Mine is probably Ross Geller but I know not many people will agree with me! I love him.

Buffy Summers, absolute legend.

EmpressaurusKitty · 06/04/2026 14:32

Assuming we’re talking about books as well as TV, either Madeleine Maxwell of St Mary’s or Georgette Heyer’s Kitty Charing.

Listlostlast · 06/04/2026 14:34

Billy Lloyd-Foxe, I’d have been wildly in love with him, I fear. Pretending that Africa scene never happened

OttersOnAPlane · 06/04/2026 14:35

Gilbert Blythe takes some beating.

Charlotte the spider, The Grand Sophy, Laura Ingalls (books, not TV), Dorothea Casaubon, Death and Carrot and Sam Vines from Pratchett, Lizzy Bennet... There are loads of fictional characters I love.

(I'm including Laura because although she was a real person, it's a very fictionalised account)

On telly, I have an immense soft spot for Buffy and for Mark Green from er

400Blows · 06/04/2026 14:36

Spike from Buffy and Fox Mulder are pretty much tied for me.Scully comes a close third.

MissAmbrosia · 06/04/2026 14:42

Sheldon Cooper

EdinaMonsoonsWardrobe · 06/04/2026 14:43

I actually really loved Romano in ER!

I think I love the name Gilbert so much because of Gilbert Blythe 🥰 not sure if I could bequeath it to a babe in 2026, but the love is there nonetheless.

I'm trying desperately to think of someone who makes me sound more high brow 😂😅, but River Song from doctor who is way up there in the best ever charts for me.

@squashyhat oooo yes good one!

Tostretchornottostretch · 06/04/2026 18:37

Gabriel Oak.

In love since I first read FFTMC 30 odd years ago. Refuse to watch film adaptations in case they spoil him for me.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 06/04/2026 18:37

Well, Gene Hunt, obviously.

But also I really love Eric the Vampire from True Blood/Southern Vampire Mysteries

And Pauline Mole, mother of Adrian.

SisterTeatime · 06/04/2026 18:47

I really love Mildred Lathbury.

I also very much like both Jill and Ann in Ruby Ferguson’s Jill books.

Pauline Mole is a legend, and I’m also fond of Nick Jenkins’ odd, embarrassing but memorable Uncle Giles in A Dance to the Music of Time (‘people who take tea waste half the afternoon’)

purpleme12 · 06/04/2026 18:49

Phoebe from Friends

Rory Gilmore

JD and Turk

Geraldine and Alice from Vicar of Dibley

purpleme12 · 06/04/2026 18:49

purpleme12 · 06/04/2026 18:50

Oh yes Becky from the Shopaholic books

SouthLondonMum22 · 06/04/2026 18:53

Dean Winchester.

I love Kay Langrish from The Night Watch by Sarah Waters. Such a brave and gallant soul.
