Mine is probably Ross Geller but I know not many people will agree with me! I love him.

Villanousvillans · 06/04/2026 20:08

Jack Reacher, the one from the books. He’s nothing like the one in the film or the series.

HelenaWilson · 06/04/2026 20:10

Frederick Wentworth 😘
Although he took his sweet time pulling his head out of his fundament

Well he was fighting a war.

My favourites vary, and have varied over time, as I get older and tastes change:
Philippa Somerville
Harriet Vane
Ariadne Oliver
Jonathan Chawleigh; when I first read A Civil Contract I was cringing along with Adam. Now I think Mr Chawleigh is a wonderful creation and Adam should get over himself.
Probably more that I can't think of at the moment.

Thursday Next (Eyre Affair series), Phryne Fisher, Bertie Wooster.

I’d forgotten about Thursday Next. Although I did see that Jasper Fforde was finally getting round to writing Dark Matter.

Was coming on to say exactly this! Absolutely Buffy Summers!

Count Lazlo de Almasy from The English Patient <swoon>

BuntyBeaufort · 06/04/2026 20:26

On tv Ronald Craven from the original Edge of Darkness back in the 80s. I’ve been a bit in love with Bob Peck ever since.
The favourite literary character who springs to mind, although it may be different tomorrow, is Bathsheba Everdeen from Far From the Madding Crowd.

PhoebeBuffay1234 · 06/04/2026 20:40

Gene Hunt is my all time favourite.

And of course, Pheobe Buffay.
