What's Melania up to?

Westfacing · 10/04/2026 09:49

I'm wonder why she felt the need to make this announcement, standing at a lectern no less, like it's an important State occasion!

Seems a bit over the top - maybe something is about to break? She's known to have him an Maxwell a few times over the years

Melania Trump denies ties to Jeffrey Epstein and urges hearing for survivors

She called rumours that Epstein introduced her to Donald Trump "mean-spirited attempts to defame my reputation".

It can only be to get ahead of a story because otherwise it's definitely full Streisand effect. She also stood at the presidential podium which is supposed to be only for the president.

And if she never had a relationship with Ghislaine Maxwell then why was she emailing her and GM replying with an email that began 'Sweet pea,'.

The whole thing is very, very weird.

Yes, I think place & time is very important here. We forget that NYC movers & shakers would have been at the same parties, events. Being in a photo with JE means nothing. Trump was hugely engaged in the social & business networks of the day, as were his spouses. No doubt he was pally with JE but to what extent?

What rock have you been under since 2015? Trump and Epstein were best buddies for 15 years. Numerous accounts of them being friends including epsteins brother. Video and pictures of them partying together. Then there's 'the files' the heavily redacted files. Stop with the feigned ignorance.

@Tinytimmy123- Michael Wolff trades in gossip. It's likely his lawsuit will be dismissed.

He has recorded interviews with Epstein.

This Reddit thread explains the background to the Amanda Ungaro tweets. I'd never heard of her either but she was married to the guy who introduced Trump to Melania.

I am an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher with over 30 years experience. Melania Trump read that speech beautifully. Her pronunciation was very good. The only mistake she made was mispronouncing the word “trivial.”

she pronounced circulating as kirkulating - gave me the impression it was the first time she had read the speech.

They've already released an FBI report on accusations that Trump orally raped a 13 year old and then beat her up because she bit him. If that's what they're prepared to release, how grim is what they're holding back?

Oh my God!

Latenightpostings · 11/04/2026 00:24

I reckon most of you are missing a crucial point.

NONE of her speech was about defending Trump, not one bit. She was only defending her own reputation, not her husband's.

She also called for the women who were victims of Epstein to be able to speak in court under oath and to have their testimony recorded. This is what needs to happen in order for the truth to me heard and to have any hope of anything like justice to be done.

I have no idea why she's done this, but it doesn't seem like she's doing this with Donald Trump.

I wonder if she knows the shit is about to hit the fan and this attempt to protect her is reputation is part of distancing herself from Trump? Perhaps she wants the women to testify so they expose Trump?

Maybe she was taking the piss out of Erica Kirk haha I can't imagine her sense of humour is that great although look what she married I guess.

The only mistake she made was mispronouncing the word “trivial.” It would also have helped if she had delivered the speech using a teleprompter, rather than looking down to read from written pages.

It is very common to never lose your native accent when you move to another country as an adult, even after 30 years like Melania. By that stage in life, speech patterns are already deeply established, which makes them much harder to change. Children, on the other hand, have very few difficulties adapting. They pick up accents easily because they are still developing all their language skills.

@Anonanonanonagain
You mentioned that her speech “was dreadfully read,” which is an awkward use of an adverb. Surely you mean, “It was read dreadfully” a more natural way of saying the same thing.

She couldn't say "categorised". I've only listened to a minute but that jumped out at me. Also, does she ever smile?

nevernotmaybe · 11/04/2026 02:06

I cant stand any of them. But there has been a conspiracy about her for a while connected to him, this announcement makes as much sense if she is completely innocent as it does for any other possibility, it's not remotely strange to me.

Mulledjuice · 11/04/2026 02:08

HRTQueen · 10/04/2026 10:44

Calling for a hearing for survivors isn't this a good thing. Reasons why I am sure are not totally from an empathic stance, but as a women herself she will have very likely been a victim of sexual assault. There is more going on than the war

And her accent is likely because she still spent time with her family, my father has lived in the US over 40 years and still has a strong accent, not a hint of an American accent

She's the first lady. Surely if she wants a hearing for survivors she should speak to her husband about making it happen.

Mulledjuice · 11/04/2026 02:08

Well, exactly.

So, if she is choosing to take to a public stage to demand this instead of talking privately to her husband, and defending her own reputation but not his, what does this mean?

Doesn't really sound like they're working together, does it?

Springspringspringagain · 11/04/2026 04:19

I was also astonished at Melania's lack of fluency. I know the Eastern European accent often sticks, my relatives have it, and that's not the issue. You would expect if she spoke English for 30 years to friends, family, to her husband she would feel at ease and find it relatively unproblematic to read words in English, she mispronounced or misread many of them. Of course reading it in advance a few times would have helped.

I don't care too much if Melania lives in a bit of a language bubble with her family and Barron or whatever, but it's a bit rich coming from a family whose husband has been profiling immigrants and deporting those even with unclear statuses. His wife is an immigrant. Reminds me of Farage and his German first wife, German passports for his EU citizen children, and now his French girlfriend where he lives much of the time in France. These men sure do love foreign women given their anti-immigration rhetoric.

He starts war to distract from Epstein, that doesn't go well so she raises Epstein again to distract from the war.

This exactly, I agree.

RedRock41 · 11/04/2026 05:19

Immediately made me think there’s something to the allegations. If someone accuses you of something you didn’t do you don’t care and are meh/whatever. This came over as thou doth protest too much.

Every time I hear that Trump is in the Epstein files I ask myself this: If this is true why didn't the Democrats release this information before? The Democrats had access to the Epstein files for years and years and years. If there was something in them to really harm Trump they would have used this information during the 2024 elections don't you think? Maybe the Democrats didn't release the Epstein files before because they were protecting their own? Also so many names appear in the files but just because a name appears in the files does not mean they are guilty of anything.

Edited

Almost certainly Clinton and other Democrats are implicated in the files. Certainly doesn't mean Trump is necessarily innocent just because they wouldn't release them.

Well she chose to marry him. I'm sure other rich men wanted a model wife. He was always boorish and gross. She must've known what he was like.

I do think she may be unhappy with his political role, she probably didn't anticipate it at the time.

My friend’s Greek parents lived in the UK for 40+ years and never spoke a word of English

But there was no need. They were not FLOTUS.

I wonder if she was trafficked and it's about to come out.

Trump is a sleazeball but from what we know that's in the public domain he's not known to have been a paedophile or ever interested in under-aged girls so I doubt there's anything too grim regarding him in the Files, so maybe that's why the Democrats never released them. Also, there are no doubt a lot of Democrats in them also!

He was pally with Epstein for decades - photos prove this, but then he says he hardly knew the guy. As ever, you can't believe a word he says

He was the one over the years when out of office who made a big deal of how he was going to release the files - probably just making mischief for the sake of it

I guess you missed this?

For those who don't like links without previews:

"The Justice Department posted a trio of FBI interviews with a woman who alleged President Donald Trump sexually assaulted her when she was a young teenager after she was introduced to him by Jeffrey Epstein.
The woman’s central allegation, according to FBI summaries of her interviews with investigators, known as FBI 302s, is that Trump hit her after she bit his penis when he attempted to force her to perform oral sex."

The girl's age was 13.
