Is 100g of pasta too much for 1 person? I think not. Infact it is a lot less than i would usually cook.

50g per person here, assuming packed with meat and veg. Would be more if macaroni cheese, or a simple pasta in sauce etc.

Yes and rice. 75g dry rice per person for a main so for example witha curry, 50g if served as part of a mixed plate aka salad and main dish.

I’d always cook a full packet of rice and use the remainder to make egg fried rice the next day. I am curious if you weigh things out do you tend not to have leftovers? I have teenagers who tend to be thrilled at opening the fridge and finding “proper food” they can reheat.

No. Life's too short.

I think it's important to weigh pasta with your heart.

I love pasta

I weigh pasta because I can't judge the volume.

IMO 100 grams is a lot of pasta for a woman of my age and circumstances (67, active but with a sedentary job). 200 grams per person is way too much unless the diner is very active all day.

When I cook pasta for just DH and me I do 60 grams each. Pasta packets state 75 grams per person as a serving suggestion.

240-300g for the four of us depending how hungry we are (2 adults, 1 teen, one 10 year old)

I could probably eat a bag to myself

Same. Who are these people that weigh pasta?!!😂

pastapestoparmesan · 01/04/2026 19:09

I have a cup that is the perfect measure for two servings. I might weigh it next time and shock myself (probably by how much it is rather than how little!)

Me. One of the reasons I weigh less than I did is weighing pasta.

donotmissyourchancetoblow · 01/04/2026 19:12

If I’m watching what I eat I have 75g I could eat an unholy amount of pasta. If I’m hungry I have about 90-100g.

SparklyBlueDress · 01/04/2026 19:13

I weigh pasta and rice. 75g pasta per person. 65g rice or 50 if we’re having naan too

youalright · 01/04/2026 19:13

I never weigh pasta although I do seem to always overdo it and have enough to feed a small village.

youalright · 01/04/2026 19:15

If i weigh my pasta tomorrow am I going to be disgustingly shocked at how small a 100g is

And why I'm not overweight. I have always weighed pasta. I thought everyone did. I also measure rice by volume.

RockyFraggles · 01/04/2026 19:22

My DS 12 and will scoff 120g with tuna, sweetcorn and a cheesey sauce before going to martial arts for 2 to 3 hours!
I rarely eat pasta (low carb diet due to T2 control) but if I do have it occasionally would likely have about 80g

Hellohelga · 01/04/2026 19:25

HostaCentral · 01/04/2026 17:42

I used two handfulls per person. No idea how much that is? If I add an extra handful, there's always some left. Same with rice.

Me too two handfuls. Just went and weighed it and it’s 80g

Maybe you should start?

Yes, depressingly so!

Tallyho15 · 01/04/2026 19:42

I’m dieting and weighed out my pasta tonight (60g). It was pitiful! I’d say it was probably less than half what I’d normally have (non dieting). And that is one of the reasons I am dieting 🙈

Yes, it is a bit. The recommendation is 75g p/p.

People in general eat far too much pasta, bread etc.

Same here. I usually eat 50g of pasta at home and always have vegetables on the side.

If I'm eating pasta out, anything goes 😂

Pinklightning · 01/04/2026 19:53

Has nobody passed out cold from the amount of carbs yet?! Surely nobody eats that much pasta? I only eat 5 pieces and I’m full until Christmas! Nobody needs that many carbs, you’ll get diabetes! Eat more protein! Fuck off. Life’s too short to worry about how much your pasta weighs. 75g seems tiny once you start weighing it after being free and easy with it. Leaves more room for garlic bread though 😁

hahabahbag · 01/04/2026 19:59

I did 90g each today (last of the pack) but if I’d had more veg I’d have cooked less.

bloodredfeaturewall · 01/04/2026 20:06

for 5 adult sized people we cook a whole pack (500g)

cook with veg in cooking water (usually carrot or courgette) to bulk out. plus sauce & cheese.

very rarely we have leftovers

Girasoli · 01/04/2026 20:08

I've never weighed pasta, everyone gets 2 handfulls apart from small DC who get one handfull.

Spaghetti I just guess.

I was joking 😉I weigh pasta when I'm very focused on calorie intake so I get it! Just loved the poster saying she'd eat the whole pack which is me. On Sunday, I took a quarter pack of wholewheat spaghetti and ate half as I was so full.

I've read that fettucine is low in GI so I try to get that when I see it. It's also delicious so enjoy it!

Girasoli · 01/04/2026 20:10

Next time I make pasta I might way 2 handfuls for curiosity
