:19

The wind in the trees as you walk through woodland.

Swimming in fresh water.

The whoosh of newly washed and dried hair.

Cats’ toe beans.

A new, unread book by a favourite author.

Finishing a sewing project.

The smell of air-dried washing.

Sitting down to eat in a nice restaurant, the napkin, the tablecloth, the wine glasses, everything just so.

AltitudeCheck · 10/04/2026 23:24

A Tuesday evening after the cleaner has been and everything is tidy and clean. OH has gone back to his hone town to watch football for the evening. I'll buy something nice to cook for dinner, watch 'my' programmes on TV or read a book in peace with the cats on my lap before getting into fresh sheets and having the whole bed to myself (apart from the cats).

@Lekking that was almost a poem.

Getting back into bed again after getting up, especially if there is sunshine on the duvet, ready for another bit of sleep.

Sorry but… that feeling after a really good seeing to when you could melt right through the mattress and never move again.

I won’t ever feel this again, but when a child has their hand in yours in the street and you know you’re on borrowed time and they won’t do it for much longer, so you almost hold your breath.

Fuelledbylatte · 10/04/2026 23:34

A beautiful nap after reading a great book…not resisting it because there’s no where to be and nothing that needs you attention!

Arriving at your holiday destination and opening the door.

Closing down the house after a day well spent- bed time feels so satisfying.

That cuddle with your loved one where you hold each other in the special way that you do.

First hug of the day with DD. All bed-warm and drowsy. She's a teenager but when she's sleepy it's like she's 2 again. My baby.

Gorgeous!!
