Is there any other feeling as good as this?

Waking up in the morning, looking at the time, and realising you have woken up a whole hour ahead of the the time you have set your alarm for and you can snuggle back down and not have to get up yet? 😄

A close second would be the first sip of coffee in the morning, or that first sip on wine on a Friday evening.

Anything else?

Switching off the bedside light and knowing you won’t have to go through that day again. Tomorrow is going to be better.

Mine used to be when I finished the run of night shifts and got into bed. My husband used to leave me a hot water bottle. Absolute bliss.

I have loved reading these and its just reminded me of that feeling I used to have when we went on holiday when the kids were younger.

That feeling of arriving at the Villa after a full days travelling. You are all unpacked, there is food and wine in the fridge. The kids are tucked up in bed and DH and I would open a bottle of wine and sit outside in the warm night air with some music on and totally relax. Sitting there knowing you have 2 weeks of fun and sunshine ahead of you is just awesome.

Oh gosh this!!

When mine were young, we went to Centerparcs when we could afford it which usually meant in the winter months. The feeling of the first walk down the steps that lead under the curtain to the outdoor pool and seeing their faces light up was wonderful. Things were difficult in a lot of ways but Centerparcs was one of our 2 happy places.

It sounds daft, but i take pleasure in the bird’s ‘lives’.
In my garden we have a mating pair of robins, magpies and blue tits.

I saw a goldcrest this morning on a walk. I'm not a bird watcher and we only ever get starlings in our garden. I was thrilled.
I can imagine this is a lovely way to pass the time.

Clean bed sheets and clean pyjamas after a bath.

ElixirOfLife · 11/04/2026 18:56

Standing at the very top of a large hill/mountain looking out across the landscape for miles and miles. That feeling of being ‘on top of the world’.

I agree with this.

Where we live its full of mountains. You can walk right to the top and get the most magnificent views. There is something amazing about feeling you are on top of the world and looking down on everything. Its incredibly peaceful too. Very therapeutic.

You've just reminded me of when our kids were also young.

We'd pick the kids up from school/ nursery on a Fri afternoon (yes also in winter!). Drive two hours to CP, find the villa where my parents would be waiting at the window, with the slow cooker on, having scavenged the car parks to find hired bikes ready for us all for the weekend. We'd get unpacked, cossies on, and then bike down to the pool, all giddy. Splash around for an hour then cycle back with wet hair for chilli/ casserole/whatever and wine

Good memories (no anal sex involved).

Fresh, air dried bedding
Brushing my hair with my favourite brush
Seeing my (now adult) kids at the front door/happy
Watching my dogs enjoy their walks and snuggling with them in the evening. Love it.
A tidy house when I've finished cleaning.
Watching my cats curled up in a perfect ball, purring contentedly

Having an afternoon nap when the sun is on my bed.
The smell of my woodburner

The first sip of a large cold beer on a sunny day in the mountains, after a few ski runs. The sun on my face, the beauty of the scenery, and the dopamine from pelting down a mountain is sublime!

Why that part at the end 😳

Floating on your back in the sea, looking up at a pure blue sky.

Oh god one day I hope this will be me but im always paranoid that a shark is going to appear from nowhere and bite me on the bum (and then swallow me whole 😭😂😭)
ive got braver about sea swimming in general but still nervy…

can’t relate to the morning birdsong one because we seem to be plagued by magpies in the tree next door and that’s all we can hear as soon as dawn breaks, crows barking at each other. It’s not a relaxing sound.

in general I’m easily pleased in life, freshly shaven legs and clean sheets - and the feeling when one smooth leg touches the other and you momentarily think there’s an additional person in the bed 😂
usually do my sheets on a Sunday but I’ve just done my legs so I’m about to change the bedding.

The other thing I love is the moment on Christmas Eve when everyone is in bed and I’ve put all the presents under the tree and I’m just sitting with the glow of the Christmas lights, it’s an excited contentment and what I dreamed of as a child with a difficult home life was to have a lovely family and partner and for my dc to want to be home with us. It’s not about the materialistic presents under the tree, it genuinely feels like a wave of contentment washes over me.

Ha!

Maybe advance search, it's just a MN 'thing'.

TheChosenTwo · 11/04/2026 19:37

@Keepforgettingtomoisturise i think CP means centre parks and that it’s known for bum sex parties? I might be making assumptions but i think I’ve read about it on here before! I’ve never been to CP so I have no idea what goes on there 😂

DemonsandMosquitoes · 11/04/2026 20:00

Getting off the plane in a hot country, or anywhere on holiday really.

PauliesWalnuts · 11/04/2026 20:50

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 11/04/2026 08:33

That sounds like a lovely evening, @PauliesWalnuts

Why is it controversial?

Yep smoking’s so frowned upon now, and I gave up on that and then gave up vaping. But, I do miss that holiday cigarette.

I had another “feeling” just last night. When you go to the local pool for lane swimming in the evening, and you have a lane to yourself. Utter bliss.

kerstina · 11/04/2026 21:00

First glimpse of the sea en route to your coastal holiday. When you live in a land locked city

ErlingHaalandsManBun · 10/04/2026 22:57

You may be waiting a little longer for that one 😉

I’ll just go for a water cremation and have my leftover bits blasted into the sky over Cardiff when it finally happens. 3026?!
